About Me
Graduated from Film School, attracted mainly to Directing and Writing. Write mostly on realist topics, issues that are important, things we can relate to. Admire surrealist & non-fiction. Directing is the best, the composition, the relationship between actor & director, nothing compares. Can't stand 70% of the crap that's out there, we need to see more films that influence us, not close our eyes. Film is my escape, my carreer, my life. I believe the camera is a tool used to communicate and express one's emotion. Not to thrilled about the idea that it's mainly to entertain. I love all genres, Frech cinema is my favorite though. The camera runs at 24 F.P.S (frames per second) I think at 12fps but speak at 64fps. When I'm not shooting a film, writing a script, or thinking of one, I'm here talking about them. 'NUFF SAID

Festen (The Celebration) Festen (The Celebration) R 4.0 Stars
An incredible Dogma Film! This is real Cinema at it's most honest and cruelest. It's categorized as part of the Dogma movement that was started in 1995 by Danish directors Lars von Trier and Thomas Vinterberg with the signing of the Dogme 95 Manifesto and the VOW OF CHASTITY (Recommend to look into for true cinema lovers) which state rules like, only hand held, no bringing props onto the set, no use of special lighting, no sounds added and no post-production. The emphasis on purity forces the filmmakers to focus on the actual story and on the actors' performances. Amaizing enough, in some scenes the actors held the camera for their own shots. "Celebration"(Festen) throws us into the world of the Klingenfeldt family as they celebrate their fathers 60th birthday party, when some unpleasant family truths are revealed the family is split and all hell breaks loose . Done so well by diretor and writer Thomas Vinterberg. This is a must see for admirers of ALL- Film era's and how a movie doesn't need eye candy and special effects, just a great story.
Coffee and Cigarettes Coffee and Cigarettes R 3.5 Stars
On my on going quest to watch Jim Jarmusch's films, last night I saw "Coffee and Cigarettes". Let me first say it's a film that purely supports the title. The entire film is based on people sitting at a cafe, usually two enjoying or at least trying to enjoy a cup of coffe and obviously, cigarettes. Jarmusch managed to capture the simplicity of everyday conversation and revolve it around coffee and cigarettes. The cast includes a mix of talents like Bill Murray, Roberto Benigni, Jack White, Cate Blanchett just to name a few. I love how the film is in black and white, besides the contrast, it symbolizes and enhances the ying and yang, right and wrong in the conversations that take place. This is quite different from his past films I've seen like "Dead Man" or "Down by Law" which are films that take us to different places. In "Coffee and Cigarettes" the actors take us to different places and sometimes share their with us their awkward moments. Aesthetically this film reminds me of his other film "Stranger than Paradise" where all the scenes in the film where done in one shot. "Coffee and Cigarettes" is brilliant, a very cool film and very funny if you listen carefully. Jarmusch is underated and should be more recognized for his cinematic brilliance.
FAVORITE LINE: "Your a MANIAC, A CAFFEINE MANIAC ! "
Hellboy Hellboy PG-13 3.5 Stars
Ron Pearlman gives a great peformance in Guillermo Del Toro's "HELLBOY" a great dark novel adaptaion. I saw this movie and realized now with the sequel coming out that I haven't rated it. I enjoyed Pearlman's character, somewhat rough and vicious but also shows a soft side for cats and Liz, his love interest. The film shows and talks about the backstory without getting too involved in it but it also helps push the movie ahead with certain unanswered questions you can live with. Above all, it's a great sci-fi ride with great one liners by Hellboy, vicious fight scenes and a good solid story. This one definetly leaves you wanting more and I think some questions will be answered in the the second one along with new ones rising. HELLBOY is definetly for the fans of Guillermo del Toro's films and goes to show how talented and untouchable he is in this genre as he breaks away from many directors and becomes one of the elite directors, especially in the sci-fi deparment. FAVORITE SCENE: Hellboy spying on Liz and Myers from a rooftop as he eats some cookies with a curious boy.
Children of Men Children of Men R 4.0 Stars
This movie has escaped me for too long. I finally watched the film last night and it was what I expected. "Children of Men" is a dismal look into the future that doesn't explain how we are not able to reproduce. No child has been born in 18 years! The world is in chaos and everyone from religious groups to political activists are all stating their convictions for the present, the future of the world and the human race. Clive Owen, Julianne Moore and Michael Caine star in this sci-fi drama flick which to me were a perfect fit. Clive Owen's character was a good example of the anti-hero, a man content with the end of the human race, dealing with the death of his son is suddenly put in a position with one final shot to save the human race. The movie has beautiful scenes full of drama, suspense and great cinematic tension. Alfonso Cuaron's hand held shots and long takes work magnificently in this futuristic and bleak world. I haven't meet anyone who dislikes this movie and for good reason, the film pulls you in and leaves you thinking long after it's gone. FAVORITE SCENE: That final shot (that lasts an eternity)towards the end where Theo is looking for Kee in the ravaged building during a battle. AMAZING !
The Island The Island PG-13 2.0 Stars
The Island offers a lot of eye candy from the typical in your face explosions, insane car chases and Mtv style editing, Michael Bay's Sci-Fi action flick"The Island' does entertain you but it was just too much with a story that has been done over and over. Don't get me wrong the film will keep you going but not guessing, much of the film is predictable and after a while the only reason you watch it is for Scarlett Johansson and or Ewan McGregor. If you've seen one Michael Bay film you've seen them all (Pearl Harbor, Bad Boys, Armageddon) As for the positives the film has a great cast. Starting with McGregor and Johansson. Steve Buscemi, Sean Bean, Djimon Hounsou too name a few. I think even Hounsou's character was more interesting than any other and he was only in the movie for about 45 min. To summarize it all,..Micheal Bay should stick to these type of movies, action action and yes more action with quick edits and the eventual slo-mo shot. Johansson is beautiful and can do no wrong. Don't buy the film, renting it would be a waste. It's one of those movies that you should only watch when you can't fall asleep at 2:00 AM, yeah, That type of film. If you don't see it, who cares your not missing anything!
FAVORITE SCENE: Any of Buscemi's lines!
No Country for Old Men No Country for Old Men R 4.0 Stars
A return to the glory days for Ethan and Joel Cohen. With some of their last films like, "Lady Killers" & "Intolerable Cruelty" I thought they were headed in a different direction. 'No Country for Old Men" proves that is not the case. It's a return to the days of "Blood Simple" & "Miller's Crossing". The film has such a grip on you with a great and simple but effective story that most people can relate to. Who wouldn't want to find millions of dollars all for themselves? But as the movie tag line states "There are no clean getaways". John Brolin has come along way since "Goonies", in No Country for Old Men, Brolin's performance is so honest and very human. Javier Bardem's character is so intimidating that I would rank him up there with in the top 10 of all time classic Antagonists in film history. His character is disturbing and is feared, even when he is not in the room. I loved how the Coen Bros decided not to add a score, just letting the natural sounds add to the tense and dramatic plot. The violence is disturbing and effective. This film is a must see, especially for the fans of the Coen Brothers. It is reminiscent of their first film, "Blood Simple". I have always enjoyed the camera work in their films and in this film it goes hand in hand with the story. It evokes a sense of helplessness in a town full of humble people. The theme to the film is one of life lessons and the desicions we make at the most crucial moments. The ending resembles that choice. FAVORITE SCENE: Bardem's character explains to a lonely store worker how his coin took 22 years to get him."CALL IT, FRIENDO".

