WALL-E

This was a wonderful film that really touches your heart. Turned me into a blubbering fool more than once it was so sweet. No other film has touched me so much with so little dialog. And, as expected, the animation was amazing.

In Bruges

Finally! The movie I've been waiting to see all year. One that is entirely satisfying. And In Bruges delivers!!!

This movie does not disappoint. There is a perfect amount of humor (and oh yeah it's very dark humor) to undercut the drama and action taking place in this movie. And the story has a good amount of suspense. The music is fantastic, and it gives this movie the feeling and power necessary to completely dazzle! The music makes the movie so much more emotionally resonant. There are great performances from Ralph Fiennes (absolutely perfect antagonist and absolutely hilarious at that), Brendan Gleeson (completely connected with his character), and have to save the best for last...COLIN FARRELL! I am officially a fan now, because up until now I have never been that impressed with any of his work...but...WOW! This guy is actually a damn good actor! He just needs to quit starring in bad movies.

It's just got so much working in its favor. I only wish I could've seen it when it was in theaters. And the ending...oh man...THE ENDING!! Without question my favorite movie of 2008 so far!

Revolver

This film was just weird and nothing like previous Guy Ritchie films I've seen. It was a bit convoluted, but kind of came together near the end. I probably need to watch it again to really "get it". Overall, the performances and cinematography were excellent, but I think the plot could have been a little less Twin Peaks and a bit more Fight Club. At times the soundtrack overpowered the voice-over, but I may have had my surround sound set wrong.

The Incredible Hulk

I'm still not entirely satisfied with the CG Hulk, but damn, Ed Norton is the shit as Bruce Banner and compensates fully for any flaws the film might have. I enjoyed it more than any of the X-men movies and all but the first Spiderman.

Vince Vaughn's Wild West Comedy Show: 30 Days & 30 Nights - Hollywood to the Heartland

When I first saw the trailer for this during the writer's strike I thought that it was just a way for Vince Vaughn to keep busy until people started writing again. I love stand up though, so I wanted to see it and I'm glad I did. Not only was it funny, but you could really tell what a project of love and friendship this was for him and how close everyone in the show was.

If you enjoy stand-up, I think you'll like it.

Kung Fu Panda

I LOVED this movie. One of the best movies of the summer so far. Great animation, great story and great cast. It was heart felt, fun and hilarious. At one point I burst into tears and laughed for a good 2 or 3 minutes.

Zeitgeist: The Movie
