What to do if you find yourself stuck with no hope of rescue: Consider yourself lucky that life has been good to you so far. Alternatively, if life hasn't been good to you so far, which given your present circumstances seems more likely, consider yourself lucky that it won't be troubling you much longer.

Pay It Forward
PG-13
This is how much the ending of a movie can ruin it for me.
While I was watching the film I was thinking "good! this is a total surprise. This is a 4-star movie when I thought it would be a 3-star one. Great!!!". Everything was going well. It was sweet but not too much. The story was nice and the performances were very good.
But... then, as usual, the ending came. And a totally unnecessary turn was given to this story.
They totally blew it. It could have been a simple, nice, sweet and inspiring film if it wasn't for that stupid ending.
Was it necessary???
Breakfast at Tiffany's
Unrated
Well, you have to understand me. This is my first Audrey Hepburn film. I had seen pictures of her before but I had never seen her in action, showing all her strange beauty, her elegance and her unique grace.
Apart from that I think that the film is great. It's simple but smart at the same time. Some lines are very interesting. And it achieves the perfect level of romance for a romantic film. I don't believe that any nowadays romantic film can make the audience feel what this movie can. But maybe that is just personal.
It's hard for me to say why I'm giving it 5 stars but I just loved it.
Plus, another big reason for loving it as I did is the absolutely perfectly excellent Henry Mancini's "Moon River". One of my all time favourite songs for sure.
A Beautiful Mind
PG-13
A wonderful film made up of an incredible story, a very good job by the director, two great actors like Ed Harris and Jennifer Connelly and, most of all, the excellent performance of Russell Crowe. Probably his best.
The Dark Knight
PG-13
Now this film is just perfect.
The first thing to mention is Heath Ledger performance. Lots of my friends had mentioned this before, saying how great he was and so on an so forth. But I guess that no description can really explain the brilliance of his acting. He's by far, the best joker ever. Just marvellous.
Another one, is.... thanks God!!! Thanks Nolan, or whoever is responsible for that!!! thanks for getting Katie Holmes out!!! Thank you so so much.
And finally.. what can I say? I love Christian Bale as Batman (the best-looking Bruce Wayne in the history). The effects, the action scenes, the funny parts, the script, the visuals in general... everything is nothing but great. Flawless.
The Prestige
PG-13
OK, it's a good movie. I kind of liked it. Way better than "The Illusionist" and It's always pleasant to see Christian Bale.
So, having said that I feel free to criticize it:
Why?????????? Why so many explanations??? Do they think we are stupid??? Everything was pretty obvious. Non of that final scenes were really necessary. Specially the very very last one. I don't understand what kind of concept do these people have about their audience. It would have been so much better if it had ended at least 15 minutes earlier.
The Illusionist
PG-13
It's good. A bit slow and silent but not boring. Some parts of the movie are predictable. Anyway I liked the final twist and all the magical atmosphere of the film.

2.
Kill Bill: Volume 1
R
The first of two excellent movies. The one thing that this one has, that the 2nd part doesn't have, is the element of surprise. The way in which Volume 1 impacts you because of being such a different movie. It compares with nothing seen before.
3.
The Big Lebowski
R
What can I say about this genius movie? It's fantastic. I don't even know how to describe it. You just have to see it. No reviews will describe it well. Just watch it Dude!
4.
Pan's Labyrinth (El Laberinto del Fauno)
R
I'm still in shock, so if you find my review a bit exagerated, accpet my apologies. This is, for me, one of the most espectacular films I've seen in the last years. This movie has everything. It has some sort of scary scenes; it is also sad and sometimes happy, and it has lots of fantasy but probably not for kids. Guillermo del Toro has made an excellent job. Visually, I found it fascinating. The creatures are great. And the way in which two different worlds co-exist at the same time in a little girl's mind is just perfetc.
5.
Eternal Sunshine Of The Spotless Mind
R
Wonderful movie. Jim Carrey is excellent playing drama and Kate Winslet is particularly good in this film.
6.
Pulp Fiction
R
It's just great. Each actor is particularly good in this movie. The music is, of course, fantastic. And it has many memorable scenes.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
by CraigDirected by: Nicholas Stoller.
Starring: Jason Segel, Kristen Bell, Mila Kunis, Russell Brand, Bill Hader, Paul Rudd.
<< "He turned down a blow job from his ex-girlfriend...mid-blow job. You know how hard that is for a man? It's called blue balls. He's like Gandhi! But better...he likes puppets!" >>
The story follows a relatively lazy, unfocused man who scores for a hit TV show he hates but is dating the hottest girl in Hollywood...the star of the show. After she dumps him after a 5 year relationship, he finds it extremely hard to take and decides to go to a spot in Hawaii she told him about to get away from it all. But before long he meets her there with her new eccentric boyfriend and he starts to fall for the hotels receptionist.
I remember reading about this film briefly before The Heartbreak Kid came out, not knowing who was behind the film at the time I thought it was Hollywood ripping off a film that was to be released before it...but then I saw the horrendous Heartbreak Kid and can easily say this film has no comparisons and is leaps and bounds above that shit pile.
As with recent Apatow productions, the film carries the similar formula mixed together...sweet romance and raunchy comedy. In any other case this formula would no doubt get old and stale, but the Apatow team continue to prove they are the head of the game and Jason Segel proves to be a strong writer for that team.
Simply directed and assured, the film does start a little weak, I'll admit that, but before long Jason Segel's brand of humor starts to kick it up a notch and right into full gear, it is extremely witty, slightly vulgar but always laugh out loud and the strongest thing Jason kept in mind was to balance and the film nicely steps back into its character that slowly, but surely develop and the character moments are actually quite sweet and believable and never stale or 'in your face' cliched.
The performance are a strong point of the film as everyone involved, lead or not delivers something brilliant. Jason Segel proves to have the right charisma and raunchy tone to stand strong as an Apatow type character and Kristen Bell even has a few believable moments (I usually can't stand her). This is the first role I have seen Mila Kunis in outside of Family Guy and not only is she so damn beautiful, but she really delivers quite a sweet, charismatic and assured performance, it will be interesting to see what she can do in the future...and alongside the great sub roles played by Bill Hader and Paul Rudd, Jack McBrayer had me in complete tears throughout, he really needs to be a strong comedic force in more films.
Forgetting Sarah Marshall is a sweet surprise, yet not so surprising coming from the Apatow team. May not be as strong or sophisticated as Knocked Up, but it easily stands amongst the Apatow greats thanks to strong wit, great characters and very strong performances.Took long enough to finally be released here.

