The Dark Knight (2008,  PG-13)
The Dark Knight
Uhmmm how do I start. This latest Batman movie is everything a Batman fan wants to watch in a movie. But it isn't the typical superhero movie, it's a dark drama and a mind blowing thriller that will leave you breathless. The film is great, its exciting, spectacular, full of action and adventure, suspense and mystery to the fullest and some nice black humor in selected moments, it will keep on the edge of your seat the whole time. The story is excellent, it is one of the best adaptations from a comic book, of course with some changes but only for the benefit of the movie. The plot is very well developed, Batman and Gordon find alliance with a newly appointed DA Harvey Dent to stop a vicious killer with a warped sense of humor known only as The Joker, a threat to both the good, and the evil of Gotham City but some circumstances will change everything. The cast is one of the best ones in a move, Christian Bale is very good as Batman, he is a great actor and confirms that is one of the Best Batman's ever. Heath Ledger steals the show, his performance is flawless, you really can see a demented person whose only joy is to kill and create chaos, with this role, his final one, he stops being a great actor to become one of the greatest. Aaron Eckhart has a superb performance as Harvey Dent/Two Face, Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman and Gary Oldman as great actors, their performances were really convincing and maybe the weakest one in her acting was Maggie Gyllenhaal but still very good and decent. Well my conclusion is that The Dark Knight is the best movie of the summer, the best Batman movie maybe just behind Tim Burton's Batman and a movie that will be remembered for a very long time.

Burn After Reading (2008,  R)
Burn After Reading
The Coen brothers are back to their filming roots with this movie. Burn After Reading is a film with no pretensions, its only purpose is to entertain the viewer with some fantastic black humor, a characteristic in Coen's films, and very nice action and adventure. It has a very simple yet interesting story and a very well developed plot about A disk containing the memoirs of a CIA agent ends up in the hands of two unscrupulous gym employees who attempt to benefit from the discovery, a paranoid married man who is having an affair with the CIA agent's wife and the one gym employee becomes inadvertently involved. Each character of the movie have a conflict of their own but at the same time shares a common conflict. The movie starts with a slow rhythm but as the movie moves along it take a quick step until the end making it a very enjoyable movie. The cast is wonderful full of all star actors. John Malkovich in the role of an ex CIA agent is wonderful, Frances McDormand's performance is excellent, George Clooney is also very convincing and funny, Brad Pitt is fabulous is his role of a clumsy gym employee, he is a natural comedian, David Rasche, J K Simmons and Richard Jenkins are very good in their supporting roles, the only one I felt wasn't in the same mood as the others was Tilda Swinton, her performance was good but without the necessary energy. In conclusion, maybe the comedy of the year so far. Its intelligent, entertaining and enjoyable. Definitely a must see movie. Fully recommended.

Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind (2004,  R)

What a great movie. Its so interesting how they managed it to be a romantic film with fragments of drama and a little bit of comedy. Its like a view to the people's deepest feelings like love, hate, desire and tediousness and the bieleve that if what you feel is real love it will always be with you no matter what. A great direction by a true visionary likeMichael Gondry. A magnificent story and an excellent plot by Charlie Kaufman. An excellent photography that its such a delight for our eyes. Al pacino with a great and very solid performance of Tony Montana that begins from zero until becoming chief of the drug dealing industry of Miami, Michelle Pfieffer so young and beautiful and also with a very good character. A real masterpiece.
15
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
what can I say, this is one of the best movies of the year, and the best with a mob theme since goodfellas, its one of Scorsese's finest jobs, you can notice that it is directed by him from the very first minute of the movie, the camera movements, the language, everything. It has a lot of action and adventure. The suspense is on its highest level so you'll be on the edge of your seat for the entire movie, it also have moments of good humor. The cast is excellent, beggining with Leonardo DiCaprio perhaps its best performance ever in my opinion, Jack Nicholson is great as always, Matt Damon and Mark Walhberg are also very good, Even Martin Sheen and Alec Baldwin are great although their characters are secondary, and the end of this movie is so impressive and unexpected, that you won't believe it

