Joy Ride (Road Kill)
R
A very good modern thriller that has elements from other great thrillers like Duel, The Hitcher. It was enjoyable and will have you on the edge of your seat at times.
Ginger Snaps
R
A very cool modern take on the werewolf genre. Mixing in a lot of teenage angst as well, the young cast do very well and the werewolf effects are very good.
Cheerleader Camp
R
A very poor slasher film from the late 80's. It's so cheesey and is more of a comedy than a horror of any sort. A similar film more recently made is Cheerleader Massacre, which is a lot better!
Pure fun B-movie action/horror. Won't win any Oscars but an entertaining film with pretty good SFX.
Shower of Blood
Unrated
Over the top comedy horror, not sure if it was supposed to be. Very low budget with lots of girls in showers, obviously!

3.
The Ring

A good horror film with a cool concept. Very creepy and a bit strange but it has a good mix of everything and is one of my fave horrors!

A great mix of humour, action and adventure. It has a strong cast and cool SFX too. The Indianna Jones film's for the next generation in a way. A brilliant blockbuster of a film!

I havn't seen much lately :(
Been so busy with work. I watched 5ive lives on dvd. It was ok, but not great. As far as witchy movies go, I think I preferred The Craft. Rewatched Ginger Snaps the other day, the werewolf movie which I've always liked. At the pics, I want to go and see Shutter, Prince Caspian and of course Indiana Jones!!!!posted 2 days ago -
wrong turn was very good but this as got none of the ornigal cast in so I might give it a miss thanks for the recommentions keep them comin

Untraceable
by ♥LisaReally Cool flick I liked this one.Yeah it smelled a little predictible here and there but who cares? The twisted concept of this movie was like a weird cross between Se7en and The Saw movies, so if you like either of those or both you will most likely love this.Intense at times I did enjoy this movie.I am recommending this one.=)

Atonement
by GaryAfter hearing a few less than glowing reviews I was a bit jubious about this one, but it turned out to be pretty beautiful. An epic love story with some beautiful cinematography and solid acting throughout. Tragic and endearing in a very British way. Perhaps overrated and the sneaky ending was a very dirty trick, but the hopeless romantic in me saw past all that. And the Dunkirk scene.... WOW! Briony truly deserves to be one of the most hated characters in recent movie history. Wish I'd read the book first.
The Oscar contender that couldn't is actually a pretty amazing little British film that turns ageing romantics like me to mush.
More hardened viewers may find themselves looking at their watches alot.... Up to you!posted 3 days ago -

Street Kings (The Night Watchman)
by ThelmaThis is a gritty cop action movie with lots of twists and turns. There are good and bad cops but you need to keep alert to figure out who's on which side. Good cast and good plot. This movie reminds me of 'The Shield'.

Iron Man
by ♥LisaJust got back! What a ride! My youngest said he liked it better than Transformers. This was very cool.I agree with all of you You must see this in the theater if nothing else for the sound.I am such a THX/digital sound geek. But there are parts like when he breaks the sound barrier that you are just not going to get in your living room.Awesome movie start to finish.Robert Downey Jr was amazing as was Gwyneth, and I think I love every role Terrence Howard has ever played.Dam Jeff Bridges plays a great bad guy too.Great stuff here people alot of amazing visual effects to be appreciated here,When he starts getting familiar with the suit for the first time and first flight its like well an Eyegasm.Very cool stuff! 5 stars. Two thumbs up, whatever you want it to be just go see it.In the Theater! =)

Halloween (2007)
by GaryRob Zombies "remagining" of the classic horror is a little hard for me to review as I'm a little torn on the idea. The bastardisation of the brilliant original and insistence on explaining why Mike is the nutjob he is, is hard to swallow. Why not just make an original horror? In saying that, Zombie had made a damned entertaining movie. It's scary, violent and well shot when compared to other recent horrors. While the original was eerie and tense, this is brutal and terrifying. Film purists may dislike it's existence, but it is undeniably entertaining.
Heres one to divide audiences.
Think what you may of the "reimagining", it's a damned scary romp. Probably better if you haven't seen the original.posted 15 days ago -

