i think the most amazing thing about this movie is not so much the power of dancing (one reason this movie got my attention) but rather what it takes to really stand for what inspires you. there are some really wonderful vulnerable moments of dialogue in the movie and it just goes to show that when it comes to community - you can't go about it alone - it has to be a group effort. the raw energy of tahitian dancing just rocks - i'm sold! :)
this was a random find and thought the movie was cute - think it just goes to show that love is not felt until u confront it head on and how important it is to have others around you that just believe!
nice change of pace to see julia roberts & tom hanks play political roles - found all the interactions between characters in the movie fascinating - def successful challenging my views on world affairs!
i'm glad i watched this classic again - i have better appreciation for it this time even though i have to agree with another reviewer here that the dialogue does require multiple viewings! i think it's amazing this vision for the future was painted (so beautifully too!) just when the internet was just starting to boom back in 1995!
being asian-american, i was quite humored by this movie and found the power plays quite amusing :D while a good movie overall - i feel the acting & storyline still could be taken up a notch!
i thought this was a really fun movie with a lot of potential - i think it's one of those movies you just can't wait to get into a book - i think more character development would have been wonderful!
being a big new order fan, i had to watch this movie - it's interesting to see how it all ended - that at the end of the day - it was all for the music!
had no expectations of this movie and thought it was a nice account of an incredibly open woman & her experience in a lesbian romance. it was particularly interesting to see the story unfold from the standpoint of Japanese culture and was glad it was light on drama and very easy to watch!
it's been awhile since i've seen a movie with so many impactful msgs woven together so beautifully. it definitely gives new meaning to what it is to stand for yr partner and just believe in the humanity of others.
found it to either a a wee bit overdramatized or glad my breakups have never ended this badly! the flick does save itself towards the end when he comes clean & apologizes. have mixed feelings bout the ending though.
