15
Oldboy (2005,  R)
16
Brick (2006,  R)
Brick
See this film! Not only a great plot that even if you can see stuff coming, still keeps you guessing, but dialogue punchier than Tarantino, and it's teenagers, in high school, and drugs/gangs, and comedy fighting/bloody fighting/murder, and a femme fetale. Vaguely Donnie Darko vs. Bugsy Malone.
17
Sin City (2005,  R)
Sin City
Exactly how it should be

Twelve Monkeys (12 Monkeys) (1995,  R)

The Life Aquatic with Steve Zissou
On a par with The Royal Tanenbaums
25
Inside Man (2006,  R)
Inside Man
Slick intelligent film that is more than just a heist movie, and Spike Lee throws modern and historical racial issues into the mix well
26
The Departed (2006,  R)
The Departed
The best of Infernal Affairs I, II and III. Stellar cast, intriguing plot, masterful direction, snappy dialogue - the best Asian to American remake so far?
27
The Illusionist (2006,  PG-13)
The Illusionist
Not quite as grand as The Prestige (it's impossible not to compare the two films), but no worse for it. Simple and sweet, as much as it borrows from Romeo & Juliet. I still have no idea why Norton is holding a glowing ball in the poster though!
28
The Good Shepherd (2006,  R)
The Good Shepherd
The Very Good Shepherd

38
Ocean's Eleven (2001,  PG-13)
Ocean's Eleven
Slick.
39
Love Actually (2003,  R)
Love Actually
Guilty pleasure! I'm sorry to those who didn't like it but it captures so many different types of love, and isn't a girly as say Bridget Jones. Stellar cast too.
40
Austin Powers in Goldmember (2002,  PG-13)
41
Hot Fuzz (2007,  R)
Hot Fuzz
Quite possibly the funniest Wright/Pegg/Frost/Nighy film made so far ("work it out!"). I've not laughed this much since Team America. If you like comedy, action, and/or the 'cunt-ry-side', you MUST see this.
42
Notes on a Scandal (2006,  R)
Notes on a Scandal
Cracking little TV drama - superb acting. Quick-paced and all the better for it.
43
Blood Diamond (2006,  R)
Blood Diamond
Cracking stuff. Politics, world culture, action, romance, and perhaps most importantly, realism/education. Superbly made and acted.
44
The Last King of Scotland (2006,  R)
The Last King of Scotland
Impressive thriller and great Whitaker performance. Cross between Hotel Rwanda and The Motorcycle Diaries (for those that need comparasons). Film Four just keep making great movies.
45
Finding Nemo (2003,  G)
Finding Nemo
Beautiful looking and funny enough for me to overlook the relatively simple story!
46
Deja Vu (2006,  PG-13)
Deja Vu
Slick, modern, beautifully shot, another great bit of Denzel, interesting plot... I'd like to see it again (or have I already seen it before?) ;)
47
Stranger Than Fiction (2006,  PG-13)
Stranger Than Fiction
Eternal John Malkovich Of The Spotless Truman Show Adaptation! (if you like those films, you should like this)
48
Romeo + Juliet (1996,  PG-13)
Romeo + Juliet
Great film but I'm not sure about the story ;-)
49
Casino Royale (2006,  PG-13)
Casino Royale
A great Bond film, but still a Bond film, so not amazingly great.
50
The Prestige (2006,  PG-13)
The Prestige
Beautifully crafted film - great cast and storytelling, though I kinda figured things out before 'The Prestige' of the film.
51
Mou gaan dou (Infernal Affairs) (2002,  R)
52
Children of Men (2006,  R)
Children of Men
Incredibly realistic near-future sci-fi that could easily happen. Mainly shot with handycams yet I didn't spot the CGI/effects at any point. More to the point, an interesting prediction of the future, very well acted, the only flaw for me was the underwhelming ending
53
24 Hour Party People (2002,  R)
54
Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon (Wo hu cang long) (2000,  PG-13)
55
A Scanner Darkly (2006,  R)
A Scanner Darkly
Not for everyone, but I really enjoyed it. Looks amazing, of course, but an interesting near-future sci-fi story and some great performances from the four leads
