| Big Nothing - Unrated |
Well, hmmm. Great soundtrack, and although pretty darn amusing, there were a few too many GAPING plot holes to overlook. Were it not for so many unanswered questions, the movie might have almost been great. Tried so much to resemble movies like Very Bad Things and The Last Supper, with an ending that was almost too close to that of Shallow Grave, which is an amazing movie. Much as i love Simon Pegg (even when he is forced to do an American accent) he was just not quite able to prevent it from falling from the cliff of greatness and plunging into a trite abyss. It needed better writers, people with just a little more attention to those little details that suspend our disbelief enough to keep us from asking too many obvious questions... Definitely iffy, but it's starting to grow on me. |

Brilliantly done, one of my all time favorites.

| The Happening - R |
I don't know why this movie was given only one star by the Overlords of Cable, i thought it was really decent. It had the right amount of creepiness, and i loved Mark Wahlberg and Zooey Deschanel's performances. The plant idea was a little goofy, but not so much so that i could never imagine it happening. Much better than The Village, and a little less far fetched and out there as Lady in the Water (although i must admit, i didn't mind that movie either, though others may have hated it).

| Rave Macbeth - Unrated | Okay, most reviews seem to be of a love/hate nature, but for some odd reason, everything i've seen of this flick appeals to me and i'm dying to see it, i just have no idea how i am supposed to do this, since it seems to not be available anywhere... | July 5, 2009 | N/A | |||

| Halloween - R |
Well, they say you either love this movie, or you hate it. I can't say that i hated it, but i definitely didn't 'love' it. I'm so used to the style of the classic Halloween movie that this gritty, foul mouthed, Rob Zombie-down-your-throat version was a bit of a shock to my system. I felt like i was watching The Devils Rejects all over again. Maybe Rob Zombie is still trying to find his style, or he's already found it, and because i like his music, i'm trying to force myself into believing that i love his style of movie making, but i'm really not sure. I still come away feeling like i need to take a shower after i watch his movies. But i do think that Daeg Faerch is a very promising young actor. Hope to see him in more. The ultimate undoing of this movie for me, was how ridiculously BIG the 'new' Micheal Myers was. He's been committed for 17 years, do most mental institutions have gyms and heavy weight lifting equipment? Perhaps he was supposed to be more frightening, but it had the opposite effect for me. To me, he looked like a wrestler. I kept seeing Kane, circa late 90's. That made him attractive and corny, and therefore, totally NOT scary. He was far creepier in the original story, when he has of normal/medium stature and he's built like any guy you'd never suspect was a killer. I was tempted to check the credits for a 'WWE Films' logo. Maybe it would have been better if it had been a WWE film, it would have been easier to comprehend such a giant and nearly indestructible killer...

| Suspect - R | Very good movie, great plot. Ending wraps up a little fast, but otherwise, no complaints. A-list roster of actors, and they earn their A's. Liam Neeson looks adorable. | June 28, 2009 | N/A | |||
| My Bloody Valentine 3-D - R |
While it seemed to be faster paced than the original, there were far too many goofy parts for me to give the full thumbs up. Some pretty interesting CGI and make-up effects, although some scenes would have looked better had i actually seen this one in 3-D as it was in theaters. Some of these 3-D effects looked a little too computerized and false to be scary. Much of the acting was so-so at best, and there really wasn't much chemistry going on with any of the characters. Though i'm sure the full frontal nude scene was appreciated by most male audiences, i felt that it went on a little too long and just ended up looking dumb. The ending was rather clumsy and and pretty darn corny actually, and unfortunately leaves the plot line open for a My Bloody Valentine 2. The flick gets an extra star for me for the make-up and gory effects. That's about it. Nope, i didn't jump once through the whole thing.

| Captivity - R |
Thought it was pretty decent horror. Sure, at times i was reminded of Saw, but i found this to be much more enjoyable than any of the Saw movies (which i really don't like). Great shocking moments in the first half hour. Thought most of the movie was pretty great and left me feeling rather uncomfortable, coming toward the end though, things begin to get a tad predictable, but not so much so that the movie was ruined for me. |

| How to Lose Friends & Alienate People - R |
Although i always love Simon Pegg, i think this may be my least favorite movie of his so far. Just sort of ho-hum funny, not too much in the way of laughs, and although i found Pegg's character really annoying most of the time, i found myself really hating all the stuffy humorless Americans, and i am an American, so go figure. (The Mother Theresa movie trailer however, is hysterical.) |

| Hellbound: Hellraiser 2 - R |
I think the last time i saw this movie i was about 18, and still thought it was pretty cool at the time. But seeing it now, i realize and notice things that i never did before. The main thing being how the film is actually pretty dumb. Certain things just look to stupid to really take seriously, and while Pinhead is always a delicious bad-guy, i found myself laughing at the new Dr. Cenobite, when i used to find him scary. Along with all that, the editing is really bad, it's very choppy, not smooth at all. Sometimes scenes jumped around too much, and many things didn't make a lot of sense. You'll find yourself asking, "What the hell just happened there?" and "Why did that just happen?" and things of that nature. A few scenes are almost hysterically funny, although i'm not too sure they're supposed to be, i.e. feeling up a skinless Julia. Different strokes for different folks i suppose. On the plus side (if you like your flicks gory) this movie delivers plenty on the slashed flesh, flowing blood and bright red glistening muscle front. The first Hellraiser might be a little more gooey and gross, however, and was much better than this or ANY of the other hundred Hellraiser sequels.