The Number 23 (2007,  R)
The Number 23
This is a awesome movie, I can say that it has almost everything, a little bit of comedy, suspense and horror, action and even romance. Its that kind of thriller where you cant lose a moment or even blink because you lose the movie. It has a very interesting and clever story and a very intriguing plot, it has a lot of unexpected twists, you will be on the edge of your seat the whole time. A competely amazing role for Jim Carrey, with some involuntary humor but also very dark and spooky, his performance really convince me. Joel Shumacher does an excellent directing job, one of its best movies ever in my opinion. The movie has a good rythm, kinda slow at the beggining but it gets better as the movie enters to its final part. You will finish obsessed with the number 23 at the end

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007,  R)
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
What a great movie, based on the hit Broadway musical which tell the story of Benjamin Barker a.k.a Sweeney Todd who returns to London after many years in jail to prepare his vengeance against Judge Turpin with the help of mysterious Mrs Lovett. It is the classic type of movie Tim Burton use to make, although its a musical it has a pretty sense of mystery and suspense, it also has some very good moments of black humor. The photography is excellent, everything so dark and creepy. The soundtrack is simply wonderful, it is a plus to the film that makes it even more enjoyable. The cast is just perfect, Johnny Depp with a flawless performance, Sweeney Todd is that kind of role that fits him very well, with the surprise that he didn't sing that bad, no wonder why he earned that Oscar nomination for best actor. Helena Bonham Carter is also wonderful in the role of Mrs. Lovett, watching her performance was a real joy. Alan Rickman was excellent as Judge Turpin and the supporting roles from Sacha Baron Cohen, Timothy Spall, Jamie Campbell Bower and Jayne Wisener were a very good complement. This is definitely one of the best movies of the year and one of the best musical I've ever seen, its really a pity that it has just a few nominations because it really deserves a lot more
26
Batman Begins (2005,  PG-13)

Spider-Man 2
the sequel of Spiderman is way better it has better special effects, the plot was better and the characters were better developed
28
Spider-Man 3 (2007,  PG-13)
Spider-Man 3
It was really good, the story and the plot were very well adapted, maybe not fully developed and with some corny moments but it all gets balanced with the action in the movie, some funny moments and the excellent fx's. The cast was very good Tobey Maguire is again great as Spiderman/Peter Parker, also Kirsten Dunst gives a good performance as M. J. The villians were terrific Thomas Haden Church excellent as Sandman, Topher Grace great performance as Venom/Eddie Brock and James Franco's New Goblin was very good also, just one thing the character of Gwen Stacy performed by Bryce Dallas Howard never fit on the story and wasn't necessary in my opinion.
29
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End (2007,  PG-13)
Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End
What can I say about POTC 3. there aren't enough word. Its exciting, intense, entertaining, funny and with lots of action. You cant blink not even for a second, it will keep you on the edge of your seat. The cast is wonderful, Johnny Depp's performance is flawless and once again is the best actor of the movie. Bloom and Knightley are also very good, Geoffrey Rush delivers a perfect role as captain Barbosa and Chow Yun Fat with a brief but convincible and strong acting job. The fx's were excellent and astonishing. Gore Verbinski gives us an amazing direction of the movie, just when you think he couldt improve what he did on POTC 2, he impresses you and does it again. A must see movie

