The Invention of Lying - PG-13 Creative, funny and thought provoking. Very enjoyable but got a little drawn out for a while there. Totally worth seeing, it'll make you think and wonder about life and what it's all about. Overall I loved it 7/10. December 14, 2009

Confessions of a Shopaholic - PG I have to admit that I actually watched this movie through... but it almost all sucked. It's a book adaptation and you can tell. The scenes don't fit, the pace is too fast, there is little flow, little continuity and strange leaps forward in plot and relationships. The acting is ok (if a little girly) especially the main male actor (Hugh Dancy - who seems to be Hugh Grant in a different body).
Overall 3/10 because the moral to the rather disjointed story is actually pretty decent in the end.

State of Play - PG-13 Intelligent, captivating, fast paced, twisty and very very good. Crowe is exceptional, McAdams is gorgeous... and awesome and Ben Affleck plays his important role with excellence. A fun watch but keep up or you might miss what's going on. 9/10 October 12, 2009

(500) Days of Summer - PG-13 Quite the enjoyable, fun, slighty quirky movie. Both Beck and I enjoyed it and found the ending not predictable, not how we expected it but still satisfying and left us with that good feeling you want. Zooey is fun to watch (and gorgeous) and you get the chemistry they have on screen. 7/10... definitely worth a watch. October 12, 2009

Year One - PG-13 Totally frickin hilarious. Saw it with good company so loved all the gags. I think Michael Cera stole the show though. That kid has awesome comedic timing! October 11, 2009

Push - PG-13 Push impressed me. My expectations weren't high because special 'powers' has been overdone recently with the likes of X-Men, Heroes, Jumper, Skyhigh, Hancock, IronMan, Superman... the list goes on. I hesitated in seeing the movie for this purpose.

But Push is different and done well. There are Watchers (they get a glimpse into the future), Pushers (push a thought into a person's mind), Movers (telekinetic) and a few others.

It's mostly fast paced, has solid acting and offers an intelligent and clever plot with more twists than a twisty turny thing.

It's clear we're not done yet with superpowers movies. The 21st Century person still yearns to be more than they are and while this is the case, movies like Push will continue to be made... hopefully well!

Very enjoyable, not creepy like Heroes and fun to follow I give Push 4/5. Loved it.

Spanglish - PG-13 Thoughtful, amusing, heart warming, real and enjoyable, Spanglish takes you into the life of an American family who employs a Spanish housekeeper who doesn't speak English. One aspect I loved was that the father (Adam Sandler) deals with every problem thrown his way (and there are several) sensibly, unlike his neurotic, high-strung wife (Tea Leoni). The script is crafted well and the characters and relationships are likeable and real. Spanglish is well worth a watch and displays some great fathering and mothering moments too. 8/10. Loved it. The Ugly Truth - R Beck wanted to see this movie but I was hesitant because of the level of sexual references but they were clever not college so it wasn't too bad. One recommendation I'd give... don't see this movie unless you're married... it's just going to screw with your head in places you didn't need. Most solid Christian married couples I know who've seen it loved it. Beck and I did too. August 26, 2009

Inglourious Basterds - R Brilliantly shot, excellently crafted and written. Inglorious is one of a kind, a history defying, spaghetti western riddled with spats of violent moments which are visual but not over-bloody like other Tarantino flicks. The movie is dramatic but amusing and enjoyable to watch if you don't mind the odd scalping. Brad Pitt is awesome as is Christoph Waltz as the bad guy. A fun watch. 8/10 August 25, 2009
