National Treasure: Book of Secrets
by JeffGreat sequeal to National Treasure..I truly enjoyed this movie and would have given it 5 Stars if they had just a tad more action sequences. But none the less a great Cage pic. The story was good...some parts a little far fetched but in the whole scope of the movie the far fetched parts were needed. Enjoyed the banter between Gates parents in mind added to the whole movie. Ed Harris played the part of Mitchell the villian well, and whats not to like about Harvey Kietel? This movie was great to spend a Saturday afternoon..and all in all a great movie!!! So I wonder what was on page 47? Maybe we'll find in out in the next one? I think this is a great franchise for Cage..and for Cage fans. Two thumbs from me...HIGHLY RECOMMEND for all Cage fans...and fans of treasure hunting, globe trotting type movie!!!!!

Just took an 80s music quiz. I think you'll find that The Cars did it, not Wang Chung!!

I recommend you see...Sci-fi/horror doesn't get any better than this...
Alien
by xGaryThe crew of commercial towing vehicle Nostromo investigate a signal from an unexplored planet and unleash a hostile organism. Once again, Ridley Scott creates a totally believable future environment and another classic of modern cinema. Scott uses suspense and atmosphere to gain the desired effect, and it is an object lesson to gore-obsessed horror directors everywhere; less is definitely more. Considering the "alien" is essentially a stunt man in a rubber suit, Scott's use of lighting and sparse screen time for the creature makes it far more terrifying than a hundred CG monsters. Giger's designs are more akin to sculpted works of art than mere special effects, and the crew feel like real people having real conversations, who just happen to also be on a spaceship; even the obviously now antiquated technology has a functionality about it so it still does not look out of place. Scott also employs an element of sexuality to the attacks on the crew, creating a sense of anxiety on many levels; the victims are not only attacked, but violated in various ways. Sigourney Weaver's Ripley is also one of the first "action heroines", always ready to take charge and deal with the situations she finds herself in rather than running around screaming, and Scott also pioneers the now familiar "first person" viewpoint making the film a real groundbreaker. The DVD also features some interesting deleted scenes, particularly the cocoon scene that is expanded upon so effectively by James Cameron in the sequel Aliens. Yet another reason why Scott is one of the most respected director's working today.

I recommend you see...Sweet without the usual accompanying sickliness, Amelie even managed to melt the heart of this cynical git!
Amelie (Le Fabuleux destin d'Amélie Poulain)
by xGaryAmelie is a young woman who grew up with only her emotionally challenged parents for company, and now lives in a world which is a combination of fantasy and vicarious experience as she touches the lives of those around her. Amelie is also a the kind of film that reminds you why you fell in love with cinema in the first place; and not just because Audrey Tautou is so adorable I could eat her up with a dessert spoon. Well, not entirely anyway. Some may be shocked to hear that I'm not exactly a fan of romances, but this is bittersweet, funny and touching in a way all romance aspires to but very few achieve; it's one of those films that's life affirming in a way that makes you feel like your life is richer for having seen it. Compared to this, the likes of Eternal Sunshine and Lost In Translation (great films both) are like inebriated, club-footed bullocks with poor depth perception crashing around in an existential china shop. Chock full of beautiful images and sounds, thought provoking and utterly enchanting, and an instant favourite. Just see it; your life will be better for it...

P.S. I Love You
by Amandai shoulda waited for dvd! i was gutted! disappointed from almost the first scene!!!!
I've read the book and its amazing. make you cry and lol sort of book so I couldn't wait to see the film. All I can say is if you read the book, don't watch the film and if you have n't read the book, do that instead of watching the film. if you dont wanna read the book, just wait for dvd.
the people that made this sooooo didn't read the same book as me. how the hell they came up with their cast list is beyond me. i hated it for trying to be my book but as a movie in itself it coulda bin worse and it coulda bin so much better. dont go to the cinema! wait for the dvd if you have to see it. this film has the worst irish accant in history. i swear!posted 721 days ago -