| The Incredible Hulk - PG-13 |
Actually, this wasn't too bad. I was expecting it to be much worse than it was. I'd say for the most part, the CGI wasn't too terribly bad, looked a bit funky in areas here and there, but most of the time, i'd say the Hulk himself was pretty impressive. The only time things might have started to look a little cheesy fakish is when The Abomination comes alive and they engage in their mighty, mutated testosterone-fueled fight. So, The Hulk manages to keep his pants on, but The Abomination's naughty bits manage to disappear into a neat and tidy asexual Ken doll bump. ...I don't know why i always think of things like that. (Loved the little cameo by Lou Ferigno, did anyone else catch that?) I adored Tim Roth as the bad guy, although at first i thought he might have been a bit of a strange choice for such a role, and wondered if there weren't any slightly tougher looking British men that may have been a little more suited to the role. But he worked it. The only other thing that bugged me besides the fight scene was why was The Abomination able to speak so perfectly, when The Hulk could barely speak at all? Is it a comic book thing? I haven't read the comics...

| Taken - PG-13 | A lot of people may have thought this movie was pretty terrible, but i think i'd have to disagree. It really wasn't that bad, and i have to admit, i've seen much worse. The story line, acting, situations, remind me of those glorious action movies of the 80's, or what a 21st century 'Commando' might be like. Really rather unrealistic, but not so much so that it's worth the energy to get up and turn off. | June 9, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain) - R | Absolutely amazing movie. I can't believe it's taken this long for me to see it! Absolutely brilliant and totally charming, a must see for anyone and everyone, i dare you not to like it! | June 9, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Doom Generation - R |
Funny, painfully witty, gruesome, electrifying, charged with white hot bisexuality and a few scenes that literally made my jaw drop to the floor, Doom Generation satisfies the thirst for thrills, great dialogue, hot on screen chemistry, and the ability to make one feel very uncomfortable. Great fun, and my favorite of this trilogy.

| Apartment Zero - R | Very cool movie. A lonely man who keeps to himself (Colin Firth) is so desperate for company that he's willing to over look the increasingly suspicious behavior of his ruggedly good-looking American room mate. Colin Firth is adorable in this movie, a must see for any one who loves suspense, intrigue, and those lovely puppy dog looks that Colin Firth has mastered. | June 9, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Haunting in Connecticut - PG-13 | I want to see this only because i've actually seen the Discovery Channel episode of A Haunting that documented this particular case, and i always thought that it was one of the creepier ones. It's cool that they made it into a movie, but i'm hoping the story isn't messed up with too many 'additions' because really, the true story was scary enough on it's own... | March 3, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Seed - Unrated |
I'd like to thank everyone who reviewed this movie for basically giving me a very loud heads up before i picked this crap up and watched it. There's no way in hell i could ever endure real scenes of animal cruelty, or killing babies, even if it is fake. When did Hollywood decide that making a good horror movie meant it had to cause semi normal human beings to up their dose of anti-depressant/anxiety medication because they've been traumatized by a freaking movie??? |

| The Backwoods - Unrated |
I don't know, i don't really understand what the point of all that was. Two couples from England take a trip to Spain and end up in a slightly scary 'Deliverance' type area. Whilst on a hunting trip, the two men find a little girl with deformed hands chained inside a dirty cabin, and figure that since she's there, she must need to be rescued. It seems as though they'll stop at nothing to 'rescue' her, even when members of what i can only guess were her family, turn up looking for her. They seem to show genuine concern for the girl, although one of the men does try to squeeze a rape into his search mission, and this is where things seem to spiral out of control. In the end it seems like a lot of life (and time) has been wasted trying to save this girl. Why did it become so important to save her? Who exactly were the guys that were looking for her? Who knows. If you're a fan of full frontal nudity, this one might keep your interest for a little while, but that interest will soon bleed dry as the film just sort of drags on and on. Really? It was only 97 minutes? It felt a lot longer than that. |

| 200 Cigarettes - R |
Taking place entirely on New Years Eve night, we take a look at the lives of several different people as they all more or less just don't want to be alone on the big night, and in the end are all on their way to attend the same party, all of whom are positive will be an unforgettable event. All except for the hostess of the party, who fears that no one will show up and "everybody hates her." Set in the early 80's and coupled with a great soundtrack, 200 Cigarettes is an unexpectedly great movie, one that everyone should take a gander at. I never gave it a chance because i thought it might be one of those really annoying late 90's blast from scene to scene trying a little too hard to be cool "Go" type movies, but it wasn't like that at all. The movie was very cute, very cool.
