This movie was almost amazing to me. The movie is non stop amusement. I do understand it has a weaker story and can be cheesy at points, but that is not what the film is about. The movie was made to make fun of zombie movies. The movie has comedy and non stop action which is why it will keep the attention of the viewer. The cast is great too. Woody Harrelson really just had fun with his character and that is what made him great. Jess Eisenberg was actually pretty funny with his quirky lines. Emma Stone and Abigail Breslin were a great team up as sisters. You could just tell the cast had fun with their roles, which made it more believable. Then there was a cameo from Bill Murray which will really get you laughing if you are a Murray fan. The movie is not the best, but it is a must see with some of the best zombie bashing scenes I have seen in along time.
I am sorry to say I didn't enjoy this film that much at all. I will start by staying how much it lacked story. They tried to make it a deeper story, but it just didn't work. The cast was getting on my nerves also. Ryan Reynolds was horrible in the film. Jess Eisenberg was getting to the point of annoying. Kristen Stewart was also not to par in the film. The best role was of Matt Bush who was just a side character. They call this movie a comedy, but I could not laugh like I wanted. I really did want this movie to be good, but I think there is many changes that it needed to at least keep the viewers attention.
This is a really deep story that Takashi Miike directed. More deep than usual. The cast was really good in this film. It was cool to see Masanobu Ando in this film who was also in Sukiyaki Western Django. Then you have Sohee Park who was also in The Ramen Girl, which was a pretty different role. The role that was the best in my opinion was of Ryo Ishibashi who was in the american Grudge movies and the movie War. He was so demented in this film, he gave you a chill. The story was interesting but not 100%. They added some interesting animated scenes in the film which I thought was a nice touch. This movie does show a different side of Takashi Miike, but still not his best. If you are a fan of his horror films, you will see a few little added parts to this film that bring that out.
I see people raving about this movie and I don't get it. I mean don't get me wrong, some things in this movie are great. One is the fact that it was directed by Guillermo del Toro who did Pan's Labyrinth. So all the costumes are just great. He even used Doug Jones from the movie too. Ron Perlman is still great as the Hellboy. But the story was so in pieces it was annoying. Things jumped around a lot. They could of easily fixed this and didn't. They were relying too much on the visual part, which did work some. The fight scenes were pretty good, but they did that thing where it cuts from real to CG and it did get annoying. Using wires would of been better in my opinion. So overall it was pretty to look at, but story wise, not that good.
The movie was pretty decent for a comic book movie. I really did find myself liking it better than some. Ron Perlman plays an excellent Hellboy so I will give him props on that. The story was ok. It wasn't that strong, but the action made up for it. The rest of the cast was pretty good, but Selma Blair didn't seem to cut it in this movie. The CG was actually fun to watch and even when they CG'd Hellboy, it looked ok. I am guessing it was because of the way he looked. If it was just a regular human, it probably would of looked bad. So overall, a fun movie to watch.
I admit that some of the acting was pretty bad and the story line was a little off par. But the action in this film was so much fun to watch, you couldn't help but be interested. It was almost like watching a live action video game. Most people will watch car racing movies for the interesting cars they have. This movie had beaten up cars. But all of them had special abilities and there was just so much action, you didn't care what the car looked like. Also when there was a crash, it was very entertaining to watch. Jason Statham was pretty good in the film, yet he is always the same in all of his films. Most of the other cast was just ok. Joan Allen played a great bad to the bone lady. She really showed how in charge she could be. So overall, a very fun movie to watch with non stop action.
The movie had a good cast and was set up very well. But it was just too slow for a suspense thriller. They really needed more build up before they brought Robin Williams, who played the bad guy, into the film. Robin Williams did a great job. He is such a popular actor, I think that is why they brought him in early. Al Pacino was just ok in my book. I have seen him in many other movies acting a lot better then he did in this film. He just didn't seem comfortable in his role. The most confusing cast member had to be Martin Donovan's role. I mean he was there and then he was gone. They really needed to touch base on that part more than getting rid of his character so easily. The female's in the film were played by Hilary Swank and Maura Tierney. Both did a pretty decent job in their roles. So overall the movie was just ok. I just wanted more suspense and I didn't get it.
This movie had a nice little story line. The cast was pretty good even though I am not too keen on Brittany Murphy's acting. The film does have a few glitches that leave you bored and an ending that just could of been better. For the most part it does keep you entertained though. When Murphy's character is trying to learn to cook ramen, that is probably the most exciting it gets. I guess they really needed a pure american looking girl to fit the role in this. So I guess Murphy can fit for that. I will say that hands down my favorite character was the ramen chef played by Toshiyuki Nishida. So it was a pretty nice film.
I will admit that this movie started off really slow. Almost to the point where I didn't want to watch it. But later it really picked it and it made me love the movie. Ken'ichi Matsuyama plays such an excellent L. And you really get to see his acting talents in this film because this film shows more emotion from L. The previous Death Note movies didn't touch base on all of L's background. All the acting was pretty good in this film. An actress who really stuck out was the young girl played by Mayuko Fukuda. There is one scene when she gets really angry and has a knife in her hand. She really makes it intense. So I would say that this film is not as good as the previous Death Notes, but really needed to be made to explain the character L.
