6/10 I have a very love/hate relationship with the director "Kiyoshi Kurosawa". He has great ideas, he is good at what he does, and he can really draw you in. However, there is always something "out of whack" in his films that messes the whole film up. The film"Cure" is a good example. Its a great film, a VERY cool idea, and I loved seeing each poor soul that got hit with the "cure". BUT....The villain just could not carry the film, and it knocked the whole film out of wack. Now back to this film. I had to watch this film two times to make it to the end. The first time I got bout 35 min. into the film and it was SOO heavy handed I just had to stop. Not willing to give up on the film I tryed a 2nd time to give the film a fair shake (some films really do change on the second half). About 45 min. into the film the story started to pick up and was really drawn into it. It did really well till I got to the end. Then I kinda had to go "Huh?". I liked the twist mind you, but he should have stoped there. I had to think for a bit on what really was the problem with this film. At first thought the film was just muddled across the board. I decided later though that really was not it. I think now what it is is that "Kiyoshi Kurosawa" got a case of the Ring/Grudge bug and tryed to make that kinda film. He also dint want to make another "clone" so he was going to do his style of film instead. That is were he went wrong. Rather then do a blend of the two styles he kept jumping back and forth with them. Its like he really could not decide what he really wanted to do. So instead of one film , it was more two halfs of a film put together to make one film. So all and all. Good film.....BUT,,,