Pieces
by AmandaThis unintentionally-hilarious nugget of badly-dubbed exploitation serves the best opening scene I've ever witnessed for explaining why kids grow up to become heavy-breathing, fedora-and-trenchcoat-wearing, chainsaw-wielding psychos. Child abuse, you immediately ask? Nah, that's so American. This 8-year old Spaniard falls off his rocker when Mommy discovers his stash of porn mags hidden inside his toybox and burns them...right in front of him! (I are not making this up.) In a sweat-inducing situation like that, how would you react? Well, this young 'un serves cold justice by sticking an axe in her head because...that's what sexually-repressed 8 year-old Eurotrash do. And away we go, kiddies. Flashforward to 1983 and a typical college campus where someone's chain-sawing the curvy co-eds, taking certain pieces and leaving the rest for the cops to trip over. Yes, Pieces definitively proves no amount of artsy mise-en-scene can overshadow the adrenaline rush of a good chainsaw killing. It's got tons of nudity, very graphic violence and gore. And best of all, absolutely no socially redeeming value whatsoever. Be forewarned, this movie also has the most deranged use of the word bastard in film history as undercover cop (and tennis champ!) Linda Day-George pulls out ALL her acting skills and screams the word 4 times in frustration because she was too busy turning down loud music to hear the nut-bag carving a victim in the very next room! Oh, and I loved the scene where the killer follows a half-naked coed onto an elevator while hiding a two-foot, 60-pound chainsaw...behind his back. And the scene involving a skateboarding disco bunny. And the gratuitous disco aerobics workout. And the school's crazy Kung-Fu instructor who kicks the gun from Linda's hand, knocks her to the ground, and then admits he had no reason for attacking her except...he ate some bad Chop Suey. (Again, I am not making this up, really.) Boys and Girls, ask anyone, you cannot put a price tag on this kind of entertainment. As the film's tagline once screamed, `You Don't Have To Go To Texas For A Chainsaw Massacre! It's Exactly What You Think!' Director Juan Piquer Simon, I ask you, `Where is your Thalberg Award?!'

Deception
by ThelmaGreat cast and plot. Jonathan (Ewan) is an auditor who wants a more exciting and fulfilling life. He meets Wyatt (Hugh) a conman who befriends Jonathan and introduces him to the high life. Things turn nasty when Wyatt threatens to kill Jonathan's crush (Michelle) unless he helps him steal 20 million dollars. The pace is good throughout the movie but the ending did not live up to the rest of the movie.

Forgetting Sarah Marshall
by LisaI think it appropriate to state that I am a huge fan of Russell Brand's work. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to write a completely objective review about his first major film role. I am therefore happy to report that even with the biased attitude, I actually thought this film was very good. I don't have to lie about any of the performances or the plot. It was as good as could be expected. I think that what I just said will undermine what I am going to say now, which is that Russell Brand really was the star of the film. He was truly the funniest character in the film with all the best lines and probably the character that made me laugh hardest. I loved that the character was very similar to that of the real Russell Brand. Being a recovering drugs user meant that he brought a lot to the character. The rest of the cast were pretty good as well. Kristen Bell fitted her character very well also. Jason Segal played the pathetic but lovable boyfriend very well. The smaller roles were all very memorable, with Paul Rudd and Jonah Hill finishing the whole cast off nicely. Overall a really decent film and it really stands up despite my love of Russell Brand, he just makes it that little bit more enjoyable.

Death Sentence
by BrockKevin Bacon goes ballistic in this film!! Every parents worse nightmare comes true when his son is struck down in a gangland killing in front of his own eyes. Typical revenge type killing film but the transformation from executive to killing machine is a little to much for me to buy into, but i will give Bacon his kudos cause hes such a brilliant actor and can easily play both roles but in one film its a little over the top. Still don't let that get in the road of a pretty good film with a lot of violence towards the end - which i like!!!
Hey, you should really see this for Kevin Bacon alone - hes such a good actor in my book!