It was an ok movie with a nice story line. It is just that the story line didn't really go along smooth. It jumped around way too much. At some parts you couldn't even figure out which story went to which character. Tatsuya Fujiwara, I think, is always a great actor and did a great job in his role. He just seems to be good with emotion. The other actor, Satoshi Tsumabuki was just ok. It might of been the character he played that annoyed me, but I just didn't feel his role like I did with Fujiwara. Takashi Miike is a great director and I can't say he never really made a terrible movie. I would have to say that this is not one of his best though.
This movie was just ok in my eyes. Now the whole concept of the film was pretty cool. Plus it was really cool to watch the characters "jump" in the film. So I will give credit for entertaining me there. But the story was week. It jumped around a lot and no that was not a pun. They really needed more of a solid story and the ending was pretty weak also. The cast was decent. Hayden Christensen was the star and he did have his moments of bad acting in the film, but for the most part came out clean. Samuel L. Jackson was ok, but not the best role by him. Rachel Bilson was also decent. Some of the smaller characters were the best. Annasophia Robb is a great rising star and Jamie Bell was fun to watch. So overall, it was a fun movie to watch. But as for story, not so good.
Sorry but this movie is a piece of garbage. I just don't get it anymore. Back in the day, slapstick comedy was the best. You had movies like Airplane and anything by Mel Brooks. Then later you had Loaded Weapon. Those were good slapstick movies. This one just doesn't make any sense. It is really cheesy. Plus some of the jokes are just not funny at all. I couldn't even laugh at the film. The acting might of been ok from some of the characters, but some were just not that good. The directors really need lessons from the masters. The people who made slapstick famous back in the day. The film didn't even have a good budget so they really had to cut back on graphics. They even made fun of it in the movie.
This was a tough film to rate. It was on the verge of ok to horrible. It had a really stupid story line that lead to an ending that made you want to punch a hole through the TV. The movie was trying to base itself just for action. But the action was just way over the top. Some of the scene were kind of cool to watch, I will admit. But that was not enough to save the film. The casting was so strange. Nicolas Cage plays a man with powers who falls for young and attractive, Jessica Biel. When is Cage going to realize that he cannot fit this role anymore. He is not the hero. Back in the day he had some good films. He was pushing it with Ghost Rider, but it fit him. This film did not. Julianne Moore was suppose to be the strong and mean FBI agent, but she kept coming off as weal. Then Jessica Biel did ok, but there really wasn't much to her part. The movie Next is like all other movies; just tweaked a bit.
I really wanted more out of this film. Within the first hour of the movie, it really does get frightening. But not the jumping out or monster type of frightening. We are talking about the one that hits you deep. You really start to feel uncomfortable because of it. But sadly, they try to keep this going to the two hour mark and it just becomes boring. They even stretch it to a dull ending. But I will say that the overall story is very interesting and really makes you wonder until the very end of the film. The cast is pretty nice in the film and everyone did a great job. Julianne Moore was good. Mark Ruffalo was probably the best. I did enjoy Danny Glover also. They wanted to show how this problem would feel from all ages and races. So a very interesting film, I just wish they put more into explain it.
I will have to say I did enjoy this film more than I thought I would. Besides the lack of a good story, the film does have great characters and some pretty funny scenes. If you watch a comedy and you find yourself laughing alone, then it is a great comedy. Because lets face it, if you are in a group, you can laugh at anything. For the most part, it did have a great cast. Ashton Kutcher was surprisingly funny. Cameron Diaz was decent. Lake bell was just ok in my book. Then you have Rob Corddry who was very funny and had the best name in the film; Hater. There were many side characters played by great names. My top three would have to be Dennis Farina, who also had the great name of Banger, Dennis Miller, who was the judge and then Zach Galifianakis, who didn't have many lines, but when he did, it was great. I will have to give credit to the writers for coming up with some clever character names in this film. So close to being a great comedy. But without a decent story and amazing comedic parts, it just becomes ok.
I did enjoy this movie. It was suppose to have more of a fantasy outlook on life, but I really wish it had more. The movie was suppose to combine fantasy and reality, but more in the future. But parts got confusing when things popped up that you could not explain in your head. The cast was pretty decent for the film. Saoirse Ronan and Harry Treadaway did great as the two heroes or explorers for the film. The side characters where some pretty big names from Hollywood, but sadly did not do a decent acting job. I would be talking about Bill Murray and Tim Robbins. But overall the movie did have a nice little story line, I guess wish there was more to it to help explain the little parts that made you think, "what?". So this is a good film to watch if you just need a small fix of fantasy.
This is one of those movies where they just throw everything together last minute. There is no story or plot to the movie. Just random scenes until it finally ends. That just makes a bad movie all together. The only thing that got a chuckle from the film was the characters. Some were pretty funny to watch. Dennis Quaid was one. Fran Drescher was in the film too, but did not have a good character. Most of the good characters were just one movie wonders. Too bad it had to be this film. So this is not a very entertaining film to watch.
