Donnie Darko
R
Well what can i say about this movie. Director Richard Kelly provides such a refreshing approach to the world of cinema with this time travelling cracker which is entertainingly weird to say the least and provides Jake Gyllenhaal with in my opinion one of his performances of his so far short career. Also has such a complex plot which has an amazing ending and the soundtrack is nothing short of amazing which includes the iconic Gary Jules hit Mad World. This movie simply has everything. In short, THE BEST MOVIE I HAVE EVER WATCHED!!!! FACT!!!
2.
Crash
R
this movie is an audience challenging, heart wrenching and brutally honest movie but so amazing. Every member of the cast delivers great performances. Worthy winner of best movie at Oscars!!!
3.
The Last Kiss
R
This was as terrific as i was expecting and a whole lot more. Far more watchable than all the cliche ridden romantic movies brought out this year. Zach Braff just seems to get stronger in terms of performance as the movie progresses and the ending is excellent which shows that you don't know what you got till its gone. Tony Goldwyn doesn't manipulate to make the audience to feel sorry for the characters and you can relate to them, which helps in terms of its realsitic approach towards love.
4.
The Breakfast Club
R
definitely stands up as one of the best teen movies considerin all the poor recent attempts includin accepted and eurotrip. So Hilarious
5.
Casino Royale
PG-13
I absolutely loved this. Daniel Craig was perfect for the role of Bond. The violence is more back to basics and the gadgetry has been axed and the movie is a whole lot better for it. Also Eva Green delivers a performance which breaks away from the traditional eye candy part by actually being involved. The movie event of the year!!!!!
6.
Garden State
R
This is simply a coming of age drama which gives every actor within this movie to bring a top notch performance thanks to a powerful plot. Zach Braff fulfils his credentials as a major star with his balance of acting, writing and directing this movie and his co stars are just as good, notably Natalie Portman. A SPECIAL MOVIE!!

Rocket Science
by MarcusA little independent gem, "Rocket Science" is as charming and quirky as the 2007 darling "Juno" and even better than other coming-of-age comedies such as "Thumbsucker" or "Napoleon Dynamite", but there's nothing "funny" in this excellent comedy. The main character really doesn't have a clue where to go in his search for a meaning of life and the others around him are as lost. "Rocket Science" is just like Hal Hefner: Unresolved but brilliant, Annoying but unforgettable.

WALL-E
by Marvin
An Adventure Beyond the Ordinar-E
Directed by : Andrew Stanton
Genres: Action & Adventure, Animation
Released: June 25, 2008
EXTRAORDINAR-E MASTERPIEC-E!
After Finding Nemo, there's no animated feature that could encore my childlike credulity except Wall-E.Wall-E is a astonishing oxygen supply for our amigdala,a dazzling charmer, and a storytelling champion.Once again done so beautifully by Pixar Studios,Wall-E is a big triumphant for Disney, and a feature which almost impossible to top,an audio-visual masterpiece.
The story of Wall-E is never lose a second of charm in it's ticking second,he squeaked,he winked,he bleeped, and he have a big heart.Wall-E's relationship with Eve is simply irresistable, and remember, what so wrong about that? What they preserve is simply exquisitely turned beauty and beast relationship into what so called love, unconditional and without any bullshits, and isn't that so cliché?In this case,NO.
Pixar has accomplished a termendous victory with this one whatsoever.Pixar created what we call a "MASTERPIECE",an astounding visual grace, and a breakthrough in sound engineering. And like Charlie Chaplin's movies,Wall-E is a wordless masterpiece,Pixar has successfully captured every emotion perfectly with grandeur score and an beyond-words CGI,making Wall-E is a classic without any brilliant script involved. The story of Wall-E also a symbolize the gluttonies, which are the humans, conflicted the satire, that maybe in the future, robots might have a bigger heart than human themselves,as they can see in truly magical creature called,Wall-E,which so far is the most adorable made by Disney.
Wall-E is an engaging and enchanting story of the loner,a tragic masterpiece that will stay forever, which also involves a great human's vision, not only a animation razzle-dazzle nor brainless story.Wall-E is one of the greatest Pixar ever, and has received a countless praise from me,an animation that should be worshipped through time, side by side with Disney's classic, such as Mickey Mouse,Lion King, and Finding Nemo.Wall-E is a never-ending adventure full of wonder, wonderous visual amazement,a wonder charm by it?s mute cast, and unbearable enchantment of a outer-space experience. No doubt,Wall-E is a animation classic period.

