| Surrogates - PG-13 |
Though I like this 'futuristic robot' genre, the story wasn't original enough & was quite predictable. However - plent of action, good effects & set at a fast-pace meant that you can disregard the average plot and be entertained for an hour & a half! |

| The Invention of Lying - PG-13 |
Great concept for a story & some surprisingly touching scenes (not the humourous ones either) - but a cliched love story too. Ricky Gervais.. pretty much 'what you see is what you get', so if you like his comedic style in general then you'll probably enjoy this. Pleasant & amusing... an average rom-com of sorts. |

| Michael Jackson's This Is It - PG |
Musically outstanding and it's very entertaining to see how much work was being put into these concerts. Probably wasn't as intimate as I was expecting, but really interesting to see MJ's musical, creative & visionary side in regards to how much input he had into the 'comeback'. Fans of MJ will love this.. it looked to be an amazing line-up of concerts, had it happened. |

| Aliens in the Attic - PG |
This is a family movie that the kids should enjoy (more than the adults watching no doubt). Plenty of slapstick silliness - a granny doing matrix-style martial arts, a cute alien character and simple plot to follow. The special effects were quite good too. A bit of fun for when there's nothing on tv. |

| Paranormal Activity - R |
Completely overhyped!! Though all credit to the makers - small budget, get some idiot to think this is amazing and snowball the greatness so everybody goes to watch & ka-ching!!! Besides the fact that I'm not a fan of 'handheld camera' type movies.. this was quite boring for the most part. Do what I did.. hit the FF button through the dialogue & mock arguments and just watch the bedroom night shots for the 'scares'. The best moments of this movie happen in the last 25-30 mins I reckon, the rest I didn't care for. Incredibly disappointing. |

| The Hurt Locker - R |
Gritty, realistic and suspenseful.. this is a film that depicts the very basic but intense day-to-day operations of an army bomb unit without any obvious political bias or blame that you see in most war movies. I liked the detailed filming style and the fact that the most recognisable names in the cast had minor roles in this - which worked in favour, as the lead cast gave excellent performances (esp. Jeremy Renner as SSgt. James). A great watch. |

| Gamer - R |
Think Death Race or The Condemned set in a futuristic environment and you'll get an idea of what Gamer will offer. Fast-paced, violent, lively filming style.. though sometimes distasteful (food for thought for all those who found the 'creepy guy pretending to be a girl online' nasty!!). This movie is basically an action-packed ride where you don't really have to bother asking whether the actors are any good. |

| Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs - PG |
A good animation with an imaginative and fun food theme to the story, which I'm sure would appeal to lots of kids. Although this didn't grab me as much as other animated films (albeit the generally more popular movies such as Up and say Ratatouille) this was still quite likeable. |

| Il y a Longtemps que Je T'aime (I've Loved You So Long) - PG-13 |
Story-wise this movie is very similar to Rachel Getting Married only set at a much slower pace. As far as performances go, I agree that Kristin Scott Thomas was great as 'Juliette' - newly released from a 15 year prison sentence - and depicting the range of emotions the character endures whilst adjusting to life (and people) on the outside. The ending 'revelation' isn't unpredictable, but if you don't mind melancholy dramas ~ watch this! |

| Caramel - PG |
With a cast of strong female characters, each with their own story, this is a chick-flick of sorts.. but not over-the-top or in-your-face. Set in Beirut, Caramel touches on cultural and religious traditions but interests you with the predominant themes of love and friendship in its individual forms. I liked the backdrop, humour and overall found this movie quite touching. |

| Ice Age: Dawn of the Dinosaurs (Ice Age 3) - PG |
Very cute and as much fun as the previous movies.. story was probably more simplistic than the original (but thats not going to be a problem for kids watching). There's enough humour to keep the whole family entertained too. An enjoyable addition to the Ice Age series. |
