Shutter (They Are Around Us) - R This movie was decent, bu not as scary as I wanted. The story is very confusing. The film was meant to be a suspenseful one. Starting off small and building up into a great ending. The ending was pretty good, but the build up was not there. That is why you get so confused. There should of been scenes that kept you guessing on what happened. But they just did not seem to fit together. I see they made an American version of this, I will have to check that out. At least the cast in the film knew what they were going. So overall it was an ok film. May 28, 2009

It's a Boy Girl Thing - PG-13 I see reviews on this and people seem to like it so much. But I am not sure why. The acting was just horrible in it. I have seen make for TV movies that had better music and acting in it. The story has been done so many times. Some weird relic makes two people switch places. I am not sure if they did a boy and girl switch yet, but it is not that original. The plot and story were really just low key too. You knew what was going to happen throughout the whole film. Besides a few scenes that made me chuckle a little. This film was not that good. May 28, 2009

Ben X - Unrated In my eyes this is a great movie. I am not sure if it was because it was done right or the fact that I am a nerd and it had gaming references. But the movie was pieced together well. Ben's (played by Greg Timmermans) mild form of autism almost seemed to make him delusional and schizophrenic at times. Some parts were so random, it make you the watcher feel uncomfortable and even schizophrenic. But the cast was really good and the movie almost had a poetry to it. The intensity of the electronic music at parts when Ben was freaking out also seemed to work really well. Great movie. May 28, 2009

Hamlet 2 - R I really wanted to see this film and when I was done, it was just ok. I really wanted more out of it though. I think that Steve Coogan did a great job, but his character was not mixing well with the movie. The story line was kind of off and just a bit boring at parts. This type of movie you would expect more really funny parts, but there were only a few giggles. Don't get me wrong, I still enjoy some of the film. Just not to the full extent that I wish I could of. So it was an ok film overall. May 27, 2009

Bolt - PG There were things I liked and things I didn't. The voice cast was a bit weird and it bothered me. Like John Travolta as the lead character who is A LOT younger than he is. I mean I guess he did ok, but I could think of other people who will fit. Same goes for Miley Cryrus. She pushes her voice too much. But the remaining of the cast does work pretty well. The animation was a bit off. It was Disney Animation Studios that put this together. They are pretty good, but not top of the line in animation. The story was pretty good and fun and the personality of the character were very entertaining. So overall, a pretty decent film. May 27, 2009

Bob the Butler - PG This movie was not that good. It was like they told Tom Green to be in a movie and not act like himself. Green has a personality that makes him a crazy type of comedy to see. But in this film he tones it down and it is something you just don't want to see. The story was rushed and the comedy was just not appealing. I am sorry, but this movie was just another Tom Green bomb and I am sorry that some other people had to be a part of it. May 27, 2009

Janghwa, Hongryeon (A Tale of Two Sisters) - R I admit that this movie did start out slow. And in the beginning got really really confusing to the point where I didn't really want to watch it. But then the film picked up and threw in some points that made you think until it got to a strange yet really good ending. So you can say it did redeem itself. So don't worry about the beginning, just give it a chance. The cast was really good also. Well maybe not Yeom Jeonh-ah. I dunno if it was her or her character that bothered me. May 27, 2009

Desu nôto 2 (Death Note: The Last Name) - Unrated Ah the sequel to the first. I will have to say that I enjoyed this one more than the first. It stayed on one thing and was easier and more enjoyable to watch. But not that much of a difference to get anymore of a rating. Again, I loved Ken'ichi Matsuyama's acting skills. I just loved watching how his character L acted throughout the movie. Tatsuya Fujiwara was also pretty good. They added a couple more characters. One played by Erika Toda who was enjoyable to watch how immature she was. Then they added another CG version of a Death God with another Death Note. Again, I really hated the CG. But good thing the movie was enjoyable enough to get over it. No movies are ever as good as the book or animated series. But the live action Death Notes are not that bad and have a great cast to keep you interested in the whole film. May 14, 2009