Son of Rambow
by Marvin
Rated: (PG-13)
Directed by: Garth Jennings
Casts : Bill Milner,Will Poulter,Ed Westwick,Jessica Hynes
Genres: Comedy
A very good movie about friendship, belief, dreams, and brotherhood.Son of Rambow, which also a rememberance of 80's,is undoubtly a indie masterpiece.
As well as many moments were delivered,Son of Rambow also remind us about a simple tales whereabouts a little kids who simply addicted to the movie
"Rambo", made a spoof of Rambo movie itself. And in this times where kids love to spend their time with High School Musical and Hannah Montana,Son of Rambow was considered as a bloody diamond based on the important messages about family and friendship also the way it's portraying the childhood in the most delicate way.
Yes,Son of Rambow is a great portrayal about childhood etc.But what's greater is how Garth Jennings made this film utterly beliavable, what the critics called,"At least it's better than what Sylvester Stallone's doing now."
The two lead actors were completely adorable and insanely genius, and the total of the two performances sum up better than what Stallone did in all Rambo movies,as for me.
So what not to love about this movie.Clever, witty, offbeat, and imaginative. We can find a million things great things in this movie, but most importantly,in Rambow,we treasured a genius talents in acting, and an upcoming screenwriter and directors, who has a fantastic imagination, and destined to be a movie-genious.Hey, you should really see this!

Big Fish

Rated: (PG-13)
Directed by: Tim Burton
Casts : Ewan McGregor,Albert Finney,Billy Crudup,Jessica Lange,Danny DeVito,Helena Bonham Carter,Marion Cottilard
Genres: Drama
Released: December 10, 2003
THE TAGLINE SAID IT ALL
Burton's Big Fish is a features full of whimsical imaginary creatures and an exquisite tales, which attacks every childlikeness in people's soul, and make it completely believable and truly honest.Big Fish is a amazing adventure also a ride of joy, with it's every magnificent details.
Burton and Elfman, once again, brought a story so impeccable,so everyone can relate to it without feeling ashame nor skeptical to this utterly engaging tales.Big Fish revolves around man's peculiar imagination, which tore down his relationship with his own son.And along with father-son reunionship, the film unravels father's life story, which being so unbelievably fancy, more dreamlike.
The story of Edward Bloom,is more of a pack of grandiose extravaganza than a biopic tales. And similar like all Burton's movie, this film packed with wonderful scenes, and poetic string of scores.
And despite all the fanciness of this movie,I discovered more, the true essence of this story.Big Fish is a story of a family, not so filled with trust, and how they can ended up with trusting one another, and how's story so unbelievable can be a story of man's life. The true essence of this movie is about believing dreams, the same way with Will Bloom, who discovered his dad's dreams lies within a true stories.
Big Fish is is an embodiment of man's life story, whether fact or fiction. With magical illumination spread along the way,but in the end,all we got to do,is just believe.Big Fish is a movie larger than the story itself,a standing ovation for Burton and his amazing talents behind or in front-of the camera.
Warm.Dazzling.Captivating yet so enchanting, without questioning the intellegence of the audience.BRILLIANT!
A man tells his stories so many times that he becomes the stories. They live on after him, and in that way he becomes immortal.

A very very very enchanting tales from Tim Burton.

