Efter brylluppet (After the Wedding)
Beyond any shadow of a doubt the very best movie I have ever seen. This writer has captured every emotion that a person can have. I listen to it in Dutch with English Subtitles. Even the still shots had meaning you just have to think about them. Every actor should be an award winner. Oh yea its in the collection.
3
Lagaan - Once Upon a Time in India (2001,  PG)
Lagaan - Once Upon a Time in India
WOW 3hrs 50 Mins long, now that?s a movie. Why is it that every time I watch a movie made or produced or about India, I learn something. Unlike most American Movies this one contains no glitter just facts and enjoyment. I really don't think its about sports at all, its about a tradition which I hope has not been lost. this movie is full of characters, each one has his own little quirk that you will learn to love before the movie is over. The singing hey its not the American or British Top Ten, and its an excellent addition to the movie. The upper white class once again meets it match with those who are considered the untouchables in the 1800 British Occupation of India. A must see film. If all the women of India are this beautiful, I just might take on a wife before I leave this world. 5 stars nothing short of.

Danger: Diabolik (1968,  PG-13)
Danger: Diabolik
Danger Diabolik - A outstanding movie from 1968. Diabolik was taken from an Italian Comic, much like our marvel comics. Diabolik movie was made about the same time as Batman (adam West) Appeared on our TV screens, good thing we didn't see Diabolik as we would have never turn Batman Back on. Move over Batman, Austin Powers, and James Bond. Bava and Diabolik are king. If you haven't seen or heard of this movie give it a chance.
12
Joyeux Noël (Merry Christmas) (2006,  PG-13)

The Green Mile (1999,  R)
The Green Mile
Out of all the Stephan King Books that have been made into movies this is by far the best one. Tom Hanks was the right actor for this part. If you haven't seen it Mr. Jiingles will chage your mind and heart. triva question what other movie was Jingles mentioned???? Ad this one to your collection.

16
Elena et les hommes (Elena and Her Men) (Paris Does Strange Things) (1956,  Unrated)
Elena et les hommes (Elena and Her Men) (Paris Does Strange Things)
A Full 5 Stars, I seldom do that. This is Movie from the Criterion Collection, like most movies from this collection its outstanding. Its in French with English Subtitles. Its easy to see that Ingrid Bergman was both beautiful and talented. We really don't see that in Female actors today, They are hot for a while but there flame burns out quickly. Back in the Day and Actor or Actress was just that.
17
Hack! (2007,  R)
Hack!
I for one thought this was a excellent slasher flix, horror with some comedy, so lighten up and enjoy a good flix.

L'Armée des ombres (Army in the Shadows) (1969,  Unrated)
L'Armée des ombres (Army in the Shadows)
This Movie is from the Criterion
Collection, Spine Number 385. This movie was made 39 years ago, and was voted best film of 2006. About the French Resistance during World War II. A true Masterpiece. A Must See. In French with English Subtitles. Only bad part is the German Soliders have no subtitles. Will find its way in my collection.
23
Killers from Space (1954,  Unrated)
Killers from Space
I remember this movie being on Chiller Theather on WPIX or WOR out of NY when I was growing up, it was actually one of the few that played a few times. Think I would have named it Dudes with Big Eyes (Thought Dudes wasn't said much back then). I found it in the Mill Creek SciFi Classics 50 pack, excellent footage of older aircraft and the testing of the A-Bomb, wonder how all those people who actually sat in chairs to watch this firery Explosion made out. Anyway sit back, and enjoy and relive the days of Chiller Theather.
24
La Tarantola dal Ventre Nero (Black Belly of the Tarantula) (1972,  R)
La Tarantola dal Ventre Nero (Black Belly of the Tarantula)
Not sure how or why I put this on my Netflix Rental List, but its A Good Italian Police Drama, I know an Italian Western is called a Spagetti Western, so do you call this Spagetti Deama. Anyway I would put this one in the Grindhouse Collection as it had that type of 1970 theme. A bit of nudity and they were all very pretty not a ugly one in the bunch.
25
The Mark (1961,  Unrated)
The Mark
How could this movie be bad, its got Rod Steiger in it, after all he was born in the same town as I and the same Day, just not the same year, thank God. Movie show's how people really think about you no matter what you have gone through. Stereo Type. Its in Black & White and Ole School but a hell of a film. My opion this should be part of the Criterion Collection.
26
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale (2006,  PG-13)
In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale
Excellent Movie. One that I will add to My collection. Jason Statham played the part, wham!. Bert Reynolds, what movie made him famous, I remember growing up my Mom being all excited about this as were other women, there sure must have been a lack of talent during that time frame. Either that or he fell on his head somewhere along the way or was it the bottle Bert. Still Movie is 5 stars.
27
The Half Life of Timofey Berezin (PU-239) (2006,  R)
The Half Life of Timofey Berezin (PU-239)
To me a really good movie, maybe beacuse of the number of times I have been to Russia and seen the conditions people live in over there. Great story, feel that Russian Nuclear Submarine Sailors and Crewmen (KGB). have to live with these facts often, as I am sure the goverment sweep's them up and ships them to somewhere secret in the Motherland, most likely Northern Russia. A dissapointing ending, it just ended. Comical gand Members. A Rental. Not a Add to any collection. Would have gotten my 5 stars had it ended better. Oh Russian women are always welcome.
28
The Last Legion (2007,  PG-13)
The Last Legion
One of The Best Sword And Stone Movies Out there. Everything was Excellent. I can Smell a Sequal, Sword in the STone or King Arthur. A great addition tyo any collection.
29
Paddle to the Sea (1966,  Unrated)
Paddle to the Sea
Excellent Childrens / Adult Movie. Native American Theme. The person reading the story I would say is from the Disney Film Era of 1960-1970 when Disney was Disney. Only 28 Minutes Long but worth getting your hands on.

No. 1 of the Secret Service (Her Majesty's Top Gun)(Tell the Other Guy to Move Over! I'm Number One) (1977,  R)
No. 1 of the Secret Service (Her Majesty's Top Gun)(Tell the Other Guy to Move Over! I'm Number One)
Kind of a Comical Secret Agent Film, With a good plot. Plenty of Gags and Spoofs. Sure has drew my interest in to the Sixty's Spy Maina Films. I would add it to my collect. I was lucky to find it in the Grindhouse Experience Volume 2 Top 20 Films, Wish the would come out with Volume 3 - 4 - 5 - 6 - 7 - 8 and so on.
31
Storm Warning (1951,  PG)
Storm Warning
Ronald Reagan is the Man, He had all the dolls, In this movie he is with Doris Day and Ginger Rogers, now thats as good as it gets. It was neat to see some of Ron's movements and actions that folloed him thur life. In this movie he takes on the KKK. Its an excellent movie. The klan kills a white reporter for sticking his nose where it doesn't belong, and Ginger is a witness. Rent it or Buy its a Must.
32
Laurel & Hardy: March of the Wooden Soldiers (1934,  Unrated)
Laurel & Hardy: March of the Wooden Soldiers
Have Seen this movie so many times I stopped counting, I couldn't wait to see it on TV when I was a Kid. It was on every Christmas Day wither on WPIX or WOR TV, back when rabbit ears or the Antenna Dad put on the roof would get us maybe 5 channels total. Anyway I will watch it again come Christmas Day. Its the Best Christmas Movie out there.
33
Tenebre, (Unsane) (1982,  Unrated)
Tenebre, (Unsane)
One of Dario Argento many films, this one came out in 1982. As with all Argento nothing short of spectacular. right from the beginning we see some graphic murder scenes, a knife to the neck and if that?s not enough, lets slash her throat. My copy came from the Mill Creek Drive in Movie 50 pack, and you could tell it was a copy of a vhs tape as it had some imperfections in the showing, but for price I paid for the Mill Creek Collection, I can't complain. Get it and add it to the collection. Prepare for plenty of blood and get ready for a outstanding twist at the end.
34
Woman on the Run (1950,  Unrated)
Woman on the Run
A great Black & White Suspense Film, I came upon it because its on a list of Ross Elliott Films, He doesn't play a big part, but the actors that do are great. Ann Sheridan is a doll. Her Husband is out walking the dog when he sees a Murder, but he goes into hiding because he knows the killer, and the killer is after him. The killer poses as a newspaper man who teams up with Ann to track down her husband, unknowing to Ann. Ann doesn?t like her husband much until she starts searching for him and finds out he truly loves her. Everything a Black & White Movie Should Be, 4 Stars and added to the collection. Should you rent it or Buy it, You better do one or the other you will not be sorry.
35
Red Sun (1972,  PG)
Red Sun
A Great Movie, You will find this in some catalogs as a Spaghetti Western, I don't know it just didn't have that good ole Spaghetti Western Quality aka: B-Movie effect. After all some outstanding stars in this one. Charles Bronson, Toshiro Mifune (The Greatest Sword Fighter Ever), Alain Delon (Fabio Montale ) , And the ever so trampy Ursula Andress Now I am not sure why guys were so excited to see Ursula in any movie, nothing I have seen impresses me. But this movie is worth 4 stars, I really though it was filmed in the US, but come to find out its in Spain. Charles Bronson and Toshiro Mifune run around the country side trying to track down Alan Delon who stole the gold the sword and has Ursula, In the End only Charles Rides away but not in to the sunset, its a shame because I believe that Charles and Toshiro could have made many movies together. Its a good Western Add it to any collection, if you can find it. (Very Expensive). 4 Stars