First film that influenced me. The connection between a 12yr. old girl and a veteran hitman make for an film full of drama, action and above all a story of love between both of them. With beautiful cinematography and a raw dialouge, Leon the Professional is my all time favorite film!

Can there be anything more incredible than this. Godard's 4th film is ground breaking with the typical style that characterized the French New Wave, it's a film with passion. Above all, it's how films should be done!

This is what started it all. The French New wave was born. Godard's classy cool cinematic style flows out of the screen with this 1959 flick. The movement gave birth to jump cuts, direct sound recording, improvised dialouge and long takes. Breathless is a cool flick.
Irreversible 4. Irreversible Unrated 5.0 Stars
No other movie evokes such a irie, uncomfortable feeling. The film stands alone with it's unorthodox camera work and gripping life like scenes, Irreversible will stir something inside of you.
True Romance 5. True Romance R 4.5 Stars
This film is definitely the reason why I went to film school. It's dialouge is catchy and cool. The cast is memorable. The love story's characters are unforgetable. With it's memoralbe violent gun scences and explosive ending, True Romance is just the perfect name for it. A must have for your DVD collection!
Amelie (Amelie from Montmartre) 6. Amelie (Amelie from Montmartre) R 4.0 Stars
A Masterpiece! The French do it better, Jean-Pierre Jeunet's film makes you feel a sense of warmness and makes you fall for Audrey Tautou's quirky character. A unique and simple film. I can watch this film on any Friday night.

This film doesn't fit right as part of a line-up for a horror-fest.It took me awhile to try to figure out what the hell was going on but kept my interest. It was something like from The Outer Limits or some Sci-Fi series. Some decent effects, interesting creatures & villains. The story wasn't making to much sense but it was entertaining & surreal.

