My Favorite Movies

  criterionmaster1's Rating My Rating
1
Fanny och Alexander (Fanny and Alexander) (1982,  R)
Fanny och Alexander (Fanny and Alexander)
Simply the best film ever made. An epic in scale and in length (5 1/2 hours) that I could seriously watch AND get something new out of with every new viewing.
2
Dancer in the Dark (2000,  R)
3
Werckmeister Harmoniak (2001,  Unrated)
Werckmeister Harmoniak
Possibly the greatest movie ever made!
4
The Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai) (1954,  Unrated)
The Seven Samurai (Shichinin no Samurai)
Best action film ever made. Nobody could make a film like this besides Kurosawa; to be able to make an action film 3 hours long and to not have ANY pacing problems, it is a testament to how a film should be made.
5
A Clockwork Orange (1971,  R)
6
Raging Bull (1980,  R)
Raging Bull
Best sports film period. Rocky can't hold a candle when it comes to boxing pictures. DeNiro outdoes himself with each film but this could possibly be his best performance yet.
7
2001: A Space Odyssey (1968,  G)
8
Almost Famous (2000,  R)
Almost Famous
I can probably connect with Untitled more than any film ever. If I had to pick a movie that showed what I wanted to do as a director Untitled would be it.
9
Faces (1968,  PG-13)
Faces
Brutally and painfully real.
10
8 1/2 (1963,  Unrated)
11
Pulp Fiction (1994,  R)
Pulp Fiction
Basically everything I love about film all in one package.
12
Les Quatre Cents Coups (The 400 Blows) (1959,  Unrated)