Affair in Trinidad (1952,  Unrated)
Affair in Trinidad
Another one of those movies on the list from the Ross Elliott List on IMBD Data Base. Even though he only played Corpse of Neal Emery, thel late husband of Rita Hayworth, in this movie, I guess his part lasted all of 12 sceonds if that. But it introduced me to the acting of not only the Beautiful ms Hayworth but it showed me a side of Glenn Ford I never saw before, I just wasn't used to seeing Gleen duke it out with someone. Its a great movie, Rita Hayworth's husband while living in Tridad is found dead, the first report is suicided but we all know that doesn't make a movie, only murder does, So in the movie we track who the killer was, and yes even this many years after WWII we are still trying to connect the German's with the plot of overthrowing the USA, gee what ever happen to than and how much money was wasted, kind of like the Terriost threat of today. anyway its a great movie, Rita shows her talent and beauty. Buy it, rent it, borrow it but most of all see it. 5 Stars
37
The Big Town (1987,  R)
The Big Town
Have to give this one 4 Stars, I just can't believe I have never seen it till today. Matt Dillon plays an excellent part, and I will now read the book The Arm, which this film was made from. Reason I watched this is because of Suzy Amis, I am trying to see all films she played in, and she did a good job in this one playing the good girl role. Matt is a dice roller, making his living that way in Chicago, he meets Suzy and Diane Lane, and is trying to choose between the two, of course del is the bad girl, but I would have picked her anyway. Tommy Lee Jones was in this one and he play an excellent part. If you have passed this one up thinking its a junk film you couldn't be more wrong I was. You can find it in the $5.00 Bin at Wally World and the $3.00 Bin at Big Lots, Pick it up and be surprised. I was.

Iqbal (2005,  Unrated)
Iqbal
The sport of Cricket, is cricket a sport??? You better believe it is and this film shows the love people of India have for it. This movie is about a young man with the handicap of not being able to speak or hear, hearing I am not sure of. But having never played cricket before with any team he gets in a playoff for India's National cricket team and makes it, Kind of like Invincible and the Rookie rolled into one. A outstanding movie thought not as well written with characters as Laggan was, but still a 5 star movie, having never been to India and only seeing people of this culture in passing, it makes me wish for the opportunity to me someone from there or travel there in order to meet the few good people left in this world. 5 Stars nothing less, a must see must rental.

Frontière(s) (Frontier(s)) (2007,  NC-17)
Frontière(s) (Frontier(s))
This is from the 8 Films to Die for 2008 series, I have watched the other 7, and this is the eight, and I can say beyond any shadow of a doubt this is the very best one. Some people compare it to hostel, Texas Chainsaw, and Saw. But no no this writer has a touch all his own and if you can't see it your blind. Had me on the very edge of my seat after the first 20 minutes, Creeped me out and its been a very long time since a movie did that, you can feel the pain as each person is eliminated. This is not a I want to See, this is a Go Out AND Get It Tomorrow, a boost for the 8 Films to Die for and can't wait till 2009 series comes out. Oh yes a Collectable worth the price of $7.50 at Wally's world.
40
Four Rode Out (1970,  Unrated)
Four Rode Out
This is filmed in Spain so I guess puts it in the near category of Spaghetti Western, though its not quite the same as a Italian Western. In this one a US Marshall (Pernell Roberts who is Adam on Bonanza) is chasing a Mexican bad guy, and joining him in the chase which totally blew my mind is Mr. Brown (played by Leslie Nielsen) can you believe it. And also in the chase is the most beautiful Myra Polsen who is played by Sue Lyon. Well in the end only the Marshall makes it back across the desert, my only question is how come it only took a day and little desert to find the bad guy, but took 5 days to get back with horses and people dropping like flies after a raid bug bomb has gone off. Anyway 2 1/2 stars about the best color in a film released by Mill Creek, as this came from the Mill Creek Mean Guns 20 pack collection which was found in Big Lots for $3.99. 20 movies for $3.99 not bad.
41
The Return (Vozvrashcheniye) (2003,  Unrated)
The Return (Vozvrashcheniye)
The Return aka: ??????????? . This is a Russian Film sold by Kino International (Check there website). It fits in the category of World Cinema. It is in Russian with English Subtitles. The director Andrei Zvyagintsev has put out 3 other films, all I am told are very good. Each and every Kino International Film that I have watch has been very good. I am sure there are some who would disagree with me, and I am sure there are most wouldn't even pickup a Kino Film. But this one is worth 5 stars, its about 2 boys who come home one day to find their father who has been out of there life?s for 12 years, no explanation as to where he has been, sailor, prisoner, or gangster, we do not know or are we told. The father takes the boys on a trip, one boy shows his father respect and is kind, the other hates the man and makes his life miserable. many twist throughout. Its a must see, acting is beyond, above the bar, nothing but great. 5 stars nothing less, put away Spiderman and pick up a different film, once you see one of this type you might not go back to the common stuff. Its in my collection.
42
Something's Gotta Give (2003,  PG-13)
Something's Gotta Give
Filmed in the Hamptons (Gosh I miss home). I am glad I didn't see this in the Movie theater as I would have been thrown out for laughing so loud and hard. I never have laugh so much for one movie. Diane Keaton is one beautiful lady. She plays her part with gusto. No one other then Jack Nicholson could play this part and keep everyone laughing, when we lose Jack we will lose comedy as only he can perform it. The scene where he sees Diane naked is one that will leave you laughing even after the movie is over. Top shelve in my collection 5 stars.

El Fantasma de la casa roja (The Phantom of the Red House) (1956,  Unrated)
El Fantasma de la casa roja (The Phantom of the Red House)
Phantom of the Red House

