A very brave movie possibly the first fairy tale made with adults in mind, beautifully executed a real heart warming tale that has some real gripping moments in it. i recommend this to everyone that has yet to see it, subtitles may be a problem for some people but i feel this film deserves all the viewers it can get so i suggest to the people that frown upon subtitles to give this a try it just may change your opinion.

Takashi Miike takes the reigns From a novel by Ryu Murakami for a movie that will keep its audience in suspense until the credits roll the film is Audtition. A story of a lonely mans search for love that finds him Asami (Eihi Shina) a quiet shy girl with not alot fot say for herself but as the plot develops a different side to her starts to appear and subsequently the relationship is abandoned in his eyes..... but unfortunatey for him not in Asami's, for anyone that had seen Misery and remembers the scene in which Kathy Bates smashes James Caans ankles with a sledgehammer this will be alot worse ive never quite seen cheesewire and needles used in such a malicious and evil way. this is by far my favourite Takashi Miike movie its brilliantly directed and the acting is exceptional its a fairly odd movie but pretty normal by Miike standards. watch it if you dare. for the people that said Hostel was more gory than this movie and if you want scary go and watch that i dont think you quite understand this film the idea is to plant the seed in your head and give you something to think about when the film finishes IDIOTS! hostel is a hack and slash movie that bases the amount of gore and blood it produces to shock the audience yes Eli Roth did a great job with that movie but Audition is a completely different kind of movie from that so the comparison cannot be made.

From the twisted and sometimes sadistic mind of Miike Takashi Ichi the Killer is truly an evil movie dont get me wrong i loved every minute of it but i have never seen so much violence and blood and gore in one movie, out of the films i have seen that he has directed this is by far the sickest although in saying that i am yet to watch Visitor Q and why that is not strictly the same kind of movie it apparently has alot of scenes of rape incest and various other taboo subjects. Miike's attempt to shock the audience with the extremes the characters will go to within this movie is very apparent and it doesnt really leave you anywhere else to look but at the carnage that follows, all in all for people that like to be shocked and enjoy Miike films this is a must.

This is one of those movies that you have to watch on your own, Gasper Noe does not leave anything to the audiences imagination whether it be a 20 minute graphic rape scene or a man having his face smashed into mush with a fire extinguisher you are basically left with nowhere else to look. this is a masterpiece of true beauty that really makes you feel for the victim "Monica Bellucci" for those of you that have never heard of this movie it runs basically backwards with all the most graphic scenes at the start of the movie and ends up almost bringing a tear to your eye when you begin to see the love the characters have for eachother as there whole world is shattered. despite all the horrific moments in this movie i watched the vast majority without even battering an eyelid however once the story unfolded the realisation of everything starts to set in and will leave you feeling sick to your stomach. a plus point is although its a heart wrenching movie it end happily in a way

A truly beautiful film, brilliant direction guiding the audience through the struggles and the thurst for acceptence of John Merrick, this film really pulled on my heart strings and brought a tear to my eye, i recommend this to any movie goer that wants to have an experience rather than just sitting down for your run of the mill hollywood blockbuster.

Fantastic movie i actually enjoyed this more than Oldboy, a story about a young girl who is made to take the blame and serve a prison sentence for abducting and murdering a small child, upon release she seeks out justice and leaves a trail of bodies in her wake. until finally finding the murderer and bringing him to justice the way it should be for those sorts of crimes leaving the decision in the hands of the murdered childrens familes, do they choose to hand him over to the police or do they choose to lay down the plastic sheets and break out the axes and sharp tools to have there way with him. i recommend this to anyone who has seen oldboy but not the other parts of the vengence trilogy.

Before watching this movie i had heard a mixed reception on one hand i have a friend that worships Takashi Miikes work but i also have friends that feel his work is a little confusing and has a distinct lack of direction. now after seeing this film i agree with both those statements Miike does not shy away from the extreme and i admire that in a director he is not affraid to challenge boundaries that could be deemed unapproachable, this movie confused me alot which if you read the synopsis shouldnt really happen but the story pulls you in and out of real life situations into the deranged characters delusions leaving you wondering whether what you just witnessed actually happend. this is a must see movie for anyone with and open imagination and the ending will definately have you on the end of your seat screaming at your tv. certainly not for the faint of heart and people that may be easily offended but as like all Miike films you should expect the unexpected.
