disappointing outcome from the talent of the cast

The Village
PG-13
I really enjoyed the first hour and a bit of this movie, with the M. Night touch of his masterful PG-13 horror cinematography and chilling sequences. The major problem I had with this film, and I think its his worst film because of it is the ending, it is shocking, but to me felt anti-climactic. I don't know if this sounds right or not but it just didn't do it for me. Its not like I was expecting more, its just I was like Wow thats really cool, and unfortunately that was but for a fleeting moment and then I descended into uncertainty and had somewhat of a bitter taste in my mouth like I had been cheated.
All in all I enjoyed this movie, but the script is also super-lame though bearable because it fits the story, and also is it just me or is William Hurt just a terrible actor?

WOW! i really enjoyed this movie contrary to popular belief that this movie was going to suck ass. I took a chance because i like hayden christensen and terrence howard. This movie offers a creepy possible reality that would be on everyones most feared to happen to them list where one is completely awake during anesthesia but cant move. He then hears a conspiracy to kill him and collect a butt load of money. HOW DOES THIS HAPPEN????!!??!!? one might ask..... i would reply quite simply watch the movie and you will see, the answer will reveal to be......
I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry
PG-13
This movie was a huuuuuuuuuge suprise for me. I thought this movie was going to be complete garbage going in, but alas, this movie was actually pretty damn funny. The chemistry between James and Sandler was hilarious, and both are truly kings of comedy.

my apoligies to all who have been victim to my plentiful hateful wall posts on their admiration of this film... for i must say after watching it a second time, and then quickly followed by a third i must say this film is quite brilliant. The action sequences are nothing to scoff at, and though the plot back in Sparta is not as up to par as the rest of the movie, it is adequate enough to keep the movie rolling. The ending is probably my favourite part with his shield and helmet, and the dialogue (as being a fan of the comic prior to the announcement that this was to be a film) is true Frank Miller "Sin City" -esque and is truly amazing. Gerard Butler was quite good, and the supporting cast was quite well casted. All in all a class-A rompin stompin action flick!

It has taken me a while to actually write a review for this movie, because it is honestly so awesomely action packed I don't know where to start. Therefore all I will say is that this is definitely the greatest action movie ever made, and has been made a template for a lot of more modern action films as well. Being my favourite action film, and also my favourite film I would like to say this movie just kicks a lot of ass!

Pulp Fiction

Every now and then a movie comes along that is just amazing. This is one of those movies. With a perfect script, great acting, phenomenal directing, and a great plot. This movie has so much to offer, and one cannot digest all of it in just one sitting. Having watched this movie at least 15 times I think I am finally ready to write a good review. This movie first off is Quentin Tarantino's masterpiece, and the greatest film to come out of the 90's. It is a shame that his other stuff after this has come to the same calibur (all i can say is thank god he sold the script for Natural Born Killers instead of this one). This movie is one of those that you never forget, with great quotes (Royale with Cheese, Ezekiel 25:17, Zed's Dead, get medieval on yo ass!) great characters, and great moments (OD'in, dancin, gimpin). My favourite part of this movie though is pace (surprisingly fast for a 2 1/2 hour movie) and the timeline. Switching from past to present to future and on the first viewing you're like "WTF just happenend". The pace of this movie is also perfect, a perfect example of tension and release drawing you in for a great climax and satisfying conclusion then toning it down so you can get your bearings once again .... and repeat. Also something I like about this film (and all of Tarantino's films) is that Tarantino knows how to write a screenplay. The dialogue is perfect, crazy lines, a broad foray of topics and knowledge, and the constant mixing of Jules finer linguistics with Vic Vega's harsh colloquial style of orating is a masterpiece in it of itself. Finally I want to say the choice of actors in phenomenal. I have never seen a movie where so many big name actors have such good chemistry with one another. Also it has some of my favs from Sam Jackson, Travolta, Willis, Ving Rhames, Tim Roth, Harvey Keitel, and the unforgettable Christopher Walken (in his best performance ever!). So in conclusion everyone should see this film, and you have not lived until.