This is a real cool Mexican Horror / Comedy, it's a hidden riot, I laugh all through out the film. How I came across it was while looking up the movie The Living Coffin a web site recommended I see The Phantom of the Red House and I am Glad I did. K. Gordon Murray Brought this movie North of the Mexican Border, You know the movie is going to be a trip with charters named Mercedes Benz de Carrera (the Female heroine ). I expected Abbott & Costello, or The east Side Kids to show up at any minute, this is the kind of Slap Stick humor you will find in this move. A Rich relative leaves a fortune to a young lady and hides 6 million in his mansion for those hearing the will to find after staying in the haunted mansion for 3 days. Mean while a phantom is running around the house, looks like a fat Zorro and he is killing people. There are secret passageways, sliding pictures with daggers coming out of the closet and the wall, its just a all around funny horror movie, Now in the way of horror its like the Wolfman meets abbot & Costello Horror. Not sure that we are hearing this in original voices, seems to be dubbed in to me which takes a little away from he picture. But I will give it 4 stars and add it to my collection.
44
Iron Will (1994,  PG)
Iron Will
Its good to see that in 1994 Excellent and Clean movies were still being put out with the Disney name attached to them, unlike those of this day and age with Disney / Pixtar label. After all old Walt would turn in his grave at some of the modern day Disney films, but this is not one of them, who ever wrote the plot for this web page is way off base ( matter fact it's a copy from Amazon dot com). This is an excellent movie about a 17 year old boy racing across Canada to St Paul Minnesota in a dog sled race to win $10000 to save his Mom's farm and go to college. All the things in a Disney movie that makes it good including tears (Pass a Kleenex), are found in this movie. This is based on the 1917 Dog Race in Canada combining 2 characters into one. Its worth sitting down with the pop corn and just enjoying, and of by the way you don't have to be a kiddy to enjoy it. 5 stars nothing less.
45
Swept From The Sea (1998,  PG-13)
Swept From The Sea
A Wonderful friend told me to see this movie (I will let her pick out more for me).and am I glad I ever did. This is not just a romance movie. This is beyond that, with stellar acting by all, you wish the movie could go on. It shows how mean people can be to a perfectly happy couple. I was spellbound, its a must sea movie for all, if you enjoy films then get this one and you will give it no less then 4 stars. I have to give it 5 as its one of the best I have seen. Thank You Raimoyna
46
The Fall (2006,  R)
The Fall
Once again an fantastic film would have slipped by me had it not been for my dear friend in Greece, she is 2 for 2 in the movie recommendation department. This one is a sleeper, meaning that I never heard of it and it got by me. It take place in the 1920's in a field hospital in California, a little girl is injured and while in the hospital she makes friends with a injured Hollywood stuntman, he tells her a story about 5 worthy bandits from all corners of the world, the scene are breath taking, when is the last time you seen a elephant swimming in a open ocean, unreal, the castles, the desert everything, the scenes alone will blow you away. The only thing keeping it from being 5 stars is the way the movie ended, but don't let my opion stop you from seeing this film, its a must in any film seekers collection.
47
The Assignment (1997,  R)
The Assignment
Excellent CIA thriller, even though this is from the 1997 time frame, its still got plenty of action, and at the end of the movie when the KGB raids Carlos's home, it shows some pretty cool spy devices that are still in use today, ask any Swat Team Member. Reason I rented it is because it was on a 1997 Toronto International Film Festival List and I am reviewing all those movies as time permits. This movie has plenty of action and I feel that Aidan Quinn, Donald Sutherland, and Ben Kingsley played excellent parts. The Movie shows a part that?s supposed to be a Naval Officers house in Norfolk Virginia, sorry but their are no background mountains in Norfolk Virginia unless you count Mt Trashmore. But its an excellent movie with good chase scenes and stunts, A real life adventure, based on a real story. 5 Stars nothing less.

The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake (1959,  Unrated)
The Four Skulls of Jonathan Drake
First time I saw this was when it was shown on WPIX or WOR when I lived out on the Island. Came on late night on Chiller Theatre, man how I used to love to stay up and watch that program. This movie is pretty cool, a family has a curse on them, and Jonathan is the last brother alive and his skull is needed to complete the curse. It seems shrunken heads keep popping up in this movie. Jonathan shows up in South America to help his brother only to find his brother is dead. Unknowing to anyone at the time a South American Indian whose lips are sealed shut with a sneaker lace stuck him in the neck with a poison Bamboo Knife,(yea go figure on that one). Anyway at the funeral Jonathan wants the coffin open, and wham when its open the old brother is missing his head. Now there is a Witch Doctor running around posing as a doctor, again not know to use is that he is a witch doctor who has a white man's head on a Black Man's Body, hence the witch doctor. And that?s who is trying to complete the curse, and who is shrinking heads. The detective running around is about as smart as a box of cheerio?s. All in all it was an enjoyable B&W film, I'd like to give it 3 1/2 stars, they just don't make them like this anymore. Its added to the collection.
49
The Secret Life of Bees (2008,  PG-13)
The Secret Life of Bees
So Far the very Best film in 2009 that I have seen. Can't pick the best actor in this one. Dakota Fanning, Jennifer Hudson, Queen Latifah, Alicia Keys, Sophie Okonedo should of all gotten awards for there acting in this one. A 1000 other people will review this film, bottom line is you need to see it. A better understanding comes from living in the south. I never knew anyone but my father knew another use for grits besides eating them I about fell over on that scene. 5 stars nothing else. Oh yea add it to your collection.
50
Queimada (Burn!) (The Mercenary) (1969,  PG-13)
Queimada (Burn!) (The Mercenary)
An outstanding film, one of the unheard of Brando films, a young Brando at that. I came across a review in Shock Cinema Magazine the reason I got this film, and it was everything I expected by the review. Brando plays a agent for the British Government in the 1800's and he starts a revolt against the Portuguese colony in the Caribbean. This film made in 1968 was I am sure something seen in very few movie houses, maybe underground or 42nd Street, but I doubt it was in the local Movie Mart. How does one rate Evaristo Márquez performance, there is not enough stars. Over all the movie is worth 5 stars.
51
To Kill A Mockingbird (1962,  Unrated)
To Kill A Mockingbird
This is how I want to remember Gregory Peck. No matter what other film I see him in this is where my mind settles. I have seen this film 30 times if I have seen it once, Even had to sit and watch it in High School, Its a movie I will never get tired of. Mary Badham played the true Southern Sister, so all you Northern Girls hid behind your brothers. This movie was as much as the south as Gone With The Wind Is. If you never have sat down to watch it you owe it to yourself before it becomes forgotten history. How could anyone rate it without 5 Stars.
52
Smilla's Sense of Snow (1997,  R)
Smilla's Sense of Snow
The Best Movie I have seen for the Month of March, ranks as an all time high. Smilla is a star. The suspense will keep you on the edge of your chair. I can't believe that this film didn't get more awards, its a sleeper. Other then the Berlin International Film Festival I don't think it showed up anywhere else. The young boy played a good part. A must see must add to any collection, starts in Greenland then to Denmark, my type of film, one that shows anything but America. 5 Stars. Thank you.
53
Young Tiger (1973,  Unrated)
Young Tiger
This movie list Jackie Chan with his picture on the DVD Cover, but you have to be good to find Jackie in this movie, No he's not the guy with the mole on his face, he make 5-6 short set appearances in this movie, be sharp and you will spot him. He plays a bad guy. My copy is from Beverly Wilshire Film Works / Telefilms International, I picked my copy up at a yard sale for a dollar, and when I see what its selling for at Amazon, I got a good deal. but after watching this I wonder why anyone would pay more then a dollar. My copy was extra wide screen, no there was no slide saying this movie was modified to fit your screen. All the English dubbing is not those of charters in the video. I swear my copy had two openings one seem totally unrelated to the film. The movie finally started making sense about 1/2 through it. But Jackie is far from the main star. I knew I was in trouble when the opening credits listed Jackie as JACKY CHAN. But if your into ole school Kung Fu with some drama you will like this, not the worst and still haven't seen the best so its hard to rate this one but I will give it 3 1/2 stars. As you can see I watch all types of films, so if you have something special that you like send me a recommendation.

The Edge (1997,  R)
The Edge
This movie came off a list from the 1997 Toronto International Film Festival. Anthony Hopkins at his Best. Alec Baldwin played a good part also. If I ever saw a bear this dam big I am not sure running would have been the answer, I think I could have learned to fly real fast. Anyway it shows Alaska Wilderness at its best and its fully of suspense and drama. If you have ever been in a survival situation you will love this movie. Those living outside the USA, this is one American film I will recommend to you and I seldom Recommend any American Films after 1990, most are junk that?s why I enjoy the Foreign Films and early B&W American Films, but that?s another story. I like the part that Anthony Hopkins played, a wealthy man who knew a lot and could remember just about anything from a book. Don't let the fact this film was made in 1997 keep you from watching it. Its one I am sure you will add to your collection, nothing less then 5 stars. Thank You.