WALL-E (2008,  G)
WALL-E
From time to time, there's a movie to be destined to become a masterpiece or a classic. This is the example of WALL-E. This is a movie that has everything for people to enjoy it to the fullest. A film visually extraordinary, a genuine love story, some exciting moments of adventure and with amazing comical parts that you won't stop laughing. But also has a very important message about making conscience of how we are taking care of the planet Earth. The story is very original, interesting, funny and even touching. With the least of dialogues, the movie carry you away with a very good rhythm and it never make it tiresome. The animation is fabulous, Pixar is always on a constant evolution. The music is great, every song fits perfectly and making a small reference to Stanley Kubrick's 2001: A Space Odyssey and other movies. In conclusion, this movie definitely is one of the best of the season if not the best one. As I said before destined to become the new classic of Disney's new era. Fully recommendable for all ages.
36
Kung Fu Panda (2008,  PG)
Kung Fu Panda
Went to see Kung Fu Panda on Saturday with very high expectations and I wasn't disappointed in fact, it was better than I thought. I was funny and it has a lot of action and adventure. It is also a movie that leaves you some valuable learning like "never give up" and "always believe in yourself". A very good story about an Enthusiastic, big and a little clumsy, Po is the biggest fan of kung fu around which doesn't exactly come in handy while working every day in his family's noodle shop. Unexpectedly chosen to fulfill an ancient prophecy, Po's dreams become reality when he joins the world of kung fu and studies alongside his idols, the legendary Furious Five--Tigress, Crane, Mantis, Viper and Monkey--under the leadership of their guru, Master Shifu. But before they know it, the vengeful and treacherous snow leopard Tai Lung is headed their way, and it's up to Po to defend everyone from the oncoming threat. It is like a tribute to all those Chinese kung fu movies. The cast of voices is excellent, Jack Black, Angelina Jolie, Jackie Chan, Lucy Liu, Dustin Hoffman, Seth Rogen and Michael Clark Duncan all with awesome performances. In conclusion, this is one of the best movie of the season and the best animated DreamWorks movie since Shrek 2.
37
The Lion King (1994,  G)
The Lion King
I have just three word to describe this movie. A real Classic
38
Ratatouille (2007,  G)
Ratatouille
Wow¡¡¡¡¡¡¡¡ this movie was so great, definitely on the top 3 of Disney-Pixar movies ever. This summer, where there are a bunch of sequels everywhere, this is by far the most original film of the season. A magnificent story, with awesome CGI and a funny, dinamic and emotional plot all this together forms a very realistic film. The cast of voices is excellent beggining with Peter O'Toole as Ego and Brian Denehy as Remy's dad, two great actors delivering a great performance, but the best one of all was Patton Oswalt with a incredible voice for Remy. Definitely we will see Ratatouille on the next Oscar nominations and Im sure no one will give any resistance on this film to win it.
39
Reservoir Dogs (1992,  R)
Reservoir Dogs
This movie is great. its a frenetic journey full of action, black humor and some very good twists. An excellent and interesting story about six unacquainted professional criminals are brought together by a veteran thief to execute an intricately planned diamond robbery. Quentin Tarantino's very first movie with a well developed script and wonderfully directed. The cast is simply amazing. Michael Madsen impress me with his role of Mr. Blonde, his scene on the warehouse is simply memorable. Harvey Keitel performance as Mr. White is flawless as always. Tim Roth as Mr. Orange gives us maybe his best acting job ever. Steve Buscemi as Mr. Pink was very convincing. Chris Penn was awesome and the brief appearance of Tarantino as Mr. Brown was really good. Definitely this movie is already a classic that everyone should see.
40
The Simpsons Movie (2007,  PG-13)
The Simpsons Movie
Brilliant, awesome, spectacular and funny. A real summer movie that has no more pretentions but entertain. When someone thinks that you already seen everything on the simpsons program after 18 seasons and 400 episodes, appears this film and gives you the very big surprise with a bunch of whole new adventures. It has a lot of references about other movies ( Harry POtter, Spiderman, Snow White and Night of the Living Dead), they mock on politics, religion and environment but with a moral message , and the brief apperances of famous people like Arnold Shwarszeneger as US president and Tom Hanks making a tv commercial. There are a lot of funny moments liek the one of the spider pig, and when bart is on his skateboard naked. The cast of voices were perfect, there's noone in the movoie you can say that was a bad. It was great to see almostevery Simpson character that have appeared on the show. In conclusion, a very enjoyable movie, perfect for all ages and totally worthy to watch it on the big screen. This movie deserves at least a nomination to the next Academy awards, and it won't be a suprise that it would win it
41
Superman Returns (2006,  PG-13)
Superman Returns
Whar can I say, I think the long wait for a new Superman movie was worth it.

43
300 (2007,  R)
300
Excellent movie based on Frank MIller's graphic novel, an adaptation noneless than perfect. This film can be consider as epic, well at least for me. You will spend two hours full of action, with the adrenaline to the top and seated on the edge of your seat with blood spilling battles and spartans growling towards war. Magnificent visual effects, they look so real and convincing. The cast is totally awesome all the actors deliver a solid performance, specially Gerard Butler as King Leonidas he really impress me.
Its a movie that already have a place as one of the best movies of the year.

