Cuz I'm cool.
2046 2. 2046 R 5.0 Stars
A romantic fever dream of Philip K. Dick that he forgot to write down. The drunk night you spent in Hong Kong, after she left you. Even if you've never experienced these things before, you will know them after 2046.
Monkey Business 3. Monkey Business Unrated 5.0 Stars
Just about the most pure Marx Brothers film in the canon. Others would prove more popular, none would be more Marx.
Some Like It Hot 4. Some Like It Hot Unrated 5.0 Stars
A marvelous example of construction. The comedy works because the architectiure underneath is so strong. Perfect scriptwriting. And Lemmon.
Chungking Express 5. Chungking Express PG-13 4.5 Stars
Tony Leung Chiu Wai and Faye Wong. I mean, like you need more reasons to see this. C'est impossible. Pas de possible.
Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead 6. Rosencrantz & Guildenstern Are Dead PG 4.5 Stars
Long, boring, unevenly paced, unnecessarily drab, but oh so smart and wonderful. Performances for the ages, philosophy to die for, and nice costumes. It's lodged in my heart.

Okay so I feel obligated to give Messrs Lucas, Harrison & Spielberg the three minimum stars they deserve for kickin up some old school fun. However, I feel that this story only had a good start. The rest was just to finish it up, not finishin it strong. Insufficient humour and alien bits seem a bit off to me too. Ray Winstone is sellin out fast! Ah goodbye, Indy!
Fellas, it was okay I guess.

Effective but not tight enough. This is the way to make romantic comedies with a low budget - just make it realistic! I never thought a broken-hearted Hoover-fixer sucker guy could be so charmin ha!
Hmmmm... great date movie, even on DVD. Do it, do it!

I'm handicapped by my class and I don't know much about this conflict but it's obvious this isn't somethin profound like La Haine, although you can probably see that it is a genuine attempt to tell a similar story about youth disenfranchisement. Can a Croat please educate me?
    Anyone seen this? Please advise.

Thought that the sex doll was gonna expose how fake people are. Better yet, it showed how easy it is to ascribe meanin, as long as you are sincere. A most subtle and charmin piece of decompensation behaviour, thanks to that man Ryan Gosling. Nailed Lars alright.
The thinkin man's Mannequin? Worth watchin for the acting alone.

Sure, palace politics was sexier and more fun in Curse Of The Golden Flower or The Banquet but where else can you watch Koreans usin fingernail torture? Some genuine storytellin here, unlike the mainstream South Korean shyte that flood the market. Complementary supernatural twist included.
Deserves a watch, really. A representation of better Korean cinema.

This is the reason Chinese tourists all over the world get asked if they know kungfu. A cruel reflection of globalisation and commercialism indeed. Only thing amusin was Jackie Chan's introduction, a hark back exactly 30 years ago in Drunken Master.
Watch it to say you have but be disappointed.

Honestly, quite borin. Unnecessary slow buildup to what could have been a decent caper. Skanky Argento is probably playin herself. In fact all the characters look too real - meanin, they're incredibly borin and say incredibly borin things. Maggie Cheung's Clean was a much better effort from Assayas. I really like how Chinese people appear in Assayas' films!

For a Hindi film, this turned out pretty decent. It felt genuine and the melodrama can be quite rewardin at times. Akshaye has that look which convinces you that he truly is unlucky and he doesn't mean to be the cunt that he is. Of course, he looks nothin like the apparent real life bastard that we read about.
Slightly stretched and rather positive still but the subject is unique enough for a watch.

Half-arsed NZ could-have-been that didn't benefit from Behr's two-tone face of stone nor the fact that it faked all gore, spooks and sex. Totally shortchanged. Ferryman beats this hands down. I can't believe this didn't even work as a special interest film for a tattoo enthusiast such as myself.

I don't remember feelin this stressed out since Michael Douglas in Falling Down. How a movie can open with a pasty-faced white whale like Seymour Hoffman humpin the delectable Marisa Tomei and not suck? Slow-burnin, bad-to-worse suspenseful viewin. Lumet is back in the groove - yeah!
Didn't really benefit from the non-linear storytellin but still good performances. Reminds me of Coens' Blood Simple.

I don't know if that was how the book wanted to do it. If anythin, Amir's redemption is totally rushed and rather unlikely. The fake kite-flyin scenes made me feel short-changed too. Poor kids, I hope they got paid right in the end. Studio people, stop rippin people off!
Overrated but good enough. Did you know that these kids are apparently livin in UAE on some compensation money from the studio people because they are ostracised in their society after the movie?

This was obviously a sexploitation flick but I can't get anythin out of it. My first Jesus Franco movie I think. Anyway, the only thing I remember from it is a woman flickin her clit with a burnin cigarette.

prettypersuasion, I can't believe you and I watched this. The DVD cover had me completely fooled. I thought C-grade sexploitation flicks don't get made anymore but it looks like I'm mistaken. And shitty British horror actress Fiona Horsey looks like a horse - I wasn't goin to be rude but I'm still angry I paid for this DVD.
She stuffs a rocket up his arse and lights it and instead of explodin, it actually shoots out through his stomach, spillin his guts, in an amazingly poor CG scene. Ugh!!!

Julie Delpy is a bitch in person, isn't she? Thoroughly disapprove of her character and thoroughly feel for Adam Goldberg's. I guess this is how cross cultural relationships are. This movie has not made me any more sympathetic towards Parisians, which is what I gather it intended to do.
Julie Delpy and good friend Adam Goldberg playing themselves. Is it still actin? Funny though.

Nothin exceptional here but Brazilian underclass looks truly believable and the chemistry is great. Good music, Alice Braga and that supple body made Cidade Baixa a decent movie that manages to escape its flaws most of the time.

The sweet naked body of Erika Marozsán in Gloomy Sunday once made me vow to save up money for a trip to Hungary to ask for her hand. Sadly, I have waited 10 years for a movie this mediocre, didactic and pointless to be her first Hollywood foray, and also I have found someone else.
Morgan Freeman's worst movie. Greg Kinnear's worst movie. Erika Marozsan's worst movie. Radha Mitchell's worst movie. Selma Blair's worst movie. Fred Ward's worst movie.