Saving Sarah Cain (2007,  Unrated)
Saving Sarah Cain
With a Title like that you would think this is a chick film, but you like me would be wrong. Its pure family. Good Christian Family Film at That. At the age of 14 I had the pleasure of spending the summer living with a Amish Family, some things I saw in this film I don't remember their doing, so I question if all of the movies actions were authentic. The movie has a wonderful ending, bring out the Kleenex. 4 1/2 stars. The youngest of the Amish Actors female gets 5 stars. Get it and add it to your collection.

Panic in Year Zero! (End of the World) (1962,  Unrated)
Panic in Year Zero! (End of the World)
Have to give this one 4 1/2 stars, its a great survival movie. And they snuck Frankie Avalon in there on me. And with actors with the first name of Rex, Willis, O.Z., How can a movie be that bad. This movie came out right around the time of the Cuban Missile crisis, and I am sure it frighten a few people. Its a good film with lessons learned for today as you never know with the way things are in the world, survival may become our lifestyle soon. I got this on a MGM Double feature for $6.95, worth every penny. And I would add it to any collection.

Ercole l'invincibile (Hercules the Invincible) (Son of Hercules in the Land of Darkness) (1964,  Unrated)
Ercole l'invincibile (Hercules the Invincible) (Son of Hercules in the Land of Darkness)
Don Vadis plays the part of Hercules in this film, out of all those actors who have played Hercules, I would say he has the best build for the part. I this one Hercules not only fights a evil queen but also must fight a dragon. The Evil Queen captures Hercules and orders him to be pulled apart by elephants, but as every Saturday afternoon TV watching kid in the Sixties knew, Hercules not only came through this without a scratch or a flea, but in the process he kicked some butt. My copy came from Mill Creek 50 Pack Warriors collection. This one is worth the standard 3 stars when it comes to Hercules movies.

Paradise Road (1997,  R)
Paradise Road
How can you give this film anything but 5 Stars. If there is one thing I enjoy about any movie, is the fact that I learned something from it. It is ashamed that it takes 50 years to learn the secrets of a War. There seems to be more and more movies coming out that tell us of these hidden secrets. This is based on a true story. I had no idea that women were held prisoner of war during World War II. All the actors were outstanding. The Human Vocal band was out of this world. And as many captives will tell you, you must band together and work on something to keep your mind from whets really happening. This is a must see and a must add to the collection. 5 stars.

The Bad Seed (1956,  Unrated)
The Bad Seed
A True Masterpiece. The Very Best Evil Child Movie ever mad, far better them Oman or anything else that has evil kids in it. Hard to believe that somewhere deep behind the scenes that Alfred Hitchcock didn't have a hand in making this movie. The little girl Rhoda who is played by Patty McCormick was only 8 years old when she made this movie, In look at this film then show Hollywood that this young lady could handle anything put in front of her. The father was played by William Hopper who was also Perry Mason's P.I. Others who played in this were Henry Jones who played Leroy, and he often played this part, I remember seeing him in a lot of Black & White Movies. Rhoda is a spoiled little child who gets what she wants and when a class mate wins the penmanship award and gets a medal for it, well Rhoda is going to get that Medal one way or another. Soon the class mate turns up dead, and Rhoda isn't bothered by it. This is just the start of many twist of events. If you pass this one up, you are passing one of the greatest B&W movies made for suspense. Oh yea 5 stars, that tell you anything. 35 years later Patty McCormick when on to make an unofficial sequel to Bad Seed called Mommy, I would recommend you seeing that one also. In Mommy the roles are reversed she is the Mommy and the girl that plays the evil daughter is just as bad.

Tormented (1960,  Unrated)
Tormented
Its not often I give a Black & White Movie anything above 3 stars, Its just hard to obtain that status, don't get me wrong, Hitchcock can do it, and there have been a few others, but I don't think Alpha Video has much in there library that gets up in that category. But this movie does. Not what I call a horror movie, more of a suspense type move, that came out in 1960, and back then everyone was competing with Hitchcock and the Sci-Fi boys from Japan, But this movie sparked my interest from start to finish, In a time when Jazz Players were better know as Beatniks and also carried the label as being bad, Tom Steward played by Richard Carson is our Jazz Player, who is going to marry rich girl Sandy Hubbard, who is played by Susan Gordon who in real life is Bert I Gordon's (The Director of this Film)Daughter. Now Susan didn't miss a beat she was an outstanding actress in this movie. Anyway Tom has a little side action on the side who shows up on the Island and he's got to get rid of her, what better way then to take her to the top of the lighthouse to slip off, Tom had a chance to save her but he lets kill two birds (or one Bit*h) with one stone. Well she comes back to haunt Tom. I will not go into details to give the rest away, but if your a Black & White Buff this should be in your collection. 4 1/2 stars easy.

Quarantine (2008,  R)
Quarantine
WOW ! And that would say it all for this movie. It has been a very long time since I have held my head, put my arms on top of my head, put my hands over my eyes, and turned my head away, but this movie put the smack down on me. No movie has made me this jumpy in a very long time, when it was over my dog made the door move and creak and I about jumped out of my shoes. I know nothing about the actors, but they were grate. As far as some of the comments about it being like cloverfield, all I can say is I didn't puke and have to leave 20 minutes into the movie. You can tell there is going to be a sequel and I can't wait. 4 1/2 stars/ A breath short of 5 stars. Oh yea see it and add it to the collection.

Willie Dynamite (1974,  R)
Willie Dynamite
Filmed in 1974, it shows the style of everything from cloths to Furniture, man bring it all back. Most label this movie as blaxploitation, myself I don't like the word exploitation, just doesn't stick right. I like Great Black Films or Filmakers, and this is just that, a great Black film. I mean its not roots, but its just good for 1970-1979 Time Frame. This is a cool pimp movie, Thats right Willie is a Pimp, and who Willie is in real life will blow most of you away, (See otheres reviews). Someone is out to destroy Willie, he is getting it from all angles, The Cops, The Black Mob, The Reformed hooker. Will has cool cloths and a Cool Car. All in all its a great movie, not sure these hookers were even hot in 1970 let alone now. But for a 42nd Street Type Movie, have to give it 4 stars. In the end we see Willie Turning over a new leaf and looking for a new life, so its off to find BIG BIRD? Holly Mackeral Who would have ever though.

Eve's Bayou (1996,  R)
Eve's Bayou
One of the Galas from the 1997 Toronto International Film Festival, and a Gala it is. Directed by Kasi Lemmons whose work's need to be explored further, along with this DVD came Dr Hugo, a short excellent film. By Eve's Bayou just short of 5 stars, Eve is a very young girl and we explore her young life and those around her, Samuel Jackson (Her Dad) houses many secrets that are none to none by Eve. Also Eve has an Aunt who is a fortune teller, and Eve seeks the help of a Voodoo Lady. There is many secrets that tear Eve's family apart. All in all a great movie with a great cast. worth seeing and worth adding to any collection. 4 1/2 stars

Anastasia (1956,  Unrated)
Anastasia
How could any movie with Yul Brynner and Ingrid Bergman rate anything less then 4 1/2 stars. I don't know how my mind gets so wrapped up in so many different types of films but it does. When the movie first started I was wondering how long I was going have to watch this thing, then all of a sudden I was taken in. Yul Brynner plays is forceful roll as he always seems to do. and Ingrid Bergman , well I read where this movie was her comeback movie, maybe in America, but I seriously doubt that it was in Europe. I am sure both actors were far bigger stars outside the US, then in. This movie is a part of Russian History, which I promise will not bore you. The Costumes are fantastic. Nothing here that will put you to sleep, Its a shame that I didn't see this sooner, As one of my Dear Flixster friends sent me a recommendation on this one and I never past one down. Yes 4 1/2 stars, if I wait any longer it will be 5 stars. Thanks Raimoyna.

