Revolutionary Road Revolutionary Road R
Based on the classic novel which takes a dark, heavy look on 50's American culture. The illusion of happiness 50's style, the phoniness put alongside pent up emotions and broken dreams. Leads to a Sam Mendes depressing conclusion. Not one to watch again but great performances.
Sherlock Holmes Sherlock Holmes PG-13
Good script and acting, but I'm not into the macabre. The film is set in England mid-19th century, during the Industrial Revolution where London is clouded in a dark haze of smoke. The dark case which Sherlock gets involved with fits the dark context of the setting. The case revolves around the occult and the darkness, black magic, and the darkness brothaz, Rick James style. It's not for me. If you are expecting this to be like other Guy Richie films, it won't really meet your expectations except for a few crazy tidbits here and there. Downey and Hey Jude are great. I never read any of the Sherlock stories so I can't really compare the film to them, all I can say is the film was not that spectacular in my opinion but not bad enough to drop a deuce on.