Reservoir Dogs

Holy Crap man WHAT A GREAT MOVIE!! Harvey Keitel was superb, Steve Buscemi was phenomenal, and Tim Roth was awesome. Mr.Blonde def my fav character

American Psycho

Everything about this film to me is perfect. From the directing to the cinematography to the outstanding acting by Christian Bale to the script and the supporting cast. The constant dark atmosphere in this film is probably my favourite part. Going from horrific to outrageously funny at some parts is just one ways of the brilliance of the film. Also, the character development is flawless, getting inside Patrick Bateman's head allows the viewer to either sympathize or hate him. Definitely the part that makes the movie though is Christian Bale. His presence is ominous and frightening to the viewer, but he tries so hard to present a normal image to his associates. Bale's characterization of Bateman is I think the reason this movie is so good, because I honestly could not think of anyone who would do as good a job.

Before the Devil Knows You're Dead
by CraigDirected by: Sidney Lumet.
Starring: Philip Seymour Hoffman, Ethan Hawke, Albert Finney, Marisa Tomei.
<< "The thing about real estate accounting is that you can, you can add down the page or across the page and everything works out. Everyday, everything adds up. The...the total is always the sum of its parts. It's, uh...clean. It's clear. Neat, absolute, but my life, it doesn't add up. It, uh...nothing connects to anything else. It's, uh...I'm not, I'm not the sum of my parts. All my parts don't add up to one...to one 'me', I guess." >>
The story follows two brothers who organize a robbery of there parents jewelery store. Everything is set nicely, they are to rob it when there parents are not working, to ensure they don't get hurt, the insurance will cover it all and they will get the money that they so badly need. But when everything goes wrong, it sends everyone of them into a chain of events that none of them can change.
What can I say? I knew the film was going to be worthy of a watch yet I still held off a bit from seeing it...how stupid of me.
The screenplay from first timer Kelly Masterson is simply outstanding. It acts more as a character drama rather then a full on crime thriller and it works better that way. The films pacing might have some people lost in the dust and it jumps a fair bit around in time from character to character, but without that, the film wouldn't feel as complete as it really is. Each character is given special treatment and such a brilliant study on the events that occur, it contains so many layers I really don't think I can tap them all.
Sidney Lumet really is back at the top of his game here. I could go on about the overall craftsmanship of the film making seeing as I can now see it from that angle (being a filmmaker myself), from the incredible continuity and setups, but its really how Sidney directs that people should worry about. It deft, its thoughtful and its damn near flawless. He still has it in him to create something great and thats what you get.
The acting really is superb and exactly what is needed for such characters. Philip Seymour Hoffman gives his best performance since his Oscar win. His character has different raging sides of emotions and Philip deftly portrays this hateful man perfectly. Ethan Hawke sits nicely in the background showing that he can do good without stepping forward, knowing he isn't as great as the leads around him, but he does incredibly well. Marisa Tomei still looks amazing for her age but it is strange to see her going topless in her recent films, she may be a little underused here, but we know that she can act around her body...and Albert Finney is simply fantastic. Heartbreaking, intense and simply gripping, he gives the best performance I have ever seen from him.
There is so much to this film and still by the end of it, I felt fully satisfied, its a rare film that you can see as 'complete'. Before the Devil Knows You're Dead is masterful work, with a stunning, character driven screenplay from first timer Kelly Masterson, deft and near flawless direction from Sidney Lumet and some outstanding performances from the main leads, especially Albert Finney and Philip Seymour Hoffman. Quite the masterpiece indeed and up there with Lumet's best. The critics are certainly right here. A very satisfying film.

We Own the Night
by CraigDirected by: James Gray.
Starring: Joaquin Phoenix, Eva Mendes, Mark Wahlberg, Robert Duvall, Alex Veadov.
<< "Remember. It's better to be judged by twelve people, than carried by six." >>
The story follows two brothers who have chosen different paths. Ones a New York nightclub manager. On the rise, hes in talks to manage another club and the drugs are available to him where ever he goes. The other is a cop, who has followed in his fathers footsteps. After he raids his brothers nightclub for a Russian Thug, things start to spiral out of control when a hit is put on one of the brothers.
The plot idea really has the potential to be something great. A powerful tale of brotherhood and the complexities of the crime syndicate that went on in the late 1980's...unfortunately this film doesn't reach that.
What pulls this film down is James Gray's undeveloped and weak script. As a director, he is impressive. The film has amazing production values and is competently told with his keen eye for visuals, but the script really starts to lose things after the decent first act. The characters go by the numbers, going through the motions and being there for every silly setup to create conflict in the story. Mark Wahlberg's character especially is horribly undeveloped after a great start. I sat there wanting to see what he could do from the corner he is pushed into. But it isn't just about the characters though, James Gray squeezes in too many dramatic moments and silly dialogue that really pulls the film down after many great scenes, especially the shootout between the cops and the Russians that really is intense and shocking.
The performances are actually quite acceptable, considering what they are given. Joaquin Phoenix is rather underrated by many and needs to be seen as more of a powerhouse actor. He inhabits the characters attitude with flair and battles through what he has to work with. Mark Wahlberg is acceptable and is better here than what we have seen of him in the last 2 years (post-Departed)...and Eva Mendes delivers her better performance as the girlfriend fighting an internal battle to keep supporting her lover.
We Own The Night had major potential to be seen as a classic crime thriller...but it falls short. For the most part it stays above what we see nowadays with some solid performances and impressive direction by James Gray, who shows a decent portrayal of 1980's New York accompanied with some great scenes...but it fails at being anything more because of way too many unnecessary moments to create conflict and overall bland characters that don't give anything. Its worth a watch, even though I felt frustrated...but my attitude by the end of it was simply...meh.Thought I'd wait till DVD...glad I did.