Curse of the Aztec Mummy (1957,  Unrated)
Curse of the Aztec Mummy
I picked this up in the BCI Aztec Mummy Collection, which included 3 films. Out of the 3 films this one is the best. This is a sequel to Attack of the Aztec Mummy. To me this was more of a Comedy the a film that might scare someone, well at least now in the year 2009, but back in 1957 it might have made one spend a sleepless night or two. Early in the film we find that the police have captured the BAT aka Dr Krupp, he is question and then transferred to another prison, when his buddies help him escape. That?s when we see The Angel a masked crime fighter complete with mask and cape. He looks more like an overweight retired wrestler. (After seeing this and laughing hard I will get a few Santo Movies). The first fight scene is something that will put you on the floor laughing, from the machine guns action to the scene where they knock out or cape crusader. There is also a Mexican Kid who reminded me of the Beaver (Leave it to Beaver), Pepe who keeps the Angel advised as to whets going on. When the mummy does appear the scenes are so dark, that it was hard to tell just what was going on. All in all its an enjoyable film. I am sure mystery Science theater would have a ball with this one. 3 1/2 stars, just shy of 4 stars.

Fairy Tale - A True Story (1997,  PG)
Fairy Tale - A True Story
Another film off the list from the 1997 Toronto International Film Festival, from the Galas. Again a Movie that I missed when it came out and the only reason I saw it was because of this list. This movie is not only for children or adults with children, anyone with a open mind should see this, or anyone one who enjoys a movie that is just not another movie. Set right after WWI, 2 young girls find and take a picture of a fairy, And the girls meet Harry Houdini, and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle ( The Lost World) who takes an interest in them. All and all a good clean Family movie, saw nothing that would make me not let children see it. 5 stars alone for that reason. 5 stars for the acting and overall story.

The Big Sleep (1946,  Unrated)
The Big Sleep
Bogart-Bacall-Malone how could any movie with these 3 big names in it be anything less then a 5 Star Movie. Bogart played Philip Marlowe a detective who works for a rich old man trying to get a handle on his daughters, every women in this movie tries and get ole Bogart with the I want to make it with you eyes, they all acted dam sexy, and for 1946, I would have love to be in his shoes during the filming of this one. Picture Quality was at its best, and its my understanding that this movie had parts taken out in 1946 with more clips added, what you got was a 5 Star Movie for sure with those additions. I am glad I follow the advice from friends who said I should see this, Oh its in my collection thank you.

The Living Coffin (Grito de la muerte, El) (1958,  Unrated)
The Living Coffin (Grito de la muerte, El)
This is a real cool movie, somehow it got added to my list of Mexican horror and I purchased it thinking it was part of the K.Gordon Murry Collection, but as far as I can tell Murry had nothing to do with this film. This is a Mexican Horror / Western with a little bit of Comedy. It comes with English Subtitles, or English Language, but as with all movies from other lands I enjoy hearing the native language and reading subtitles after all I might learn something.
Our Hero who I am told is a ex-bullfighter that was pretty good, is trying to track down the crying lady. Nothing really scary but this movie will keep you interested through out the whole film. Its in great color. Has a littlle bit of everything, Pimp dressed cowboys, monsters, secret passages, a trick horse giving Trigger and Roy Rogers compitition. The year 1959 and for that fact and the effort put in by the entire crew, 4 stars.

Misterios de ultratumba (The Black Pit of Dr. M) (1961,  Unrated)
Misterios de ultratumba (The Black Pit of Dr. M)
Ahh more Mexican Horror at its best From Casanegra Films. Once again Gastón Santos plays in this movie as Dr. Eduardo Jimenez , Santos was also in the Living Coffin another excellent movie see my review here on Flixster. I've learned more about Santos, he was a bull fighter in Mexico, but not just any Bull Fighter as per my last review, he was a bull fighter on horseback. And he became a bull fighter after he was in films and acting, somewhat of a reversal to US Washed Up Athletics who become what they think are actors. Anyway two Doctors make an agreement who ever dies first would come back from the dead to show what the life hereafter holds, So that starts a good eerie Creature Feature type film, thought it seems I have seen a US version with different actors of this film, just can't remember its title. This is a Black & White Movie, English Subtitles, So get it if you can find it and wait for a rainy stormy night to sit down and watch this one. While I was watching it a soda bottle across the room on the table just fell over, pretty creepy. 4 1/2 stars for that alone. Add it to the collection

Carandiru (2004,  R)
Carandiru
This is worth all 2 hours and 28 Minutes of your time. The best movie I've seen in a while and one of the top's when it comes to English Subtitles. This movie is in Portuguese Language so you will have to follow along the subtitles if your knowledge of that language is as limited as mind. This is a collection of life?s in a prison in Brazil, thru the life of a doctor from that prison. This movie should be watched by everyone that?s in a jail or prison in the US, just to see how good you have it here. This movie kept me glued to the screen. I have no idea how this movie got on my list, where I read the review or saw the preview, but I am glad I did. Its a must see and outstanding movie, NOT A DOCUMENTRY, a good movie. 5 stars and I haven't given that out in a while.

The Hidden Blade (2006,  R)
The Hidden Blade
This is an absolutely jaw-dropping brilliant film. This was from the 2005 Berlin International Film festival. And I will tell you at the start 5 Stars and its worth no less. A story of a Samurai, that mixes the traditions of a Samurai, along with the sword action, and Romance for you ladies. All throughout the movie the background scenes are phenomenal Don't shy away from this. One can only hope that Munezo the Samurai (Played by Massatoshi Nagase) will do another movie. Maybe in the Zacochi way, a number of movies, but not TV Series type. Takako Matsu played Kie, who was Munezo Family's house maid, she play the part to the T. If I tell you the details of this movie it would only ruin your watching, Trust me when I say ladies its just not Swordplay and Samurai. You will enjoy the addition of the Life Long Romance, Enough Said, 5 stars.

Hak bak sam lam (Black White Forest) (Colour of the Truth) (2003,  Unrated)
Hak bak sam lam (Black White Forest) (Colour of the Truth)
When it comes to Police / Detective Films one couldn't ask for a more exciting film. This one stars Anthony Wong (One of my Favorite Asian Actors) as the Chief Detective whose partner was killed many years before and now Wong is working with his partners son. The son is out for revenge because he thinks Wong killed his father. The pair are after a drug lord who has hired Cyclops to take out the Chief Detective. This movie is 1 hr 44 Min the language is Chinese, but film has English subtitles. Whoever did the English translation in subtitles really screw things up, as film is loaded with mistakes via the subtitles, but not enough to make it hard to understand. American Filmmakers could learn a lot about writing a action crime story by watching this film. There just seems to be more realistic action in a Asian Crime Story Films. I can not give this no less then 5 stars, because of the story line, the action scenes and just the overall filming a job well done. The only loss is to the American Movie Crowd for the fact that this was not promoted at all (That I Know Of) in the American Theater. A American remake would only be a disappointment like most of the Asian Horror Movies that are remade with different actors here in America. My hats off to the entire crew responsible for this film and thank you for 104 minutes of pure entertainment.

Waga jinsei saiaku no toki (The Most Terrible Time in My Life) (2000,  Unrated)
Waga jinsei saiaku no toki (The Most Terrible Time in My Life)
I saw the write up on this in Shock Cinema Magazine (Issue 6) If I remember right. So when it arrived by mail I put it on the shelf saying when I get to it, little did I know that it was a Kino Video Release. And little did I know that it was a 5 star great film, 6 stars if I could. Its a Japanese film shot in Black & White (Shot in 1993) to give it that film noir look. Its suppose to be a spoof n the American Crime films of 1950-19660 time frame, and after all with a detective named Maiku Hama, how could it not be nothing but funny and interesting at the same time. Its not really a comedy and Director Kazio Hayashi has done a excellent job with this one. This is the first of a trilogy the other two being Stairway to a distant past and the Trap, which I will now order and review as soon as possible. This is a good film, not only for the comedy part but also for overall story. One other thing it has English Subtitles. Enjoy, and if you haven't seen a Kino Video yet you need to try them out and get there catalog, use a search engine just type Kino Video for some excellent world films.

The Visitor (2008,  PG-13)
The Visitor
Don't know if its because of the amount of time I have lived outside the United States and I view this differently then most or if its just the fact that this was a enjoyable movie, but either case it deserves 5 stars. Not only are we looking at the life of a immigrant, but also at the life of someone who is searching for that "Got to me more to life then this. Everyone in this movie plays there part to the top of the pin cal. Hiam Abbass plays that person who wanders across ones path just at the right moment and right time, but we don't realize it till they leave. Haaz Sleiman plays the part of a friend, who wants nothing more then to be a friend. And Richard Jenlins is that man searching. Yes a Top of the line film. Under 30 crowd you might not see it this way, But still see and enjoy the movie and the music. Where can I get my Drum. 5 Stars.

