| Dead Like Me: Life After Death - R |
DUDE DLM = I'm so there. *** Post-viewing edit: All DLM fans will see this as the unthinkable, one last lengthy as fuck episode drawn out to answer some questions that left us pondering and make us laugh again with old friends. A sweet little story, mixed with enough of that reaper humour we so miss. :] |

| Adventureland - R |
It wasn't amazing, but I loved the choice of misfits in here. Eisenberg was fun, Stewart can act, Reynolds is a total unlikeable character...and then we have Wiig and Hader in the mix. Not amazing, but I didn't feel like I wasted my time watching this at all. :] |

| Max Payne - PG-13 |
Ever since I saw MM's music in tune to the first trailer...it intrigued me...and I hear it's a bloody video game? Interesting. :] **** - post-viewing edit The Spiel: I really kept myself as far away from peoples' opinions on this movie as much as possible, and in the end..I kinda liked it. Seeing as I have not one iota of knowledge of how the games reflect with this adaptation, I'll just tell you lot what I see. The Who/What/When/et al: The story is about a character named Max Payne -no, sadly it's not Power but heck this name fits pretty well- and he's a detective in the police force. Something really horrible happened to his family, since when he's not been the same and he's stuck in the same rut. Trying to solve the case, over and over and over. Then, some brutual murders turn up...and funny enough Max was at one point or another where these people were prior to their deaths. *cue suspense music* Somehow, the entire force thinks it's his fault and seeing as he's not really the talkative type...accusations become clear. Here's suspect numero uno, yet Max couldn't care less...something happened that ties these deaths together and then vengeance is definitely best served cold. Once he teams up with a Russian mafia (?) assassin trying to unravel the mystery to bring about justice, we have a menagerie of characters that become apart of the story and turn out to be either obstacles...or mere hurdles to cross. Ending Thoughts & Junk: Curious, curious storyline that leads to a very interesting conculsion. I adored the mix of mythlogy in this...and for fear of telling you lot too much...I'd just recommend it to those who love a gut film noir. Ah, Marky Mark...your reputation precedes you with that gravelly voice and vigilante-esque attitude! What a peculiar assortment of players upon this set, cameo one upon the next...and in a neat little bundle they amount to. And the effects! Wonderful, not amazingly new...but pretty damn decent trying for originality in this day and age. Overall, not bad...not bad at all. Quotastic: There's an army of bodies under this river, people who ran out of time, out of friends. I could feel the dead down there, reaching up to welcome me as one of their own. It was an easy mistake to make. Visual Gutness: ![]() And the only way you'll find out EXACTLY who this dark alluring creature is...is to watch the flick...or play the game, I guess. :] |

| Observe and Report - R |
Lol, we're seeing it this weekend. **** Um, I don't know if I'm supposed to laugh or cringe. Totally off, completely off. It's beyond weird of a movie. Strange characters, and even stranger situations...but there was something amazing in this dark as fuck twisted comedy. |

| Surrogates - PG-13 |
Not a bad movie, actually...we wanted to go see 9 but it was already far outta reach, so we settled for Willis and these clones. Intriguing story, albeit a bit predictable. Willis looks a bit odd with that toupee. LOL. review tbc, I'm sure. |

| River's Edge - R |
Yes, yes...I know the drill. Shame on me for not having seen this sooner. I kinda adore movies in this type of fashion. Be it Stand by Me, Alpha Dog or that one with another river and dead bodies, ah the complications. But, really Glover and Reeves shine in here..they really do. Whoddathunk Neo's got some acting skillz? Nah, srsly. It was fucking intense to watch this plot unfold, srsly...12 yr olds stealing beer, and guns? Are they crazy. Must have been the cold war effect had on America at the time? I sense a wee bit of Mersaultian influence in here as well, curious...simply curious how apathy stirs things up. Anyways, review TBC. Oh ja, and before I forget? Gold star for TC recommending this wee gem to me. xD |

| Pirate Radio (The Boat That Rocked) - R |
Well, could this be the day that I return to my old tricks of reviewing flicks while I wait with anticipation for Dexy to take up face on my telly? Perhaps it is!! **** The Spiel: Okay, now what really drew me to this movie was not the amazing stellar cast that they chose but the whole premise behind it. It's the era of rock'n'roll, and a pretty huge one for the UK in particular...and the government finds something lewd and obscene about it so they go on to shut it down...but one thing mang, DAMN THE MAN. The Who/What/Why/Where/et al: This is the story of how eight completely different DJs changed the history of rock'n'roll. Taking places in the 1960s, these rebels broke the law ---by really not doing anything wrong at all--- by playing all this amazing music off the coasts of the Atlantic ocean. Seeing as they were in the middle of the ocean no one could touch them, diplomatically. However, there was something about this idea that drove the British government crazy and so they figured if you hate something enough, just make up a law to make it illegal. It is also the story of the people upon the boat, one which is a young man named Carl (Sturridge), affectionately referred to as 'Young Carl' aboard Radio Rock ship. He broke some rules in school, drugs and cigs? Smoking? So his mommy shipped him off to his godfather Quentin (Nighy) and his band of audiotory enrichment hoodlums. Once aboard the ship, he meets everybody: The Count who leads the station (Hoffman), Angus the nutter (Rhys Darby), Dave (Frost), Simon (O'Dowd), News John (Adamsdale), Bob the Silver Soul of the Dawn Treader (Brown), Midnight Mark (Wisdom) and a few others. Amongst them is Carl's roommate; Thikc Kevin (Brooke) who just happens to be around when the most eventful things are going on and leads Carl to believe that his estranged father might be closer than he thinks. On the other side we have Sir Alistair Dormany (Branagh) and Twatt his wonderboy (Davenport) who is as eager to shut down the radio station. They come up with elaborate schemes and are thwarted again and again until finally they find something worth pressing and do everything in their power to bring down the ship. Amidst the great rebellion with the government we see Carl become apart of the ship from the posh tosser they all thought he was to begin with. As the government tests them, they bring back a famous voice in radio Gavin (Ifans) and that's when the real trouble begins. Ending Thoughts and Junk: I don't really see why the reviews were so terrible for this movie, the acting is incredible and the story is if a bit far from the truth actually quite entertaining and a joy to wach unfold. Not to mention the vast array of music used throughout, it's going to be one hell of a soundtrack boys and girls! ![]() I'm sure this is a move that everyone will enjoy. :D |

The cast DOES NOT disappoint, it's such a delight to such a medley of actors interacing together...whether it's under negative thought sequences or not. Quite a funny movie and entertaining as all hell, especially well when you watch it you'll think they were totally clever to cast who they did. Oh ja, and it's a book?! I'm so there. | Law Abiding Citizen - R |
What a thrilling flick to watch, so brutal and intense...a wee bit predictable at one or two parts but it did NOT take away from the entire principle of the thing. Butler and Foxx do not disappoint. Recommend it to anyone who's seeking something totally compelling and hard to imagine what's gonna be the end result. [review tbc when I get around to all my unfinished reviews!] |