Paradise Lost - The Child Murders at Robin Hood Hills
by .:SexiVixxENThis came from a recommendation (Thanks Blake) ,I had put it off for a few weeks because of the subject matter. It is excruciatingly hard to watch.I mean these 3 little 8 year old buys died. Not only did they die they were brutally tortured, mutilated, raped ,bludgeoned, and drowned,Yeah all while being hogtied. This movie made me ill as a mother.Made me disgusted the way these redneck ass hillbilly, Mutherfuckers treated this case!Um "Lost the evidence'????WHAT????? Oh Lord ,My heart goes out to the parents of these 3 little boys,What they had to see and hear in that courtroom would haunt me forever in my dreams.I really want to watch part 2 of this now.The ending which I won't give away even though this movie has been out forever is soooo unsettled. There is a HUGE curveball thats thrown into the whole mix towards the end that leaves me really wondering did these 3 boys do this. Were they capable of pulling off all that had to be planned and done.Or were they just ,normal teens, talkin trash, dressing different, and by golly you can't like in the dam Bible belt and believe in anything other than God or even think it or you will surely burn in Satan's Lap (rolls eyes).Anyway please chat back with me if you have seen this one,I would love to gear the thoughts of others.Blake you first buddy.=)

Hancock
by .:SexiVixxENOK,ok I know what happened now,I get it.People who put the final stamp of approval on Trailers should maybe be put through a 2nd opinion sometimes. From the trailer this movie APPEARS to be a comedy. It is funny, but as the story proceeds you find out there is some drama involved a deeper meaning to Hancock and his existence. Then you throw Charlize Theron into the mix who in the trailer is bearly even shown and it 's almost as if you are watching a different movie.Hancock was great,I think Will Smith kicks ass and I always will.I think he is one of the top notch actors we have today.Maybe something could have been done more with the script as well, but all in all its worth watching =)

Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
by FabioIf you're expecting Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull to be a fourth in the series, you'll be disappointed. The original three were set in the 1930s, looking for buried treasure in a Treasure of the Sierra Madre style. The new film is set in the 1950s, and that changes everything.
The film itself is well written, and well made with only a few exceptions.
some of the animation and action sequences seemed too difficult to believe (even for an Indy film) like the monkey-rope scene.
The only thing that I hate the most is Shia LaBeouf dressed like Marlon Brando in "the wild one"..I can't accept that!Hey, you should really see this!

by .:SexiVixxENThis movie is pretty incredible.Yet another movie that Daniel Day Lewis will just blow you away.He is an amazingly Powerful actor with such a calm demeanor on the surface. He puts so much passion into his roles,I don't know of too many actors that are of his caliber.Winona Ryeder also did a really good job in this as well.I didn't know the whole story behind the Salem witch trials before this.It is absolutely absurd that a handful af adolescent girls with nothing better to do than be bitchy and spiteful could carry so many innocent townspeople to their deaths.Anyways if you have not seen this you really REALLY should,Very worth the watch!

The gang members release their frustrated emotions by racing, overturning a car, and by vicariously participating in a savage fight between Johnny and Chino (Lee Marvin), formerly a part of Johnny's gang but now a rival club...
Violence escalates when the town forms a vigilante committee, and inevitably there is an accidental killing.Johnny is saved from wrongful arrest by Kathie (Mary Murphy), a local girl who, in spite of herself, falls in love with him.