Death Note (Desu nôto) (TV SHOW) - Unrated This movie did start off a little slow. But it did pick up fast. I also do admit that it felt a little rushed, but I could not help enjoying it a lot. Tatsuya Fujiwara plays the character Light and does a pretty good job. Even when he starts over using the Death Note and gets creepy, it really shows. But my favorite actor in this film was Ken'ichi Matsuyama. He plays the character L. Now L in the animated series is very animated and just overall weird. Matsuyama does a great job of portraying this character to the point where I couldn't wait to see the next scene with hm. The only bad thing is that he doesn't show up till half way through the movie. One thing I really didn't like was the use of CG on Shinigami the Death God. It gave the movie a fake feel that almost turned me off of it at first. Well the movie does set itself up for a sequel, so that is cool. May 14, 2009

Guarding Tess - PG-13 This is one of those enjoyable little movies. Lets say you are sitting down on a chilled Sunday afternoon and want to watch a calm movie with a little humor. This would be a good. But it really has no re-watch value. Nicolas Cage did a pretty good job and had a stronger character than Shirley MacLaine's. The story was ok, but did seem a little boring at points. May 14, 2009

Zack and Miri Make a Porno - R I knew then I saw this film that the whole thing was just going to be stupid. Well I was right. The whole plot was just strange. The cast was pretty funny though. I did find myself laughing really hard at parts. Some of the cast were from the Jay and Silent Bob movies and that was a surprising touch. Seth Rogen was funny, but I think he could of done better. I was getting really enjoyed by Elizabeth Banks though. Just in my eyes she is not funny. My favorite character would have to be Draig Robinson. He had me laughing every time. So if you want some laughs, then you can watch this film. If you are looking for a good story, it just doesn't have it. May 14, 2009

Young People Fucking (Y.P.F.) - Unrated Ok I understand the whole concept of this film. They just pick out a few situations and show you how each one differs in the sex field. But the thing that was strange was what some of the people did. Some scenes made you think, "Um, I would not be caught dead doing that in that situation". But I do have to admit that the film and the cast were enjoyable. The movie did seem a little rushed and you wanted to see more. It only seemed rushed though because they had many situations to deal with. May 14, 2009

Lust, Caution (Se jie) - R I will say at first that half way through the movie the story gets deep in sexual situations. It is very graphic to the point of almost seeming like soft core porn. But the movie looks at it a different way. It is how the characters feel before and after the situation that shows why they went into so much detail. The film is set around WWII and a mix between the Americans, Chinese and Japanese. The movie is mostly focused around Wei Tang. Her character is a young girl at first trying to fit in and gets mixed together with a political group because of a friend and a boy. This group later in the movie goes as far as trying to kill to change their world to what they want. What really ends up happening though is that Tang's character becomes a toy to this political group and almost just a sexual object to get this one guy. She has to seduce him. She even gives up her virginity to train to become a great sexual object. She ends up getting so use to it, that she starts almost losing her own mind and just has to finish the mission. It has a bit of a twist ending. I know the movie is almost 3 hours long, but it is worth it. The whole film was done really well. May 6, 2009

The Last Boy Scout - R I did enjoy this film a lot. I think it was mostly because of Bruce Willis. This was classic Bruce Willis with tons of action and catchy funny lines. He was teamed up with Damon Wayans who at first seemed like he should not be in the movie, but you get use to him. Wayans is just an added comic relief. If it wasn't for that, then he would not make sense to put in the film. So overall, pretty enjoyable and a classic action Willis film. May 6, 2009

Noise - Unrated I really had to wait till the end of this movie to see if I enjoyed it or not. At first when it started off, it was kind of interesting. Seeing Tim Robbins character going insane from all the noise he hears. But you come to find out that is just what the whole story is about. Which really lets the film drag on at times. But the way it was shot and directed makes it a bit more interesting. I guess I could say overall the movie was ok and somewhat interesting to watch at least once. But you probably wouldn't care to see it again after that. May 6, 2009

Rory O'Shea Was Here (Inside I'm Dancing) - R A movie about two people who become friends who has disables. An amazing performance by James McAvoy. His character is paralyzed from the neck down, but can use a couple fingers. Then Steven Robertson probably had the best performance. He played a man with cerecbral palsy. Now Robertson must of studied his part hard for you thought he was really like that. The film has a great and touching story coming from two people of a different nature. The film is full of many emotions and you will love every minute of it. You even feel uncomfortable at parts, but you come to get use to what you see. The movie tells you that you just need to enjoy life and be free no matter who you are. May 6, 2009

