I've never read any of the books so I don't know how this piece of garbage compares. All I can say is the film is a cure for insomnia! I should have known that because it's about teeny-boppers and vampires with no fangs that this film was going to be horrible. But I rented the film anyway to either support or rebuke my theory.
It's slow. It screws with the lore and beauty of vampires. The acting is non-existent. I don't care about any of the characters. Either I'm too old because I graduated high school 20 years ago, or this film is one of the worst ever made.
Edward is not forever, but my headache sure is!

In short, the visuals were over-the-top awesome, the story was predictable and far-fetched, and the laws of physics were broken in a few places. Spoilers ahead.
The visuals were crazy. Watching Los Angeles disappear into a bottomless cavern was fantastic, but then to see New York swallowed by a 200-foot tsunami was really impressive.
There's a scene where Yellowstone National Park erupts like a volcano. There's smoke, fire, and debris flying all over the place. Not one object hits our heroes. In fact, our heroes make it through almost without a scratch.
There were also a couple of problems with the plot, like when they talk about the magnetic poles shifting. There's been evidence found that when the poles shift, life as we know it ends abruptly. 3 years for the Chinese to design and build 7 arcs for humanity to use? No way! Although that might explain why there are only 3 arcs out of 7 in the final shot, named 4, 6 & 7. Hmmm.
I'm fairly convinced that the director doesn't like having a Democratic president. He destroys the White House in this film, and he also destroyed it in Independence Day. But that's just a casual observation.
Honestly, I really enjoyed this film. If you can look past the stuff I here, you'll enjoy this film also.
