Into the Wild 5.0 Stars
This movie was just about perfect. My new favorite! To quote Brian W, "The acting is good... The cinematogaphy is brilliant. The casting is inspired.... Emile Hirsch should get some sort of recognition for this role. And perhaps Sean Penn as director."

Gene Hackman at his funniest! The soundtrack, the set design, the script, the oddball humor, I was laughing out loud when I first saw this movie. This is one that I could watch over & over. Most people I talk to either completely love it or completely hate it. I love it!!!

Before Sunrise 5.0 Stars
Instantly fell in love with these two! The movie is almost all dialogue and I can't say that I had experienced watching a movie like that before I watched this one so it took a little getting used to but it was great! It made the impossible (meeting and falling in love with someone in one night) seem possible... Call me a hopeless romantic. ;)

So I Married an Axe Murderer (1993,  PG-13)
So I Married an Axe Murderer 4.0 Stars
Woman, woman, woman - that poem/song never got old. Oh, and every scene where Mike plays a Scottish dad, "Look at the size of his head, it's like an orange on a toothpick." Good times. This movie was so underated! It is full of funny, quotable lines and I love the scene with the prison guard. I almost peed my pants! The end is kinda dumb but that aside, this is one of Mike's best movies (according to me).

Days of Glory (Indigenes) (2007,  R)
Days of Glory (Indigenes) 4.5 Stars
I cringed today when someone asked me if I'd seen the movie The Lakehouse and if I liked it... Please say that is not the kind of movie that ranks higher ratings from my peers than the movie Indigenes. Movies like Indigenes have such an important story to tell, the filmaking and acting so good that I can't believe that everyone isn't creating buzz about this film. See it and you will learn a very important lesson about the strength of the human spiriit, equality (or the lack of), and racial discrimination. Loved this!

This was a wonderful story! Sister Helen had such a giving spirit to what an average person would consider the "outcasts" of society. Truly a beautiful soul, funny, real, and she put her faith into action. Totally worth watching, a life changing experience!!!

Das Leben der Anderen (The Lives of Others) 4.5 Stars
This movie was very well made, sexy, smart, and heartwarming/ hearwrenching. So good! I'm still thinking about how crazy/creepy the Stasi were and how much like the Nazi's... Ulrich Muhe did an amazing in his character and to find out in special features on the DVD that he actually grew up in East Germany and was surveiled by the Stasi himself adds another dimension to his acting. Wow!

Serpico (1973,  R)
Serpico 4.5 Stars
This movie was truly about the story and refreshingly there was no hype (as this was only Pacino's second film). I loved that the actors were virtually unkown and that it was filmed on location, a lot of times in one take. This movie is so quality, it has quickly become one of my favorites! I want to watch it again to see young Al... ;)

Run Lola Run (Lola rennt) 5.0 Stars
If you haven't seen this one, you haven't lived! I love it, period. To quote the flixster review, "Dangling three "what if" variations on Lola's mission to save her mate, Run Lola Run propels us toward each outcome with a delicious peppering of surprises, quirks, and twists... Scoring his delirious staccato mix of animation, still photographs, and live action to a pounding techno beat, Tykwer reveals himself a virtuoso of the medium and, at the same time, a passionate believer in destiny and the transcendent power of love." Franka rules! :)

I really enjoyed drinking in the scenery and watching the relationship between Ralph and Rachel take odd little turns but ultimately turn into this pure solid thing. A great adventure, tragic, but the message was important as well. Rachel deserved the Oscar that she won for this role. :)

This was a total blast to watch! Quirky, fun, sexy, gorey, and hilarious. They even managed to throw a love story into the mix. Oh, and Naveen was in it so that was a bonus. He needs to be in more films. Rose & Marley are so hot! Watching this movie is going to be my new halloween tradition.

Again, I love Viggo. I love how he plays such complex characters and make us want to hang on his every word. Armin is creepy as the head of a Russian crime faimly & equally creepy was Vincent Cassel who plays his son. Gripping tale, heartbreaking, violent... sad that there are still sections of the world where there is modern-day slavery... such an important thing to expose. The best/saddest part was the mother's tale... one I won't soon forget.

Ah, Paul Newman - the ultimate eye candy in his younger days. Stellar performance from Newman and there are some great quotable lines. This movie isn't considered a classic for no reason! To quote Scott B., "Paul Newman creates one of the most charismactic of all movie characters. The movie deals with the theme of conformity and how one man tries to fight the prison system. Inspiring and tragic."

This movie was crazy but I loved the concept. Frickin Winona, Ethan, and Janeane made this movie memorable. I loved the placement of that Violent Femmes song. Ethan is so bad ass!! Ben Stiller was a no name at this point, I actually forgot that he was in this one. Great movie, fun soundtrack (Lisa Loeb anyone?). Intro to reality TV at that point in history. I remember when it all began... I'm getting old!

Pacino's performance blew me away. The tango scene and the way he interacts with women are very entertaining. It was funny to see Philip Seymour Hoffman in such a dinky role but he had to start somewhere. I didn't think it had been THAT long since this movie came out but 1992... yeah. Doesn't matter though, the message of redemption/forgiveness/making a fresh start despite of your past is timeless. So glad I watched this again! Truly a gem.

After recently watching Betty Blue I see some similarities between these two movies but Don't Move has a much better story line. Penelope Cruz is OUTSTANDING in this movie! I loved her performance and also Sergio's. Their relationship is downright insane and unfortunately I can relate to some of what they go through. Very interesting storyline keeps your attention until the very end. This movie made me cry for Penelope's character. Very moving, worth watching!!!