Sex and the City
by MarvinDirected by : Michael Patrick King Casts : Sarah Jessica Parker,Kim Catrall,Cynthia Nixon,Kristin Davis
Genres : Romantic,Comedy
Theatrical version of the television series based on Candace Bushnell's book "Sex and the City," which chronicles the sexy exploits of New Yorkers. After moving in together in an impossibly beautiful New York apartment, Carrie Bradshaw and Mr. Big make a rather arbitrary decision to get married. The wedding itself proves to be anything but a hasty affair--the guest list quickly blooms from 75 to 200 guests, and Carrie's simple, label-less wedding gown gives way to an enormous creation that makes her look like a gigantic cream puff. An upcoming photo spread in Vogue puts the event--which will take place at the New York Public Library--squarely in the public eye. Meanwhile, Carrie's girlfriends--Samantha, the sexpot; Charlotte, the sweet naïf; and Miranda, the rigid perfectionist--could not be happier. At least, they couldn't be happier for Carrie. Charlotte still has the unrealized hope of getting pregnant. Samantha is finding a loving, committed relationship more grueling than she could have imagined. Miranda unwittingly lets her own unhappiness--created when Steve admits to cheating on her just once--spoil Carrie's. After a heated encounter with Steve, she happens to spot Mr. Big and tells him he's crazy to get married. She's really only thinking of her own marriage. But her angry remark gets Mr. Big to thinking.
A HIT CINEMA SHOW!
It's not much to say, when it comes to my beloved characters on the TV screen, and SATC:The Movie put an icing on the cake for the series itself. As always,The SATC girls are never losing out their fun.And in the movie,we can find all we wanted,an always adorable narration,a fast-witty script, and it's irresistible clothes.
For the fan,it certainly was a magnificent treat from the TV show, and for the non-believer,it still clearly a perfect romantic comedy.
1
The script, hands down.Michael Patrick King is actually has a story to tell. He's throwing a grand homage to the TV show,by writing it's inescapable great script, and few brilliant lines. The script was a knock-out hit from the movie, certainly.
2
In terms of story development,SATC:The Movie was a complete reminiscing experience back in the old days. The story was utterly fresh and the narrative by Sarah Jessica Parker is still remains adorable and heartwarming.
3
What more entertaining for the fans than watching all four girls re-team in one frame again?Despite all the exhaustion it took to bring back all the girls,Carrie,Miranda,Charlotte, and Samantha are back in their best shape ever. With Patricia Field and New York's Backdrop,I can't imagine anything that more delicious.
4
Watching SEX & The City : The Movie is like watching 3 episodes back to back, which is the best way to entertain fans. What's more exciting than see 3 episodes, with large screen and dolby surround sound.
So,after four years gap,is Sex & The City : The Movie worth to buy?The answer is YES!The Movie revisited all the old school charm, has vast character development, and even more flashy clothes, and panorama. We want it,then they gave it the best.
"It's the last single girl kiss. "
Carrie BradshawYes,for some of you,it's a complete mediocre, but for the fans of the show, this is a MASTERPIECE!

Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
by Marvin
Never Forget.Never Forgive
Rated: (R)
Directed by: : Tim Burton
Genres: : Mystery & Suspense, Drama, Musical & Performing Arts
Released: : December 21, 2007
DVD Released: : April 1, 2008
A BLOODY DARK REVENGE STORY,MASTERPIECE IN VISUAL ENCHANTMENT,AS WELL AS IN CUTTING-THROAT AND BAKING HUMAN PIE!
Sweeney Todd : The Demon Barber of Fleet Street probably is the musical that didn't occur any gay dancing numbers at all, otherwise,Sweeney Todd is a musical contains explicit exposure of brutality, and massive amount of blood.
Burton's theatrical drawing on the old London is the most breathtaking one, after Luhrman's Moulin Rouge.Burton personified London into this utterly dark industrial vibe-town,along with Burton's essential style, which means magnificent cinematography, and super-lavish production set.
With Sweeney Todd,Tim Burton has officially conquered the world of musical, with his own impersonation.Sweeney Todd, played by Johnny Depp,is an essential Tim Burton character.Dark, gritty, and haunting. And with Depp's touch,Sweeney Todd is never running out of his charisma.Depp's astounding impersonation of Todd, goes along with the supporting casts.
Helena Bonham-Carter,as Mrs.Lovett,in the other hand,is a cleansweep, emphatizing Lovett with a really dark vibe to it.Along with Sacha Baron Cohen and Alan Rickman, they make a solid supporting lineup.
With archievements from every degree,is it too excessive to say that Sweeney Todd is the best musical of all time?Probably yes.But for sure,Burton has served us the musical masterpiece that we've been waiting for,a very dark masterwork, that set a musical to the most haunting.A haunting, and extremely terrorizing musical yet a larger than life work of art for it's extraordinary visual wonderment, and it's dazzling numbers.
They all deserve to die. Tell you why, Mrs. Lovett, tell you why! Because in all of the whole human race, Mrs. Lovett, there are two kinds of men and only two. There's the one staying put in his proper place and one with his foot in the other one's face. Look at me, Mrs Lovett! Look at you! No, we all deserve to die... Even you, Mrs Lovett, even I! Because the lives of the wicked should be made brief. For the rest of us death will be a relief. We all deserve to die... And I'll never see Johanna, no I'll never hug my girl to me... FINISHED!

Marie Antoinette
by Marvin
Directed by : Sofia Coppola
Casts : Kirsten Dunst,Jason Schwartzman,Asia Argento,Rose Bryne,Rip Torn
Genres : Drama
Release Date : October 20, 2006
AS EXTRAVAGANT AS SHE IS,A PROPER BIOPIC FOR WORLD'S QUEEN OF STYLE !
Marie Antoinette is known for her symbolization of the word "Extravagant",and this movie put the capital E in that word.
Marie Antoinette is a medieval tale of teenage fragility, and adolescent juvenile. And with Sofia Coppola's directing,Marie Antoinette never lost a moment of never-ending loneliness, and it's charm in terms of lavish clothes, and ultimately,it's ravishing period set.
Coppola's portrayal of this teen-queen,is close to perfection.Kirsten,Dunst,as the title role, did her role perfectly,as a fragile teenager who trapped in the boredom of formality, and dysfunctional marriage. In the hands of Dunst,Marie Antoinette,is a brittle queen.Kirsten Dunst's done it with flair, and high sense of self-indulgent.
With few lines and lead actors,Coppola manages to translate the story with irresistable score, magnificent production set, poise graphic, and beautiful shots.Allowed the complete access of Versailles, and it's formal routine, the film portrayed Marie Antoinette as glamorous and as delicious as it can be.While,Marie Antoinette rocking those shoes, and trying on her new wigs, greatly mixed Aaron Carter's "I Want Candy" played in the background.Added a spoon of sugar in this historic tale, brilliant!
Afterall,it's charm and it's gigantic audio-visual archievement, set Marie Antoinette apart from other biopic. The most extravagant biopic ever,a brilliant mix of pop-culture and historical period piece, with extremely sweet food and couture!
Remember you represent the future and nothing is certain about your place there until the final physical act to crown the Franco-Austrian alliance is performed.

