Batoru rowaiaru II: Chinkonka (Battle Royale II) - Unrated Ok the first Battle Royle was really fun to watch. It had an ok story and just everything else was random and fun. This movie took out the fun and focused on the story more. That kind of ruined it. The fun part is what would hold this movie together. They took out the whole random weapon part and concept of Battle Royale and that is where this movie went wrong. The cast was still very interesting and as a whole the movie was ok. But if they kept the Battle Royale game the same from the first one, I think this movie could of been either the same or better than the first. April 30, 2009

Battle Royale (Batoru Rowaiaru) - Unrated This movie had a lot of hype going into it. It made me think that I was about to watch the most amazing movie ever. But when it was over, I was a little disappointed. But I still enjoy the film a lot. The concept was really strange and messed up, but I liked that. The cast all had their own personalities which was pretty cool to watch. The fact that each person had a random weapon was really fun too. You never know what could happen. The movie, story wise, I would say is just ok though. But it was so fun to watch, that is why you can give it a higher rating. April 30, 2009

You Don't Mess with the Zohan - PG-13 What has happened to Adam Sandler. This movie was a joke compared to what he usually does. The cast was mostly the same people you usually see in his films. But the story was just really really stupid. So you would hope to laugh a lot to get you through it, but you don't. Sandler's character is just not funny nor is Schneider's. This was a bad movie to put on John Turturro's list since he is a great actor. The only real person I found funny was Nick Swardson. I just really wanted more out of this film and it didn't seem to give it at all. April 27, 2009

Yes Man - PG-13 This movie overall was pretty good I guess. The story is just funny and stupid which is perfect for Jim Carrey. But I actually had a small problem with Jim Carrey in this one. He seems to be getting too old to do his usual comedy. To me it seems like he needs to find something new to work on instead of trying to be himself. The movie let him be himself a little, but not to the full. Maybe that is why I felt weird watching him. The rest of the cast was pretty good also. Zooey Deschanel was a good counterpart to Carrey's character. So overall, it was a nice film, but not the best of Jim Carrey. April 27, 2009

Vodka Lemon - Unrated This is a very slow movie. It is really hard to get into it. You either can or can't. If you can't you will probably hate the film. I actually enjoyed the story and the dialog used. The cast was fun and entertaining. But like I said, the movie is slow. I believe that is why it was hard for me to give it a great rating. But the whole concept of how these people live in this little town seemed to amaze me. April 27, 2009

Cattle Call (National Lampoon's Cattle Call) - R Not much to say here. All around pretty bad film. The acting seemed to be ok, but the movie itself was not. When the movie started, I felt like I missed another movie telling me what it was about. The whole concept of the film just was pretty bad. I miss it was National Lampoon use to make good movies. Appurushîdo (Appleseed) - Unrated The movie was not bad. I had seen the two 3D Appleseeds first. This one actually takes place between them. It does fill in a bit of back story which is nice. I know it was the 80s, but I was not that impressed with the animation. I have seen other 80s animation that is much better. The music and look was pretty good. The story was missing a lot and seemed to jump around. I just didn't really enjoy this as much as the others. April 27, 2009

Barton Fink - R This was a very interesting movie in my mind. The cast was really good. John Goodman did a pretty good job in his role, but the star was John Turturro. His paranoid yet day dreaming character was just excellent. The story was off strange in so many ways. By the end you do not know wither the whole ring was real or all in the mind. The rest of the cast was also good and overall, I really loved this film. April 15, 2009

The Dukes of Hazzard: The Beginning - R This is the same example of what they did to the movie, "Dumb And Dumber". They decided to make a movie about how it all started, put a stupid story to it and hire a bunch of young actors who cannot act. This movie wasn't even that funny. I found myself getting more bored that amused. A couple parts did make me chuckle and I did manage to wait till the end of the movie also, so I will give it credit for that. April 15, 2009

Appleseed Saga: Ex Machina - Unrated A sequel but a new story. First off I love the animation of this. The other had the 3D look and cell shaded which limited the animation a little. This was full CG and everything was beautiful. Again, it has a nice sci fi action feel. Nice choice of music, although the first one had a couple better songs. Intense action and great fight scenes. The story in this was a lot better because it was less confusing. Everything made a little more sense. Great animated film. April 13, 2009

Appurushîdo (Appleseed) - R This was a fun movie to watch. It has the sci fi feel and the action is pretty good. It has a great choice of music. The story is a little confusing because it seems like they are trying to fit as much as they can into one little time slot. The animation is good. But there is a problem with this type of CG. It is 3D cell shaded. So the mouth movement was limited and the expression of the faces. But the body movement was pretty night and like I said it set it up for some great fights and action. The beginning of the movie alone makes you enjoy this film. April 13, 2009

Unforgiven - R A lot of Clint Eastwood fans might not like this movie. If you are use to seeing the strong western type Eastwood, this is not it. He is mostly trying to get back into his groove through the film. But I will say he does and he becomes classic Eastwood again. Gene Hackman did a great job also as a mean sheriff type with problems. But Morgan Freeman seemed a little off to me. The movie has a great western feel and a pretty good story line. So you will stay interested through this film. Not bad. April 8, 2009

Silver Streak - PG Gene Wilder and Richard Pryor team up for another movie. But it is not their typical movie. Richard Pryor doesn't show up till later in the film. Wilder if mostly the star. Most of the acting was ok. Jill Clayburgh seemed a little off. The story was interesting, but seemed to have a hard time keeping your attention. It would get exciting and them seem to go into more of a boring state. It had little humor, but not enough for a true comedy. April 8, 2009

