The one that started it all..Although titled "Episode IV", this was the first "Star Wars". This groundbreaking mythic tale follows Luke Skywalker, allied with wise Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi, The two droids, C-3PO and R2-D2, the smuggler Han Solo and Wookiee Chewbacca, on his mission to save the rebel leader, Princess Leia from the clutches of the evil dark lord, Darth Vader, and the dreaded Death Star.
Despite extreme criticism from movie-goers and the general public concerning "The Phantom Meance", I like this movie a lot. Not only are the action scenes such as the podrace and the 3-way lightsaber duel amazing, but i find it comforting that this takes place in a lighter, more innocent galaxy far, far away (As shown through young Anakin and Jar Jar. Yes, i said Jar Jar).
"Attack of the Clones" (which i think i like a little more than Ep I) takes place 10 years after the events of "The Phantom Meance". In this second installment, Anakin Skywalker, under the tutalage of Obi-Wan Kenobi, struggles with his love for former Queen- turned senator Padme Amidala and his duty as a Jedi. The end of this fun entry to the Star Wars saga begins the start of the famous "Clone War".
It is difficult for me to choose a favorite "Star Wars" movie (because i like them so equally). However, if i had to choose, "Revenge of the Sith" would probably be my favorite out of the prequel trilogy. This movie has so many scenes i like: Anakin vs. Dooku, General Grievous scenes, Mace vs. Sidious, Order 66, etc. and of course Obi-Wan vs. Darth Vader and Yoda vs. Darth Sidious. Not to mention the whole movie in between is great too. What's also great about this movie is once it ends, you feel in the mood to see the original "Star Wars".
The trilogy continues with "The Empire Strikes Back", a darker sequel to "Star Wars". In this new adventure, Luke travels to the swampy planet, Dagobah, to seek out jedi master Yoda to continue his quest to become a jedi. Meanwhile, Han Solo, Princess Leia, C-3PO, and Chewbacca evade imperial forces led by Lord Vader, who is obsessed with tracking down Luke in order convert him to the dark side of the force...
The original trilogy (as well as the overall saga) concludes with "Return of the Jedi" After rescuing Han Solo from Jabba the Hutt, the Rebel Alliance prepares itself for the final confrontation with the evil Galactic Empire. But the real battle is against father and son as Luke Skywalker must confront Darth Vader and attempt to bring back the persona of his true father, Anakin Skywalker.
With switching back and forth across time periods and exploring more about time-traveling and paradoxs, this sequel is, in some ways, up to par with the first.
As good as the original. A great way to wrap up the two masterpieces of the series, with the original cast returning and everything, as well as placing the movie in New York.
This is my most anticipated movie for 2007. This one had more of a different feel to it than the others. I thought was also darker. But with all the storylines, drama, special effects and action (not to mention Harry's character) in this movie, I thought it was pretty good.