Mamma Mia!
by Marvin
A mother. A daughter. Three possible fathers. Take a trip down the aisle you'll never forget.
Directed by: Phyllida Lloyd
Genres: Romance, Musical & Performing Arts, Comedy
Released: June 30, 2008
Casts : Meryl Streep,Amanda Seyfried,Colin Firth,Pierce Brosnan,Christine Baranski,Julie Walters
DREAMY,CREAMY,AND STUFFED WITH WONDERS.
My love for the musical has grew since the day I knew Sound of Music or later Moulin Rouge, and I incidentally get used to a musical with magnificent visual treat, and glamour set,as we can see in all musical in this era. This year,Mamma Mia came with all settled down capacity, and numbering songs from probably the guiltiest pleasure of all-time,ABBA.
MammaMia,is set to be a guilty pleasure, not a quality movie, but turned out to be a sensation for our earbud with greatly mixed ABBA numbers, and surprisingly great casts.
What Make Mamma Mia! So Great?
1
ABBA,who used to be our parents guiltiest guilty pleasure ( More than Britney Spears and Ricky Martin really!),merely turned the cinema down, with their all-time hits, like beautifully choreographed Dancing Queen, and The Dynamos' Super Trouper.
2
The superview of Greek panorama.First timer,Phylidda LLoyd, made Greece into one embodiment of the numbers and background for every songs, with magnificent visual flair, and please note, that glittery ocean.
3
THE WINNER TAKES IT ALL,yes,no one in the cinema barely knew this song, and it took our hearts by storm,Meryl Streep shone in this heart-wrenching song, and fully appealed her charisma into a full-circle.
4
The Casting.Nothing more wonderous than the full-lineups of comedians and actors afterall.Beside Meryl Streep's,Pierce Brosnan who take the lead, drop the audiences' jaws with his " I can sing" performance.Amanda Seyfried,is magnificent,as well as other lineups, like Colin Firth, and Stellan Saarsgard. While,Christine Baranski and Julie Walters conquered their role, with their comedic interpretation of their characters. At the end,the casts really overkilled their role.
MammaMia appealed the audience, with all their shotfire, and gunned down ABBA's song, with great music, and beautiful flair.MammaMia is in a full bloom.
The 360 - Spin
MammaMia,is musical of the year. And Amanda Seyfired officially not Karen from Mean Girls, but Sophie from MammaMia.Yay!
NOTE - Dont miss " I Have A Dream",the most magical track from the movie, beside Meryl Streep's "Winner Takes It All".Hey, you should really see this!

