I have never been a great fan of Tom Hanks but he was exceptional in this film. WWII Cpt. Miller and his select team go in search for Pvt. Ryan to bring him home to his mother. The Military felt it was necessary to bring home her last remaining child after three of her four children were Killed in Action. Lives are lost of course not all is a happy ending. However Pvt. Ryan is saved and owes his life to Cpt. Miller etc etc...Excellent film. It deserved its 5 Oscars. Stand outs were: Barry Pepper & Jeremy Davies. Everything was perfect, especially the opening scenes!