46
Shrek the Third (Shrek 3) (2007,  PG)
Shrek the Third (Shrek 3)
I like it, although it isn't better than the previously two, this one still manages the same formula that still works to enjoy it and spend a very good time. You can laugh a lot, the mocks of classic fairy tales are quite good. The animation is excellent, the story great and the plot although its kinda slow at some moments was very good. The cast of voices was awesome as always, Mike Myers as always great, Cameron Diaz with a little less participation but very convincing, Eddie Murphy and Antonio Banderas were the best of the movie, the have very good chemistry between them, the best part was when they switch bodies. The incursion of new characters like Snow White (Amy Phoeler), Sleeping Beauty (Cheri Oteri), Cinderella (Amy Sedaris) and Artie (Justin Tmberlake) gives this Shrek sequel new life, the only one that seems a little out of the story was Merlin, I feel that this character wasn't fully justified in the story and it wasn't that funny.
47
Donnie Darko (2001,  R)
Donnie Darko
Great movie, one of the greatest I've ever seen. Its an impressive and mind blowing film with an interesting, original and complex story about a troubled teenager plagued with visions about a giant bunny who persuades him to commit crimes and told him that the end of the world is near. I has an excellent cast, Jake Gyllenhaal As Donnie Darko giving a astonishing performance, his best ever. Maggie Gyllenhaal was good, Patrick Swayze and Drew Barrymore very convincing and Noah Wyle with a very brief participation. This is already a cult movie. A real masterpiece. recommendable for everyone, well maybe not for everyone, just for those who are open minded.
48
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys) (1995,  R)
Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys)
There's not enough words to describe this movie. Its intriguing, original, interesting, breathtaking, shocking and authentic. With a very peculiar story that involves time travel and some concepts of life and with a 100% convincing and very well developed plot. The cast was simply magnificent. Bruce Willis as James Cole is flawless, Brad Pitt acting is superb, one of his best ever, Madeleine Stowe helps very much in her supporting role as a phsycatrist that helps Willis character. Terry Gilliam's direction is perfect, his style and personality is everywhere in this movie. To conclude, this already can be consider a modern masterpiece of the film industry.
49
3:10 to Yuma (2007,  R)
3:10 to Yuma
It is a great idea from the movie studios to bring back western movies, its been a long but a very long tie since I watched a good and decent western until today that I saw 3:10 to Yuma, a remake from a 1957 movie with the same name. This movie keeps the same formula of old time westerns but wit a whole new look. A very interesting story about a rancher who decides to escort an outlaw to the train station so he could take the 3:10 train to Yuma. The plot convince me a 100 %, it is very well developed. Its a film with lots of action and adventure, some involuntary humor. The timeline is perfectly portrayed on the landscapes, the scenery and the costume design. The direction from John Mangold is excellent, it has a very good rythm, thing that makes the movie very enjoyable. It has a wonderful cast, Russell Crowe gives one of his best performances as the legendary outlaw Ben Wade, Christian Bale is also amazing in his role of rancher Dan Evans. A great revelation was young actorLogan Lerman in his role as Dan's older son William, it was a really good performance. In the supporting roles we have to mention Ben Foster as Charlie Prince and Peter Fonda as Byron McElroy, their acting were pretty impressive. To conclude, this was a very enjoyable and entertaining movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat. Very recommendable.
50
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou (2004,  R)
The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
This movie is great. One of the best I've seen. It is funny, with very good action and adventure, and also very dramatic. An original story with a interesting plot about Internationally famous oceanographer Steve Zissou and his crew--Team Zissou--set sail on an expedition to hunt down the mysterious, elusive, possibly non-existent Jaguar Shark that killed Zissou's partner during the documentary filming of their latest adventure. The movie is formed by an all-star cast including Bill Murray, Cate Blanchett, Willem Dafoe, Angelica Huston, Owen Wilson and Jeff Goldblum everyone with excellent performances. Directed by Wes Anderson, this guy have a unique way of transmitting through movies . This movie is visually beautiful, it has a very good rhythm which make the movie enjoyable, he adds a very intelligent humor where the comedy comes from the situation and not from a joke. In conclusion this is a entertaining and enjoyable movie worth to see and highly recommendable.

Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer (2007,  PG)
Fantastic Four: Rise of the Silver Surfer
So much better than the first one. The story was excellent, almost a perfect adaptation from the comic, the plot also is very faithful and convincing. The fx's were excellent. The cast were good also the actors really made and effort to represent their roles, Michael Chiklis and Doug Jones as the thing and silver surfer respectively are the best ones, Jessica Alba looks hotter than ever, Ioan Grufudd and Chris Evans are also very good. The only thing that I didn't like was that Galactus never appeared on the film, it would be great to see him there, maybe they are waiting for a third film for him to appear

The plot is excellent with a very awesome, original and unique storyline. The acting jobs from all the cast were terrific, specially from Franka Potente.
