Oddest film of the year by far. Nice performances and style, but you may walk away scratching your head.

Do yourself a favor. Stay as far away from Alexander as possible. ESPECIALLY a longer cut. I cringe at the thought.

Can't remember if I told you or not - you're top 30 of 06 is great. You're top 5 are spot on. Why Children of Men, Little Children and United 93 aren't nom'd for Oscars is a fuckin scandal!

Also, can't wait to see Snow Cake and Fido.

Yup, party at my friend's parents' place. We go every year with Oscar ballots and the whole nine yards.

I didn't care much for Iwo Jima either, but I gave it a decent review for technical merit and I think I was biassed because I was SUPER hungry and just wanted to get out and eat something....lol.

LOVED Volver though. If you like Almodovar flicks, you'll like it I think.

Little Children

NOW AVAILABLE ON DVD!

I was completely blown away by this film. Within 20 seconds I knew it was for me. Fabulous acting all around with a genuinely original idea for a story.

I am amending my top ten of 2006 to include Little Children. Why this film is not up for an academy award makes me wanna rip my hair out. The academy couldn't find its collective ass with both hands!

Hey! Glad you liked it. They also had a showing down in Hamilton, ON at the Films for Food Fest this weekend. It's supposed to be hitting theaters in Feb here in the States. Can't wait to see it again!

OK, we'll put the Toronto Fest on the back burner for now, hahaha.I agree, its several months away, and who knows, a couple of world wars could erupt in the mean time.
Taking time for ourselves may not be a career, but is it ever essential to our well being. I should think of doing that more often.I know Ive been asking you quite a few questions, but...I still have some more to ask ! What will you be studying in the Fall ?
My ideal career would be work a bit as a doctor, and write a bit ( novels, short stories), and the rest of the time, travel ( ecotourism, volunteer work ). Creativity will run rapidly dry, if I just sit by my window, and stare at my computer screen, lol.

ya you definetly should, totally recomend it, i haven't heard of that one, maybe i'll check it out. i'm in the middle of heat right now, not too impresssed with the story or al pacino but robert deniro is really good in it.

Haha, it may sound cool, but I have been looking for a second career lately. The artist in me is rebelling, I guess. Hm, I did not see A History Of Violence. Should I ? What is your actual career ? The TIFF runs in mid September, correct ? Do I get the added bonus of seeing you, if I go to this year's TIFF ? LOL.
