Great film, almost more of a Crime-Drama/Psychological Thriller than a Comic Book hero movie. Great writing. Performances: Heath Ledger was a far better Joker than Jack Nicholson, I'm so serious. Ledger's Joker was haunting, twisted, psychotic, highly intelligent, witty as well as comedic, deadly...There are no words to adequately express how deep Ledger dived into this character. Morgan Freeman and Michael Caine were outstanding as usual. Aaron Eckhart's portrayal of Gotham's tragic public hero Harvey Dent was amazing. Gary Oldman was great as well, we got to see more sides of Gordon as he got even deeper into character this time around. Christian Bale's performance was intelligent, thoughtful, and precise as usual. Maggie Gyllenhaal and Eric Roberts were good as well in their respective roles. This is the best film I've gone to see in 2008 thus far. I left the theater astonished, wanting more yet still content. This film took me to places I didn't expect. I'll definitely see it a few more times, and I'm getting the dvd when it comes out. This film is Christopher Nolan's masterpiece.