The Hospital - PG-13 This wasn't a flat out crazy suspenseful mystery. It was more low key. But it was also really enjoyable. Besides a couple boring parts, the movie does seem to keep you interested. I guess it is because it takes place all in this one hospital. George C. Scott is great in this film. He even has one of his classic shouting scenes which really adds to it. Even though this is more low key, it still has a great ending. Good film. April 8, 2009

Porco Rosso (Kurenai no buta) - PG Another nice film in the Miyazaki collection. But I would say it was not one of his best. Like most others it has great animation and excellent music. The story was pretty good but had a typical Miyazaki ending where suddenly it just stops. But it was ok. The first half of the movie was a little boring, but the second half was great and exciting. So I would say it is not one of the best, but still pretty good. April 3, 2009

High Plains Drifter - R Now usually Clint Eastwood movies are pretty good. But I would put this at the bottom of his list. The whole time you are wondering what the story is about and they finally show you at the end. But there was really no excitement leading up to it. The best part would probably have to be the last 10 minutes of the film and that does not make for the rest of the film. Clint Eastwood is still pretty good in the movie, but his personality really didn't fit I thought. April 3, 2009

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly (Il Buono, il Brutto, il Cattivo.) - R I cannot tell you how much I love this film. Everything about it is great. The way they announced the three main characters by using, the good, the bad and the ugly was just great. The camera work was fantastic and when combined with the music, it was flawless. Clint Eastwood plays the good named Blondie. His character is funny and just clever all at once. Eli Wallach plays the ugly named Tuco. He is just down right crazy sometimes and very funny. Lee Van Cleef plays the bad named Angel Eyes. He is very clever for the bad and is a great rival for Eastwood. The story was really good and just entertaining to watch from start to finish. And what a great finish. This film has five stars all over it. April 3, 2009

Fiend without a Face - Unrated This movie was mostly just suspenseful. You find out that many deathes are happening, but you do not know by what. An old man creates these so called "Mind Vampires". The whole movie you do not get to see what these creatures look like. It comes to a point where you are going to go nuts unless you see them. Finally you do. They are brains, with spinal cords for tails. They are almost sickly cute and seems to squirt black jelly when you kill them. Overall, a great classic horror movie to watch. April 3, 2009

Interstella 5555: The 5tory of the 5ecret 5tar 5ystem - Unrated Kazuhisa Takenochi had a visit to make an animated film done completely to music. He wanted you to be able to feel the film and not have to listen to words. It worked. The movie was done completely to the music of Daft Punk. Each song fit with each scene and you could easily figure out what each character was thinking. I do admit it was a strange sci fi type story, but it really does work to the music of Daft Punk. The animation was also pretty good and back when hand drawn was taking over the world. Nice film. April 3, 2009

Three O'Clock High - PG-13 Casey Siemaszko is a student who runs into the school bully played by Richard Tyson. Let me add that Tyson played his part horribly. The bully wants to beat up Casey. That is the whole movie. Siemaszko tries to get out of the beating and they end up fighting. Not much to do to lead up to this non suspenseful ending. I really wish it had more, but it didn't. Sex and Death 101 - R This movie had a pretty interesting story line. But it was not played out well. A man played by Simon Baker, finds out he is going to have sex with 101 women and he knows all the names. But it stops at 101. Why? You will have to watch to find out. It really was boring at some parts, but other parts made up for it a bit. Baker was a pretty good actor. Winona Ryder on the other hand was not. She seemed like she was running on no sleep and her voice was annoying. So it was an ok movie and did have its good moments. April 3, 2009

Role Models - R This movie had some funny scenes, but I couldn't find myself laughing like crazy much. The story was just stupid and that really made the movie lose points. Seann William Scott was not really funny at all like he use to be in American Pie. Paul Rudd was ok. But together they seemed to clash. It was two different comedy styles going at it. The funniest person was probably Bobb'e Thompson. Christopher Mintz-Plasse was not that good at all. Super Bad seems to be his only good movie. I really wanted more from this film and it really didn't have it. I think overall it is ok because some scenes are funny. But as a comedy, it isn't the best. April 3, 2009

Reality Bites - PG-13 This was a really low key comedy. You team up Winona Ryder, Ethan Hawke, Janeane Garofalo and Steve Zahn. Friends from school trying to live their life. The story is about hard times and love. Ben Stiller is in it, but his character really isn't that good. I couldn't tell if the movie was trying to be a drama or comedy. At some parts it was just boring. But it is the type of movie you can kind of relax too and watch once. So it was ok. April 3, 2009

The Game Plan - PG When I first heard about this film, I did not want to see it. But I decided, hey it can't hurt. I am glad I watched it for it is a pretty good movie. Dwayne Johnson got to be his normal strong self, but also got to show a softer side which he pulled off really well. His daughter is played by Madison Pettis who is just a great little actress. She really can keep your attention. Most of the other cast was either good or just ok. The story had a great meaning and was really strong. So overall, it is a great film and yes it is worth seeing. Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd - PG-13 This movie was more depressing than anything. Taking a great movie like Dumb And Dumber and completely ripping it apart. Derek Richardson and Eric Christian Olsen played the duo. They could not even compete with Jim Carrey and Jeff Daniels. This movie takes place when they are younger. But the comedy isn't even the same. The story was just ridiculous. Let hope they never make this mistake again. I did give the film two stars though because a couple scenes did make me chuckle.