The movie was decent, but not the best on Mel Brooks plate. Mel Brooks himself was pretty good in the film. Some of the other actors and actresses just didn't cut it for the film. Harvey Korman was pretty funny in the film and Madeline Kahn did ok. The movie was basically making fun of many Alfred Hitchcock films. Some like Psycho, The Birds and Vertigo. My favorite scene was making fun of The Birds. Instead of being attacked by birds, Mel Brooks was being pooped on by pigeons. That was a great scene. So overall it was an ok film. It just need a lot more humor. At least it did have a few memorial scenes.
A very dramatic movie and full of emotion. Throwing aside some boring scenes, this movie was really good. The small boy in the film was played by Asa Butterfield, who did a great job. He moves into a new house and thinks that there is a farm nearby, but finds out later it is a concentration camp. The movie takes place during the holocaust. Butterfield's dad is a Nazi general and that is why. He makes friends with another small Jewish boy at the camp played by Jack Scanlon, who also did a great job. This movie shows how bad parts of the Holocaust were. It also has a dramatic and non happy ending. A great and touching story to the film with only a few parts of error. This was a deep and great film.
This comedy did get some laughs out of me, but not enough for me to say it was an excellent film. The story was kind of weak. so you really need to rely on the humor to keep you going. But like I said, it was a little funny, but not funny enough. John Candy did a pretty good job. There is one scene where he is handcuffed to Ernie Hudson. Hudson was inside a room and made Candy stand outside the door. That was a really funny scene. You need to watch it to see what I am saying. There is actually a few really good scenes thanks to John Candy. Eugene Levy was decent, but not that funny. Joe Flaherty was Candy's partner in crime in the film. He did a decent job. So overall it was just an ok movie.
This was a pretty decent film and I would say that John Goodman did an excellent job playing Babe Ruth. The one thing that bugged me was the fact that they tried to fit all of Babe Ruth's life within 115 minutes. So you could say that the film jumped around a lot and it did test my nerves a little. The rest of the cast was ok. I actually liked Kelly McGillis's performance more than Trini Alvarado. The movie was just a nice little film that was fun to watch. You find yourself enjoying how they bring up all the other baseballs players from the past.
This movie was actually pretty bad. I mean the story was not that good and overall, it just didn't seem good. But I have to say I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed it enough to not give it a bad rating. The cast was really good too. There were so many people. Rainn Wilson did a decent job. A great cameo was Demetri Martin and he was pretty funny. My favorite character would have to be Jason Sudeikis though. He really had some great lines in the film. Two people I didn't like were Jeff Garlin and Josh Gad. Garlin was ok, but didn't fit in the movie. Now Gad just needed his own personality. He acted why too much like actor, Jonah Hill and that really bugged me. They even look a little alike. This is movie it was not good. But if Hill and Gad were in a movie together as brothers, it could work. Emma Stone did a pretty good job as the lead female. Teddy Geiger had a great voice for the lead vocal in the movie, but not that good in the acting department. I think the millions of cameos and cast members saved this movie for me and some of the funny lines. Without that, the movie would of busted.
The beginning of the movie was a nice touch with the animation. I liked that part, but when it got to the real world, things got a little weird. I know it is suppose to be like that, but there were various errors. The story was really confusing and jumped around. I know it is easy to figure out though since they were making fun of Disney movies. The acting was both good and bad. I think Amy Adams did an excellent job along with Patrick Dempsey and the little girl, Rachel Covey. A great side character was played by Timothy Spall. I even thought having Julie Andrews as the narrator was a great touch. But James Marsden was horrible. I can also say that Susan Sarandon did a mediocre job. But even with all the little errors and some bad acting, I did find myself enjoying the movie some. So I guess you could say it was decent and it really does show how fairytales and the real world do not mix.
This is a nice little film. Not the typical gore fest you are use to seeing with Takashi Miike. The camera angles and shots in the film were excellent and the scenery was overall just beautiful. The story was nice and solid, but not filmed so. The movie is VERY low key and at many times boring. It was missing some excellent. There were a few scenes that kept you interested to wait till the end, but overall, the film was just too easy going. Renji Ishibashi played a Yakuza member was good, but annoying at parts. Masahiro Motoki was also pretty good playing his part as the business man trapped in this strange village. Some side characters were played by Mako, who added a little comic relief and Li Li Wang who plays a young girl with a haunting voice that sings a strange song that Masahiro Motoki needs to translate. So It is a decent Miike film, but not one of his best.
I will say off the bat I hated the ended. It was like they ran out of time and the director said, "just stop the film here". The rest of the story was pretty good. I enjoyed the film, but I can see people hating it. All the characters have the personalities of the cast. So if you do not like any of these people as an actor or actress, you will hate the film. Paul Rudd was great in this film. His dialog was really funny. Jason Segel was a good double, but not his best movie. The movie had an excellent cast and I can say I enjoyed them all. Lou Ferrigno was a funny touch. I really think my favorite duo from the movie were Jon Favreau and Jaime Pressly. Some of the dialog was just great. So overall, a pretty good movie aside from some of the story flaws.