Burn After Reading
by Adam"Fargo" sits high up on my all time favorite list and the Coen's have not made anything close to the quality of it until "No Country" came out. That came close, but it didn't quite reach the level of originality of "Fargo". The advertisements for "Burn After Reading" didn't look to me like it would be the Coen's next "Fargo". It did however look like it was going to be one of their most fun and darkly funny films yet and being a big fan of the guys I was pretty excited to go and see it. I did not get exactly what I was expecting, nor did many of the folks in my theater.
The direction from the two brothers is a mixed bag. On one hand you've got a few golden scenes, but on the other you've got a ton that fall totally flat and that just aren't very funny at all. You expect the movie to be hectic and crazy, but what I personally didn't expect was for the tone of the film to be so darn serious for the most part. Some of the only funny scenes in the trailer such as many of the scenes with Pitt and maybe a couple Malkovich out bursts were quite hilarious as well (although not much of the insane amount of foul language was shown in the trailer. The film actually was quite disturbing in a few places and it jsut didn't seem like the brothers achieved exactly the feeling they were looking for throughout the film. It just doesn't work like "Fargo" did. You hate all the characters in the film except Pitt Select the black box below with your cursor to view the spoiler text
(and he dies about 45 minutes before the movie is over and probably has about 20 minutes of screen time) because they're all cold bastards and if they aren't cheating on somebody then they're doing stupid desperate things, ala McDormand's character. I suppose the parts of the film that seemed to work best were any of the J.K. Simmons conversations. They are hilarious and seem to absolutely achieve the level of laugh factor you would've expected from a decent amount of the film that you really only get in a couple scenes.
The acting is pretty solid despite what I might say about the film. Malkovich could probably be considered the character the story seems to kind of revolve around, although I wouldn't say there is any one single main character and there are many perspective changes which also was a bit of a throw off, and not in a decidedly interesting way like in "No Country". I'd say Clooney seems very oddly awkward in some of his scenes and personally I didn't really like that. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Tilda Swinton does what she needs to do, but thats not much besides be a cold hearted ***** of a middle aged woman. McDormand is kind of sweet but also really far too stupid to really make her a character you can really empathize with or connect with. It doesn't have that Marge escape or connect factor that "Fargo" had. Pitt is quite naive and stupid but he's also very likeable and you don't really get frustrated by his characters actions. His character arch is very believable and he's the one I could at least sympathize with out of the bunch. Malkovich also follows a very realistic character arch and to a certain extent you can sympathize with him. His performance is very solid and he does what he needs to do, but once again, you kind of hate his character by the end of the movie. Richard Jenkins is probably the saddest of the bunch. You feel awful for the guy and he's the probably the nicest character in the film. He seems to know the risks he takes when he takes them, but he's treated terribly and it just didn't play very well at all.
The Coen's have always been very meticulous about their writing and their scripts being followed pretty much exactly while on set. They don't like to change lines or letters or anything really and they make sure their scripts are absolutely perfect before they get on set. This is not one of their best efforts. I think I pretty much stated all the script issues in the previous two paragraphs though. The characters suck and just don't work well together, and the audience really can't identify with many of them, and none of them offer any kind of escape from the films really nasty and odd sections. It seems that the whole point of the entire movie was that if you're middle aged and married you're relationship probably sucks and you and your spouse both cheat, and if you're unmarried you really want to find someone, but they're likely cheating on their wife or husband while they're with you. I honestly can't say I took away much more from this movie than that. This film is so negative and odd that it really makes you wonder how the Coen's are doing in their own relationships.
Still, I honestly can say that about 20 minutes of this film are totally awesome. There are a few scenes that are infuriating to me because they just didn't work the way they were edited or shot. Something was off during any scenes that were supposed to be darkly funny but ended up being really kind of disturbing and pretty unfunny to say the least. I don't know how anyone could consider this a straight up comedy. I laughed over the course of the film about as many times, maybe a couple more, than I did throughout the entirity of "No Country". So in conclusion "Burn After Reading" is a film that really throws you off in all kinds of bad ways and doesn't have many redeeming, entertaining, or informative qualities to say the least. I wouldn't say this is a hateable film, but its not a very likeable one.
3.5/10I'm sorry to say that I'm going to have to tell you all to stay away from this one. The new Coen Bros. movie is not up to par with their others...

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
by Marvin
Directed by: Nicholas Stoller
Casts : Jason Segel,Kristin Bell,Mila Kunis,Paul Rudd,Bill Hader,Russell Brand
FOR THOSE WHO HAVEN'T SEE TROPIC THUNDER,YOU MAY CONSIDER THIS !
Forgetting Sarah marshall actually an ultimate geek show, without any exaggeration.Jason Segel, who surprisingly gifted with wit, made a script so quickly-sharp,and didn't reprise any sexism nor over-dramatic bullshits.
To say that FSM is the Judd Apatow's best isn't too surprising,or maybe, yes it is.Not compiled with any frat pack this time,Forgetting sarah Marshall gave a refreshing comedy yet with offbeat hit rhytm.
Despite it's archievement to bring an at least fresh comedy,FSM not entirely neglected the drama,Forgetting Sarah Marshall is not only a hit comic show, but also a sweet reminiscing to such a cliche break-up tale.
Jason Segel, the lead actor, permanently delivered hit by hit,as well as many moments. While the loser trophy goes to Miss Sarah Marshall herself,Kristin Bell failed to bring up barely a moment, even her appearance in the "Crime Scene",isn't worthlaughing at all.As for the rest of the casts, they succeeded to pump up some energy to the movie.
At the end,we found FSM as a standart feature,or a simple movie who fulfilled the lacks of any other movie in the same genre, and at last,we know that Judd Apatow still a fersatile producer.Forgetting Sarah Marshall is funny, and most importantly,it is actually quite clever.
The 360 Spin
Surely a hit comedy.Clever, intriguing, quite disturbing, energetic, and extremely raw.And the acting,is unbelievable, even for the stiff-queen like Kristin Bell.Hey, you should really see this!