Tarantula (1955,  Unrated)
Tarantula
This is the way Sci-Fi / Horror was meant to be. This is what I grew up on, Chiller Theater on WPIX on Saturday Nights, staying up till 1:30 in the morning, then being woke up by Mom and Dragged into church, ahh those were the days. Of course we have our Mad Scientist, Our Pretty Girl, Our Hero, and the Sheriff, and our Giant Spider on some hormones that our Dr has mad up called nutrients back then. How can I give a Black & White Film where when the sheriff sees the Giant Spider he says " Jumping Jupiter" when?s the last time you heard that in a film. What would they say today. I got this for the fact that Ross Elliott was in it, came in the Classic Sci-Fi Ultimate Collection, which I recommend all to try there best to get a copy, has 3 DVD's and 5 Different films all Classics. 4 1/2 stars Jumping Jupiter.

Vamos a matar, compañeros (Companeros) (1970,  R)
Vamos a matar, compañeros (Companeros)
A Very long Spaghetti Western, but very enjoyable. One of those sit down and have to watch movies, cause if you get up for Popcorn your goanna miss something and get lost. Directed by Sergio Corbucci (Django, The Great Silence) with actors Franco Nero (Street Law, Django), Tomas Milian (Django Kill, Traffic), Fernando Rey (The French Connection), Karin Schubert (Emanuelle Around the World), Jack Palance (City Slickers, Batman. I think this is a recent release on DVD, though it was made in 1970. My copy had both English and Italian Language at times (Opening credits said that this was complete version and some of the Italian Language parts have not been translate to English). Franco Nero played an excellent part. Cool Gunman. Plenty of action and enjoyable parts. And Jack Palance added with excellence his bad guy role. Its worth 4 stars and worth finding a copy. I favor the copy for Region 1 on Blue Underground Video. You can check out there selections at http://www.blue-underground.com. Remember 4 Stars

Walled In (2008,  R)
Walled In
This is a Psycho Thriller, and Gilles Paquet Brenner the Director posses the thoughts of a Modern Era Alfred Hitchcock, you see it thought the movie. I enjoyed this Anchor Bay Movie. Cameron Bright plays the part he plays best after all he posses the eye's and the look, any of you who have this know what I am talking about. Misha Barton plays the part of the supervisor who is to demolition of the mysterious Malestrazza Building. The Builder Malestrazza entombed people in this building. The opening scene where a little girl is entombed in cement is enough to keep you glued to your seat. (1 Minutes of Suspense. Enjoy it and add it to your collection, Oh yea 5 Stars for sure.

Chrysalis (2007,  Unrated)
Chrysalis
This is one of those movies that will catch you by surprise, I for one think the best way to watch any movie is in the actors native language, with subtitles on. Such is the case with this movie. French is the language. I started watching the movie in the English Dub's with Subtitles on and the voices were just so stupid, so I started again watching in French with English subtitles and it was just so much better. Those who watched it in the English Version and gave it a low score, might try to rewatch it in the French Version, you might find it more enjoyable. Chrysalis is a sci-fi thriller from debuting director Julien Leclercq. I myself would call it a futuristic Police Action Adventure. The story plot is a French Detective?s partner / lover is killed by a Bulgarian black-marketer. He picks up a new partner and at the same time a top surgeon Professor's daughter is injured bad in a car crash and she is preoccupied with physically and mentally reconstructing her daughter Manon who is played by Mélanie Thierry (Very beautiful). Both these stories tie in with each other. This is a 4 1/2 star movie. And for a director whose first movie was this good, I can only stand in line waiting for the next one.

Laid to Rest (2009,  R)
Laid to Rest
THE VERY BEST SLASHER / HORROR FILM THAT I HAVE SEEN IN A VERY LONG TIME. OH NOT FOR THE WEAK AT HEART OR STOMACH. Great job Anchor Bay. From start to finish this movie will have you on the edge of your seat. Bobbi Sue Luther plays the girl on the run (and I would be running too). She plays her part good, except where one has no doubt (Implants). Must say I enjoyed Lena Headey short appearance especially when she took the huge knife through the skull. And the one guy I wouldn't want after me was Nick Principe who played the Chrome Skull, what an idea, bet Vince McMahoon on WWE wish he came up with it. Anyway the Chrome Skull is a serial killer who films his kills, and he's traveling up the east coast, heck the fool even stopped in Macon Georgia and not for BBQ. This is one very wild film, best seen on a night when the wind is blowing, its raining, thunder and lightning, bet you will jump a time or two. 5 Stars No Less, In my Collection and oh yes I will watch it again and Again And Again.

Agente 077 missione Bloody Mary (1967,  Unrated)
Agente 077 missione Bloody Mary
Ken Clark plays Agent 077, Anyone new to the world of secret agent films must learn there is much more to the secret agent film world then James Bond and 007. This is the first of 3 Agent 077 films, all made via Italy. This one had locations in France, Spain, Italy. Not on some hollywood set but in real locations. There are a number of European Secret Agent films out there, this ranks up there in my book. In this one a Nuclear Bomb has been taken from a USAF Plane crash site, and the Russinas, Germans, and Chinesse are all involved wanting the Bomb, and the USA and UK are trying to keep it in the right hands and recover it. There are all the Secret agent things in this movie, Beautiful naked Women, Neat spy gagets, chase scenes, fights the works. I got my copy of this film in the Grindhouse Experience 2 which has about 20 films in it. The quality of the movie was fair, had a few spots that you could tell it was dubbed from a VHS, even had a 30 sec blank spot, but still its worth the purchase, But can't give it no more then 3 stars.

Vulcano, figlio di Giove (Vulcan Son of Jupiter) (Vulcan, Son of Giove) (1961,  Unrated)
Vulcano, figlio di Giove (Vulcan Son of Jupiter) (Vulcan, Son of Giove)
Vulcan Son of Jupiter, from the Mill Creek Warriors 50 Pack. Anytime I watch a movie from a Mill Creek Collection, I like to mention it, because it is a cheap way to obtain 50 movies for around $19.99. This is not a bad Sword & Sandal movie, after pending the weekend in a marathon of Son of Hercules Movies, I was a little reluctant about watching this movie but I wanted to close out a 4 movie disk. I am glad I did watch this one as it brought me back up to watching more Sword & Sandal movies in the future. Vulcan is sent to earth by the Jupiter, On earth he is joined by Venus, Mars, and Pluto who is Gordon Mitchell who played in a number of Son of Hercules movies. Vulcan is played by Iloosh Khoshabe aka Rod Flash, and my movie cover list him as Richard Lloyd. On earth Vulcan falls in love with Etna who is played by Bella Cortez, and Venus who is running around with anyone in Sandal's is played by Annie Gorassini. Both of these women are beautiful and in 1961 they must have been in high demand in the European Film Industry. One thing about all the Hercules type movies I have seen, they always had beautiful leading ladies, can't say much for some of the faces in the crowd, but the leading ladies were beautiful. We see a lot of different things in this movie not seen in others, Lizard Men, a Midget that is Vulcan's best friend, Underground creatures, this one has it all. Its an enjoyable 76 Minutes, I have to give it 4 stars based on how I rated the others. Its worth seeing, and if I was a sword and sandal collector it would be one of my first to put in collection

Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy (1955,  Unrated)
Abbott and Costello Meet the Mummy
Abbott and Costello have always been my favorite stars when it comes to comedy, I remember watching them on WOR channel 9 out of New York on Sunday mornings after church. That was analog channel 9 not digital, ha. Anyway this is one of the very few and maybe the only movie that I never saw as a kid, But had the pleasure of watching it today. The skits about Doctor Zoomer and with the mummy were about as good as one will see on the screen, They set the bar for comedy which we seldom see today. In this Movie Bud and Lou are over in Egypt when they run into the Mummy, It must have been later when they again ran into the Mummy and Frankenstein. I'd like to give it 5 stars but its not the best Abbott and Costello so 4 1/2 stars.