Alice, Sweet Alice (Communion)
by BrianThis was actually pretty creepy and well thought out, with a twist that I didn't see coming.
It's definitely something that could be remade today if the story was tweaked a little to be updated for today.
Paula Sheppard (Alice) gives a great performance.
Not nearly as over the top and campy and most other horror from this time period.Hey, you should really see this!

Take Care of My Cat (Goyangileul butaghae)
by El HombreMultidimensional, coming-of-age drama about the evolving friendship between five female high school friends in the port city of Incheon, Korea who have high hopes of staying close but the harsh realities of work, family, and finding their place in the world get in the way while keeping in touch as best they can.
The film wins points for avoiding all of the contrived dramatic pitfalls such as the three act, there-must-be-conflict, grab-your-hankies structure, and instead simply lays out its events and characters with no grand tearjerker scenes or emotional cliche's. One of the most interesting things of the film is the major role given to cell phones in the characters' lives and the way text messages are displayed during the film. The cat in question is a birthday gift that is quickly returned because one of the girls doesn't have time for a pet, so the cat is passed from friend to friend.
More than just a chick flick, but a nice directorial debut with a fresh, interesting take on storytelling.

Funny Girl
by LyanneA nice loooooong musical.
Not entertaining enough to not feel the hours go by, although Barbara Streisand is always great.
She's probably the only reason why this movie would be worth watching. Other than that...you wont be missing much.Hey, maybe you should see this.

Gohatto (Taboo)
by El HombreThe title of the film may be misleading since it's more about samurai allowing petty sexual desire to interfere with discipline and order. Quietly, the film recreates the period with such detail. It looks fantastic, and the characters come to life with real drama and humor and is the best darned gay samurai murder-mystery I have ever seen (actually, the only one). The story concerns the problems created when a beautiful, androgynous samurai played by Ryuhei Matsuda joins up. He and his fellow inductee, Tadanobu Asano (Ichi The Killer, Mongol), are the best fighters out of a crop of students, and they are chosen for full membership.
Besides the beautiful scenery and interesting premise, Gohatto is a good example of how the Japanese like it slow.
The film won't change your life, but it might give you something to mull over, and is an aesthetically Japanese experience as you're likely to find anywhere. You really can't go wrong with Beat Takeshi and Tadanobu Asano again.
Taboo isn’t a film about sex, it’s a film about Japan’s last samurai and the way one person can have a dramatic effect on those around him.

Friend
by El HombreOne of the most succesful films from Korea is this stylish gangster flick that follows a group of four friends over a period of almost three decades as their lives move from boyhood friendship. Two of the boys become members in rival gangs, while the other two pursue more conventional paths.
The film goes deeper than most of its' kind in exploring the root of violence, from the sadistic school teacher who beats his children in the classroom to the killings of gang warfare. Gang violence is usually quick, intense and often exquisitely shot. The body count is high, however Kyung-Taek does care to show that when a man is stabbed to death, it is both brutal and intimate. At times feels more of a truly personal film than trying to deliver a message, it's still strong enough to recommend but it could've been a lot more. Worth viewing.

1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four)
by El HombreWhile many refuse to acknowledge the present reality of this Orwellian nightmare, others know that creeping totalitarianism thrives best when it moves quietly in the shadows
"In accordance to the principles of Doublethink, it does not matter if the war is not real, or when it is, that victory is not possible. The war is not meant to be won. It is meant to be continuous. The essential act of modern warfare is the destruction of the produce of human labor. A hierarchical society is only possible on the basis of poverty and ignorance. In principle, the war effort is always planned to keep society on the brink of starvation. The war is waged by the ruling group against its own subjects. And its object is not victory over Eurasia or Eastasia, but to keep the very structure of society intact."

Family Portraits: A Trilogy of America
by El HombreEssentially three short films shot between 1996 and 2002 and presented with two different viewing options. The films can be watched as separate shorts or as part of one long three-part feature, and it really all depends on your ability to endure the grotesque brilliance that Buck captures.
Unexpected and brutal ugliness is the theme in Buck's vision of suburbia in that everything is fucked up behind closed doors.

Kill!
by El HombreIf Kill!'s plot sounds familiar, that's because it's based on Peaceful Days by Shugoro Yamamoto, the novel that was the inspiration for Sanjuro, however it's a very different movie, making the two interesting bookends. In "Sanjuro" the samurai are naive but committed to the samurai code of honor. in "Kiru" the anti-corruption samurai are more self-interested and concerned about self-preservation.
What separates Kiru (or Kill!) from the majority of Samurai films out there is that it's pretty funny. There is a fair amount of violence and blood in this movie, but the dark humor keeps this from becoming too incredibly heavy.