Ratatouille - G Wasn't sure at first if I was going to enjoy this film. I thought Disney and Pixar might of made a mistake. In fact, I at first, didn't want to watch it. But I thought I would give it a chance. I found myself at the end really enjoying the film. Not 100%, but still liking it. One thing I could not believe was that the girl was played by Janeane Garofalo. She had changed her voice and it sounded nothing like her. The film has a nice story and is very enjoyable for all ages. Some parts a little boring, but it does pick right back up. The animation stayed at a more cartoon style that real CG. Overall, pretty nice. May 6, 2009

Låt den Rätte Komma In (Let the Right One in) - R I loved this film. You see a lot of vampire movies just going overboard with all the wire work and tons of blood. Then all the warped faces. This is more on the down low. This little girl played by Lina Leandersson is a vampire in hiding who just wishes she had a friend. She finds a young boy played by Kare Hedebrant. The boy does find out later what she is, but he doesn't care because she treats him better than the kids at school. This movie has a great story and a great meaning, but with a bit of darkness thrown in the mix. Very great film. April 30, 2009

Jack Brooks: Monster Slayer - R When I heard about this movie, I really wanted to see it. But when the movie ended, I was upset for it was not the amazing film I hoped it would be. For the most part the movie had some boring parts. The one thing they needed to do more was show more monsters, but they didn't. The ones they did show had really good make up work. Robert Englund's character turns into a giant monster and it was all done with animatronics; no CG. That really gave the movie bonus points in my eyes. I bet if they made a sequel to this movie, they could fix some of the mistakes from the first one. This is an ok B horror film. April 30, 2009

The Gamers: Dorkness Rising - Unrated I will have to say at first I didn't like how the movie was starting out. I actually found it pretty boring. But then when the cast finally gets into the game, the movie gets very humorous. I found myself laughing a lot, but it might be just because I knew what they were talking about. I have a feeling that if someone watched this and didn't play any role playing games, they would really hate this film. April 30, 2009

Batoru rowaiaru II: Chinkonka (Battle Royale II) - Unrated Ok the first Battle Royle was really fun to watch. It had an ok story and just everything else was random and fun. This movie took out the fun and focused on the story more. That kind of ruined it. The fun part is what would hold this movie together. They took out the whole random weapon part and concept of Battle Royale and that is where this movie went wrong. The cast was still very interesting and as a whole the movie was ok. But if they kept the Battle Royale game the same from the first one, I think this movie could of been either the same or better than the first. April 30, 2009

Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru) - Unrated This movie had a lot of hype going into it. It made me think that I was about to watch the most amazing movie ever. But when it was over, I was a little disappointed. But I still enjoy the film a lot. The concept was really strange and messed up, but I liked that. The cast all had their own personalities which was pretty cool to watch. The fact that each person had a random weapon was really fun too. You never know what could happen. The movie, story wise, I would say is just ok though. But it was so fun to watch, that is why you can give it a higher rating. April 30, 2009

You Don't Mess with the Zohan - PG-13 What has happened to Adam Sandler. This movie was a joke compared to what he usually does. The cast was mostly the same people you usually see in his films. But the story was just really really stupid. So you would hope to laugh a lot to get you through it, but you don't. Sandler's character is just not funny nor is Schneider's. This was a bad movie to put on John Turturro's list since he is a great actor. The only real person I found funny was Nick Swardson. I just really wanted more out of this film and it didn't seem to give it at all. April 27, 2009

Yes Man - PG-13 This movie overall was pretty good I guess. The story is just funny and stupid which is perfect for Jim Carrey. But I actually had a small problem with Jim Carrey in this one. He seems to be getting too old to do his usual comedy. To me it seems like he needs to find something new to work on instead of trying to be himself. The movie let him be himself a little, but not to the full. Maybe that is why I felt weird watching him. The rest of the cast was pretty good also. Zooey Deschanel was a good counterpart to Carrey's character. So overall, it was a nice film, but not the best of Jim Carrey. April 27, 2009

Vodka Lemon - Unrated This is a very slow movie. It is really hard to get into it. You either can or can't. If you can't you will probably hate the film. I actually enjoyed the story and the dialog used. The cast was fun and entertaining. But like I said, the movie is slow. I believe that is why it was hard for me to give it a great rating. But the whole concept of how these people live in this little town seemed to amaze me. April 27, 2009