Jive Turkey (1974,  Unrated)
Jive Turkey
This film should get 6 stars, its that good. First Black Film that I can say I truly enjoyed. Also know by the title Baby Needs A New Pair Of Shoes. This is one movie that is very believable. This is about blacks and Italians fight over the same turf. Scenes were real and actors were great. Even the great Chicago Cub player Ernie Banks was in the movie. Also Frank DeKove who was Chief Wild Eagle in F Troop, And how can a movie be bad with an actor like Onezene 'Ben' Geyen in it, with a name like that???? It was his only movie. Its worth the watch.

King Arthur (2004,  PG-13)
King Arthur
Seldom does a Movie come along that just over powers me to stay glued to the edge of my chair, put that?s what Clive Owen and Keira Knighley did with this movie. I remember seeing it when it first came to the screen, but I didn't enjoy it as much then as I did last night, maybe because I saw the extended Unrated Version. I usually don't enjoy these Dark Ages, Knights, Kingdom, type movies but this one was just short of 5 stars. All the knights of the Round Table were played by Excellent actors. You could feel the tension of that era coming out of the screen. The last battle with the sounds and the special effects were outstanding, though the last battle went on a little long. Its time for another episode of chivalry era, but to be done on this level and not the level that would impress 13-14 year old girls. Well Done, worth buying, should be able to be found on any pawn shop rack for $3.00 or Wally's World for $5.00.

The Wreck of the Mary Deare (1959,  Unrated)
The Wreck of the Mary Deare
This has all the makings of an Alfred Hitchcock Thriller, and I am told that he almost directed it. Charlton Heston and Gary Cooper combine there talents to make a truly unheard of 5 star film. My biggest surprise was that only 42 other people have review / seen this movie on Flixster. No matter what part of this Universe you are from this is a must see movie. Charlton Heston plays the part of a salvage captain. He finds the Mary Deare afloat on the open seas, right from the start when he boards her the action begins. On board he finds Gary Cooper the only man left on board the sinking vessel, which they save by beaching her on the shoals. Onboard is a mystery cargo, as Cooper believes he was left onboard to go down with the ship for insurance purposes. Though when have a somewhat young Heston, in one scene Cooper was a little old to be floundering around in the water. But this is one of the unheard of greats of old school films. Rent, Buy, Beg, But not steal a copy and sit down on a nice night, unhook the phone and enjoy. 5 stars.

OSS 117: Le Caire Nid d'Espions (OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies) (2008,  Unrated)
OSS 117: Le Caire Nid d'Espions (OSS 117: Cairo, Nest of Spies)
One of the best Eurospy Films I have seen. A cross between James Bond and Pink Panther, guess you could say a Spaghetti Spy Film. A 5 star film, this has action, drama, and comedy mixed in it. I look forward to many more OSS 117 Films. Jean Dujardin plays Agent OSS 117 and does an excellent job. Really enjoyed when he was part of the band playing the oud. If you like the Spy Films of the 1960-1980 time frame you will get a kick out of this. On the Funny Scale its a 10 out of 10. Trust me on this one you will not be sorry. 5 Stars

The Great Silence (Il Grande silenzio) (1968,  Unrated)
The Great Silence (Il Grande silenzio)
The Great Silence aka : Il grande silenzio Made in 1968 A Spaghetti Western Directed by Sergio Corbucci . Thus is the second movie I have watch made by Corbucci, first being Companeros. Both are excellent movies for a Saturday Night. In the Great Silence we have Jean-Louis Trintignant who plays Silence a mute gun slinger who is hired by Pauline (Vonetta McGee) a very beautiful lady. At on point Pauline and Silence develops a interracial romance, a relationship seldom seen in Westerns, Italian or Western back in the day, this added to the final scene with Pauline has the making of something well hidden over the years in the US Theater. Klaus Kinski who plays the very bad guy named Loco (its always keen how Italian Directors think up such cool name for Bad Guys). The ending of this film is like no other Spaghetti Western and I will not give it away. This is one that is unique and a must see. 4 1/2 stars the highest I have given to an Italian Western.

Yi ge mo sheng nu ren de lai xin (A Letter from an Unknown Woman) (2005,  Unrated)
Yi ge mo sheng nu ren de lai xin (A Letter from an Unknown Woman)
POWERFUL>>>>> For Some Reason this film captured me from the very opening. To put it plain and simple an amazing story of Love that could only have been written by a women. The true inner feelings pour out thought the screen the entire 86 Minutes. NO MOVIE has ever presented itself to me as this one did. The acting of both Yuan Lin and Wen Jiang were unblemished and nothing short of outstanding. The story itself is in Chinese with English subtitles, worth the effort on your part to capture every word. The story is about a women who is about to die, who writes a letter to her life long passionate lover, all unknown to him. The time frame is 1939 during the invasion of China by Japan. The Music throughout the film is fitting and a pleasure full addition, I can give this one no less then a 5 star rating. This is far from a chick flick so guys loosen up and get something you will enjoy. My only surprise is the few who have watched and review this movie.

The Wings of the Dove (1997,  R)
The Wings of the Dove
This is another outstanding movie based on a novel written by Henry James. It takes place in the early 1900's and you have everything in this that?s found in a modern day soap opera. The main character is Kate (Helena Bonham Carter), a young woman who is dependant on the whims of a rich aunt for her survival. Kate is a person that plays with other peoples life?s and feelings, She makes friends with a American who is dying, and this American is very rich, so she ploys her boyfriend to fall in love with her for her Money. A great twist of story. It will be enjoy by most. 4 Stars.

I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now? (Kill My Wife Please) (1975,  PG)
I Wonder Who's Killing Her Now? (Kill My Wife Please)
This movie is a riot, if you need to laugh this movie will get you there. Its full of the Comedians of 1970-1980 Time Frame. I was very surprised as each on popped up. This movie is full of one liners, Bill Dana is there and if you say who is he, then you missed out on the 70'ties. The 1st barroom scene where the old women was sitting behind the counter with the cob webs in her hair was hilarious. This is one of those unknown movies of today I got my copy in the Mill creek Drive -In Movie Collection 50 Pack, well worth the $19.95 for 50 Movies. Have to give this one 3 1/2 stars

Rabbit-Proof Fence (2002,  PG)
Rabbit-Proof Fence
One of the best films I have seen this month and it ranks up there with some of the best films I have seen lifetime. This is about the 1930 time frame when Aboriginal boys and girls were taken away from there parents if the were have breeds, part white part Aboriginal. This is a true story about a 13 year old girl with her cousin 11 and sister 8, who trek across Australia after being taken from their parents and put in a White Training School, more like a prison camp. They escape and trek 1500 miles back home. The ending is the coolest where the real people make a cameo appearance. This didn't get the play time in America that it should have. 5 Stars nothing less.

The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières pourpres) (2001,  R)
The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières pourpres)
Awesome, awesome, awesome, That?s what I call this film. Its in French with English Subtitles, also has a English dub which if used takes away from the film. The combination of Jean Reno and Vincent Cassel is Explosive on Screen . As far as the other actors, what other actors, these two are the movie. This Movie was part of the 2000 San Sebastián International Film Festival and was nominated won the Golden Seashell award. Don't let the date scare you its an excellent movie 4 1/2 Stars. What keeps it from 5 stars, I don't know I guess my mood at the time of viewing. A Dark and gritty thriller. The Crimson Rivers (Les Rivières Pourpres) is based on the book 'Red Blood Rivers' by Jean-Christophe Grangè. Jean Reno Plays a Commissioner sent from Paris to look into a grizzly murder. A man has been found hanging 180 meters up a cliff face, it is later learned that he was tortured and left hanging for 5 hrs. Another cop Vincent Cassel is investigating a crime of a desecrated tomb about 60 miles away, as the story unfolds these two crimes intertwine and before you know it they are working together. Lots of action and great scenes to keep you on the edge of your seat. 4 1/2 Stars

Sahara (2005,  PG-13)
Sahara
Excellent Movie base on Clive Cussler's book, which I will now read after seeing this movie, though somehow I don't think the book will have the same spin and action packed adventure with a little slapstick comedy added. First time I saw this was in the movie theater when it came out, and at that time it just didn't capture me as it did when I watched it on my TV at home, Maybe it was the $5.50 drink or the $7.00 popcorn that put me in a bad mood. Matthew McConaughey plays Dirk Pitt our star adventure, his partner who gives and adds 100 percent Steve Zahn ( Al Giordino). The Zahn and McConaughey combination is something for the future. Both of these fellows are searching for the lost confederate gold from the civil war, which somehow ended up in a river in Africa, meanwhile Eve Rojas played by beautiful Penelope Cruz is a World Health Organization doctor who is searching for a deadly virus and enters Mali. Here a kingpin tries to eliminate her after she finds that the origin of the virus is coming from his waste disposal company, Dirks job, find the gold and save the doctors, all packed into one exciting movie which rates 4 1/2 stars.

