Milano Calibro 9 (Caliber 9)
by mikeHardboiled Poliziotteschi film from the early 70's. This is how its done. Its brutal and sadistic. And the characters are great. Gastone Moschine is the lead Ugo Piazza. He plays the character cool and laid back even when under threat. But the standout performance comes from Mario Adorf as the psychotic thug. This character is great and sadistic.
This is the first film ive seen from director Fernando Di Leo and i cant wait to see his other two films in his Millieu crime trilogy. His style is great and he moved the story along fast without any boring down time that alot of Italian crime films suffer from.highly recommended to those who love Italian crime films. This is one of the best!

Jigokumon (Gate of Hell)
by ByronHaven't seen many Asian films that aren't mainly of bunch of men sword or martial arts fighting. This movie had a little sword play, but was primarily a drama. The women were still delicate and submissive in this society, but I was pleasantly surprised that a couple of the actresses had more dialog and screen time. Though the culture is of a different place and time, there is nothing particularly foreign about the themes, relationships, or emotions portrayed here.

Wizard Of Gore
by Quinto"The End... or the beginning?" I love when they do that, and it also kept me laughing how everyone seems to be yelling their lines all the time. As for the film itself, very entertaining and I found the gore satisfying. A nice, bloody time.
So, if gore and, especially, b-movies are your thing, this one is very entertaining. I'm working on making a good drinking game out of it.

Penelope
by QuintoThe fairy-tale angle of the film is pretty cute and entertaining, though the romantic one is certainly uneven. Still, Christina Ricci looks very adorable. I just kept wanting to have eskimo make-out sessions with her. I also really liked the wardrobe and the production.
This isn't an intense, life-changing film - but to everybody who has ever been in love with Christina Ricci, this is the cutest she's ever looked.

by QuintoEverything looks shiny and brand-new; the cast is dynamic and easy to look at, but the fun comes and goes way too fast and the story doesn't really grab you until the last half hour of it's two-hour running time. Also, the two asian supporting characters were more interesting than its leads and they didn't get enough screen time.
The trailers are more fun and have a better story than the final product.