Not sure how this one got to be in the After Dark horror-fest since is more like a Sci-Fi film but better than some of the low budget horror films from the horror-fest line-up.

I wanted to see this documentary because its subject are so different from. Ten campers trying to reconcile their Christian faith and their homosexuality.

I never had that problem because religion isn't a big part of my life at all, but it was interesting to see, and would be good viewing for gay teens dealing with the same issues.
Maybe for you, maybe not for you but a fairly well done documentary. You may know people that you could tell them about this.

"PRIEST: May the Lord have mercy on your soul.
HENRI VERDOUX: Why not? After all, it belongs to Him."

A great Chaplin's black comedy or as the "movie" says "A comedy of murders".
This is one of Chaplin´s best sound films.

It´s the story of a fired bank clerk who goes into business for himself, marrying and murdering rich women for their money that then he uses for his family, the "real" wife and the son.

His directing is superb, the script is wonderful (born from the mind of Orson Welles) and the acting is superb, one of his best performance.

This is not like others chaplin's movies so don't watch it you don't like black comedies.

This movie has remembered me the movie "keeping mum" directed by Niall Johnson with Rowan Atkinson,so if you liked "monsieur verdoux" give a look also at "keeping mum"

This movie will show you a slice of life in Saudi Arabia. The characters are real and the struggle to get to the truth is real. The interplay between the Americans and the Saudi troops really shows the differences in our cultures while also showing how police are police and just want the truth no matter where they come from.

I can say that the movie is separated in two parts.
First part is the the part of the investigations.
The second is the action moment, and what an action!!
the two parts are connected perfectly.

Guy Montag: "Look at that fellow over there."
    Clarisse: "What's he doing?"
Guy Montag: "That's the information box, he can't make up his mind. "
Clarisse: "What does he want to find out? "
Guy Montag: "He doesn't want to find out anything, he knows someone who has books. So he got hold of the person's picture and number and is going to drop it into that box."
Clarisse: "But he's an informer! "
Guy Montag: "No, he's an informant."

Based on the 1951 Ray Bradbury novel of the same name. Guy Montag is a firefighter who lives in a lonely, isolated society where books have been outlawed by a government fearing an independent-thinking public. It is the duty of firefighters to burn any books on sight or said collections that have been reported by informants. People in this society including Montag's wife are drugged into compliancy and get their information from wall-length television screens. After Montag falls in love with book-hoarding Clarisse, he begins to read confiscated books. It is through this relationship that he begins to question the government's motives behind book-burning. Montag is soon found out, and he must decide whether to return to his job or run away knowing full well the consequences that he could face if captured. The plot is the strong point of the film. It carries a powerful message and leaves a strong emotional impact. Julie Christie's blandness and sporadic awkward enthusiasm work well enough in this environment for her almost to seem to give a good performance.
Hey, you should really see this! And if you haven't read the book should also do that to, it's worth the time.

Anjelica Huston is the director and this is her first attempt at directing a feature length movie. The results are stunning. It is altogether a flawless movie, with an excellent script based on the Dorothy Allison novel. Ron Eldard is excellent in his depiction Glen, expertly capturing the character's pathetic childishness behind those icy blue eyes. Eldard often seems to play characters with a dark side and this role plays to his strengths, even if his southern accent slips from time to time. His scenes of violence with Bone are harrowing to watch and you can't help but feel uncomfortable, given the age of Jena Malone at the time. Special mention must go to Jena Malone for her sophisticated, passionate portrayal of Anney's young daughter, 'Bone'. Bone carries the weight of her mother's world on her shoulders. This is her first major role to speak of and she carries the movie effortlessly.

I guess I have to watcha gay movie every once in a while or the gay mafia will revoke my membership. Trust me, it's in the bylaws.

Well, in any case, too bad I chose Prom Queen...

It's comically stereotypical, cheesy and very Disney Channelesque, and not in a cute way. And what's worse, for a movie that's only four years old, it's woefully dated, even the stereotypes.

Ya, I guess it has somewhat of a good message -- but that's about its only redeeming quality.

Good thing I didn;t pay anything to see this.

This has to be one of the best movies by Luchino Visconti. I instantly fell head over heels for Marcello Mastroianni after seeing him in this movie. It's just an advice: if you like philosophy you have to see it!
It's a very deeply movie, about philosophy, religion and love. The actors are very good and the camera is another carachter. Yes, because the camera walks, dance, and follows each movement of the personages, theirs eyes, hands. It shows a Paris that we don?t know and showed to me a little about a religion that I also don?t know so good. I liked it a lot!