Written on the Wind
Written on the wind
This is one of the true Classic's. It was recommended by my true friend raimoyna, as always she picks the best in Classic Films. This one here stars the True Rock, Rock Hudson that is along with Lauren Bacall, Dorothy Malone, and Robert Stack. Robert Stack plays the part of a Rich Oil Tycoon's son, who runs around doing what ever he wants when he wants, and Rock Hudson his best friend is always cleaning up the mess. Lucy ( Lauren Bacal) appears and Rock falls instantly in love with her, Well Robert Stack see's this and stars stalking Lauren, until he maries her. All along Rock is sill in Love with her. Mean while Dorothy Malone, plays Robert Stacks Nympho Sister and wants the Rock, but Rock will have no part of it. This movie is part of the Criterion Collection. All in All its worth 4 stars.

Les Rivières pourpres II - Les anges de l'apocalypse (Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse) (2004,  R)
Les Rivières pourpres II - Les anges de l'apocalypse (Crimson Rivers 2: Angels of the Apocalypse)
Just as good as Crimson River I, Another full action Drama, Non Stop, Jean Reno is what makes this film so great and can't wait and hope for a Crimson River 3. This one opens with Jean sitting in his living room minding his own business when he gets up to find remote for TV, and a Car drives through his house. Man what a house. Anyway his friend is inside the car along with a beautiful Russian Doll, so starts the action packed Movie. After removing his friend and putting him in an ambulance he finds out from the girl you can't leave the car for once you get 50 meters from car, the bracelet on your arm explodes and makes you into burger meat. Chase scenes alone worth 5 stars So that?s what I have to give this one.

The Apostle (1998,  PG-13)
The Apostle
You can't give this movie any less then 5 Stars, Robert Duvall plays the part of a old time southern preacher and he hits the mark 100 percent. This type of preaching is fading in this world today. This is the True Old South, and nothing wrong with that. After his wife start shacking up with the Youth Minister, he rightfully so kicks the mans ass with a baseball bat. He then gives up all he has and goes on the road, to wind up in a small buyout town and here starts a new church. John Beasley plays an excellent part, as does the sinner getting saved Billy Bob Thornton. If you have been save in a Southern Church then this movie will mean a lot to you. 5 stars for all around acting on everyone part. Get a little enjoyment out of life and see this one NOW.

Blown Away (1994,  R)
Blown Away
Where was I when this movie came out? To me a hidden all star film. This Movie is loaded with Stars, Jeff and Lloyd Bridges a father and son team from Ireland, Jeff is a ex IRA Bomber who is now on Boston's Bomb Squad, Until bad guy Tommy Lee Jones shows up, and he plays the expert bomb maker who is crazy and after Jeff Bridges for past wrongs. Forest Whitaker plays a new member of the bomb squad who sits around and figures just whets up with Jeff and what it is he's hiding from his past. Suzy Amis plays Jeff?s new wife and has come along way from her starting role in Miami Vice. Full of action, chase scenes and thrills, my only question how did they run electricity to a abandon ship ????? Still no less then 5 stars.

They Movie some horse across a few states and in the process rescue 5 Chinese girls from the hands of a whore Trader. Of Course traveling all these miles they come across bad dudes, the madam who paid for the girls and now hires a killer to retrieve the girls. All in all it makes for an excellent film, Factual gun scenes. Yes sir worth every bit of 5 stars

Tsui Hark's Vampire Hunters (The Era of Vampires)
Master Mao Shan and his four best students?Wind, Thunder, Rain, and Lightning, are searching the countryside for Vampires. No one does Vampire films like this. Plenty of sword play. While searching they stumble on the lair of King Vampire and this dude can fight.. The film is full of great stunts and opens a new look at the vampires and zombies. 4 1/2 stars, get this one you will be blown away.

Abraham (1994,  Unrated)
Abraham
Now this is part of a series called the Bible collection. It taught me a few things I didn't know. Its worth the watch, the acting and the costumes are excellent. Story of Abram, his adult life. The part where the 3 angels of the lord appear to him very moving. Also recommend the Story of Joseph, Most excellent. Richard Harris has played so many parts in his life, but he gave 100 percent for this one. If your like this film you will also like many films by Fox Family Video. 4 1/2 stars.

Gone Baby Gone (2007,  R)
Gone Baby Gone
This is the best movie I have seen in 2009. This movie was far from what I thought it was going to be. I put off watching it. I am sorry I did. When movie opened I thought to myself that Casey Affleck wasn't the man for the part, boy was I wrong. When I look at the awards this movie got I see that Michelle Monaghan got most of the awards, Casey deserved more, as he played an excellent part, and it wasn't a movie that featured Morgan Freeman. He was in it but his appearance didn't make the move. This is a 5 star and more movie. Will keep you on the edge of your seat the entire time. Yes sir 5 stars.

The Guardian (2006,  PG-13)
The Guardian
Finally a Movie that shows the life of a Rescue Swimmer in The United States Coast Guard, Many a Watermen?s Un-thanked Hero. Kevin Costner plays an excellent part as a master Chief, and Brain Geraghty plays the new Student / Swimmer coming up with something to prove. Don't enter into this movie thinking its going to be like Top Gun, far From it. If you have a family member in the Coast Guard or One who is a SAR Rescue Swimmer in the Navy, You need to see this. 4 1/2 Stars.

A Little Trip to Heaven (2007,  R)
A Little Trip to Heaven
The crash scene at the end of this movie is in itself worth watching, best stunt I have ever seen. The film is about the best suspense film I have seen in some time. Forest Whitaker keeps popping up in these unheard of films. Julia Stiles plays the abused female and does a excellent job of it. Child Actor Alfred Harnsworth reached the top of the peak in this one. It will keep you on the very edge of your seat, you will not get up or walk away from this one. 4 Stars reaching for 5

The Reader (2008,  R)
The Reader
This Film was shown at the 2009 Sofia International Film Festival, I love most of the film Festivals because they show movies not normally seen on the big screen in most US Theaters?. This one is not exception. Kate Winslet plays an excellent part, as her past is kept hidden and secret during most of the movie. But I had a notion with her accent who she was. The movie stars off and about mid way through takes a unbelievable twist. I am doing my best not to give it away. David Kross does well, is that real or special effects in the bath tub scene, ha ha. You will have to see to know what I am talking about. This is a cloudy day home alone movie with about 2-3 hrs to just sit and take it in. No Children allowed please. 5 Stars
105
Red Dust (2004,  R)
Red Dust
A Great Movie, far more then I expected, about the best HBO Film I have seen. Hilary Swank has come a long way since Harry and the Henderson?s. Non US actors Jamie Bartlett and Ian Roberts added the gusto needed. This movie is about the apathy in South African. Chiwetel Ejiofor who plays Alex Mpondo a member of South Africa's Parliament, who was in prison and beaten and watched the brutal beating and murder of his friend Steve Sizela while being questioned. People who took part in this beating can obtain amnesty for acts of atrocity if they come forward and tell the whole truth. The music all during the movie is unforgetful. This story makes for a tear along the way. I went into this moving knowing nothing about its contents, picked it up in a pawn shop. Its another one of those unheard of greats. 4 1/2 stars.
