| District 9 - R | A brilliant, original film. It was a refreshing change to see such a film, set in South Africa rather than the United States. A really interesting story, with a great documentary style. The special effects were great, but wern't overblown as in some films. | December 30, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Futurama: Into the Wild Green Yonder - Unrated | The opening intro was great and the whole Mars Vegas thing was really funny. The ending was great too and left it open. I am glad to know that Futurama is returning with a new season in 2010! | December 29, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Futurama: Bender's Game - Unrated | I am a big fan of The Lord of the Rings, so to see Futurama do a parody was great. The storyline seems a little odd at first, but it comes together in the end. | December 29, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Futurama: The Beast with a Billion Backs - Unrated | Perhaps not as good as Bender's Big Score, but still hilarious. | December 29, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Futurama: Bender's Big Score - PG | As a big Futurama fan, it was great to see the Planet Express crew back again, this time in a movie. The storyline was fun and wacky and it all got tied together nicely in the end. | December 29, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Tombstone - R | Fairly enjoyable but not great. Thought the dialogue was quite poor. I think i prefer Kevin Costner's film. | December 22, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Hurt Locker - R | December 21, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Bad Boys II - R | Director Michael Bay is the master of car chases and pulls off a spectacular one in this film. It was probably one of the best chase scenes i have seen in a film. Although the chase scene in The Island was also very good. Will Smith and Martin Lawrance work well together, the action is true to Michael Bay films, with huge explosions, exciting car chases and hectic gun battles. This film is pretty much a ridiculous no brainer action movie, but for what it is its quite good. Although personally i prefer the first Bad Boys film. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Australia - PG-13 | A lot better than i expected it to be. I never imagined that film about droving cattle could actually be so exciting. But it was great! The cast was really good as well. I think Hugh Jackman was a much better choice than Russell Crowe, while Nicole Kidman is also pretty good. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Pursuit of Happyness - PG-13 | A nice, inspring film. Will Smith shows his acting talent, in a good performance. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Transporter - PG-13 | December 20, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Pirates of the Caribbean: At Worlds End - PG-13 | Overall i don't think this film lived up to expectations. I still don't think the two sequels are as good as the first. I thought the film was too long and the plot was too fast paced for me to keep focused on what the hell was going on most of the time. Also all the other pirates from around the world, were totally wasted. Where were they in the supposedly "big" battle at the end. It only involved three ships. They didn't even take part. When i actually did realise what was going on in the film, i thought it was quite predictable. However there were some very funny moments, which were cool. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Coyote Ugly - PG-13 | December 20, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Transformers - PG-13 | Wow this film was really good. I don't know why Michael Bay gets slagged off by so many people. He may not be perfect, but he is without doubt in my opinion the greatest director of action movies. This movie has loads of action and the CGI was incredible and was the best i've ever seen. ILM have really proven they're the best in the special effects industry with only Weta Digital being anywhere close. But it will take a lot for another film to surpass the CGI seen in Transformers. Certainly one of the best sci-fi actin movies i've ever seen. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Mission: Impossible III - PG-13 |
"Who are you? What's you're name? Do you have a wife? A girlfriend? Because if you do, I'm gonna find her. I'm gonna hurt her. I'm gonna make her bleed, and cry, and call out your name. And then I'm gonna find you,and kill you right in front of her."
Mission Impossible II was total garbage, but this film makes up for it. Fantastic and really exciting action, with good performances throughout. Philip Seymour Hoffman was a pretty good villian. Other supporting cast members such as Ving Rhames and Maggie Q are good. The only complaint i can have about this film is the "Rabbits Foot." It is never explained what it is exactly. We are just led to believe it is some kind of weapon or technology which poses a dir threat if it falls into the wrong hands. I don't know whether its just lazy writing with it never being explained, but it is a bit silly. Apart from that this is an excellent action film. |

| The Patriot - R |
I was going to give this 4 stars but changed my mind. This film could very well have been brilliant, but it is let down by the historial inaccuray and the portrayal of the British. The British are shown to be vicious, uncaring and Nazi like. There are many times in the film where you could exchange a redcoat for an SS uniform and you wouldn't notice the difference between the two. The worst scene in the film was the *SPOILERS* burning of the villagers in the church, which was an almost exact copy of a real life attorcity carried out by the Nazis in Oradour in France in the Second World War. It seems that Roland Emmerich who is German, somehow wanted to associate such crimes with the British for some reason. It was bad enough Mel Gibson doing Braveheart without starring in this film as well.
The good points of the film were the acting by Gibson and the rest of the cast, which was really good, the wonderful battle scenes and the rousing score by John Williams. This film is in no way accurate and is if we're honest pure Hollywood propaganda crap. I could almost have imagined this film being released after the events of 9/11 just like Pearl Harbour was. The sad thing is some people will watch this film and accept it as historical fact, which it is the furthest from. It's not that fantastic but it's a bit of a guilty pleasure. |

| The League of Extraordinary Gentlemen - PG-13 | Its a shame. I think this film could have had the potential to be something big. Instead it turns out to be a ridiculous, farcical film with unbelieveable characters and plot. If you want to see an Alan Moore graphic novel adaptation film i suggest you see V for Vendetta which is one hell of a good watch. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Wanted - R | Generally entertaining but wildly over the top, which is to be expected of a film of this sort. However the acting was pretty good and the cast certainly made the movie interesting. | December 20, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Flags of Our Fathers - R | I thought this film was great. It got slightly confusing with some of the scenes, but it was stll really good. | December 17, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Legion - R | December 13, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Public Enemies - R | Was well made and Depp and Bale gave fine performances, but just wasn't as spectacular as i'd hoped it to be. Still worth a watch though. | December 12, 2009 | N/A | |||
| The Lovely Bones - PG-13 | December 9, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| Awakenings - PG-13 | December 8, 2009 | N/A | ||||
| 1984 (Nineteen Eighty-Four) - R | I thought John Hurt and Richard Burton gave great perforamnces. The film really captured the dystopian feel of the book. It would still be interesting to see a new adaptation. | December 4, 2009 | N/A | |||
| Gallipoli - PG | As a war film, this isn't all explosions and gun battles. War is portrayed as a game up until the last 20 minutes or so. It's a good drama, but don't expect lots of action. | November 26, 2009 | N/A |
