A decent slow paced thriller, more of a detective story really. It has a great cast Gene Hackman, Susan Sarandon, Paul Newman and a very early, memorable role for Reese Witherspoon. If you like detective stories and a plot with a slight twist you might like this, but it could do with a bit more action at least. It seems to have slipped by most people but it's worth a watch if it's on.
A really great horror film, made apparently just months after the Spanish original Rec. What I don't understand is so many people saying this is not as good? It's almost the same film scene for scene, but with a different cast and set in LA. Only changes from the original are a few more attacks and the origin of the virus was changed slightly. The only real problem if you have seen the original first is you know what is coming and when second time round so less scary. Otherwise almost a carbon copy of the original but in English. Watch out for Rec2!
Really surprised at so many high ratings for this? It has turned into a comedy now and almost makes fun of its self in the process. Definitely not scary, not that many kills or gore in this one either. One for fans really, I enjoyed the first one the most. This is maybe the 3rd best of the first four films, but it is the funniest.
A very solid boxing film set in prison. Almost seems to be aimed at one World heavy weight champ in the real world! The boxing scenes are done very well, but the build up isn't as good as say the better Rocky films. Not a bad effort and worth watching when it's on.
A so-so horror comedy with a good array of UK acting talent on show. Ok in parts has some funny scenes and quite gory to in places. Overall just not quite as polished as Severance, Shaun of the dead. One mainly for the guys.
Probably the best film of its type. I have seen a few films that were based around avoiding a huge Croc in perilous circumstances. Some had really bad effects like Crocodile, or just plain cheesey like Lake Placid 2, Blood Surf. This was more like another film called Black water. I found this more interesting though and the Crocodile looks more believable. Worth checking out.
I thought this was a good conspiracy action/ thriller with a good cast. It's a very entertaining film with a good plot, it's enjoyable watching all the plot lines unfold and the connections made to take them on to the next lead. The film is shot in many locations including New York, Milan, Turkey and almost has a slight Bond, Bourne ultimatum feel to it. The shoot out at the Guggenheim gallery in New York has been one of the best I've seen since Heat. A solid well made film that should appeal to action, thriller fans or fans of the similar films mentioned.
An ok 3rd installment, although straight to DVD release. Lower budget but the production is pretty good, but it's just not as creepy as the first two. The boy that appears at times was weird in the first two in this it looks like an older actor was used. The same goes for Kayako, in the first two she was very strange and creepy in this she just looks very white? For those who really liked the first two films.
A surprisingly good part animated comedy based on the Garfield comic strip. I liked this one more than the first one. This has plenty of other animals being voiced over by a range of well known actors including Bob Hoskins as a British bulldog and Vinnie Jones as a rottweiler, what else? With Bill Murray voicing Garfield. Perfect for kids and older fans of Garfield.
A pretty decent low budget Scottish film. The idea is similar to Hard target, but minus the martial arts and this time given an urban setting. Two young rich men hunt down the lower classes desperate for money in a game of hide and seek. The plot can be a bit odd at times but it's a entertaining watch.
Another interpretation of Invasion of the body snatchers. This was an ok thriller, well made with a good cast. It just lacks any real punch, it's not tense, gripping or scary in any way. A missed opportunity really. I'd recommend The Faculty instead as that is a much more fun film, also influenced by the body snatchers.
A decent romantic comedy, life drama film. Two friends take a trip around some vineyards for wine tasting on a stag do week. Along the way they find out quite a lot about themselves. Pretty funny in places, a decent film.
A funny film set in 70's Manchester as a Pakistani family have a culture clash between the parents and kids over traditional Muslim values and English culture. Not quite as funny as I thought it would be, quite serious towards the end but it was still funny see the kids trying to out smart their father. A lot of familiar faces from English TV star in this.
A very average thriller that is quite slow at times. Lacking a lot of action and suspense. It's starting to look quite dated now and I think I got it mixed up with Presumed innocent, also starring Harrison Ford, which is a much better thriller as I recall.
Yes it's an in your face rude, crude teen sex comedy with a lot of nudity. If you're easy offended then you will be. It's pretty funny in places and just silly in others. However it comes across as a fun film that the cast enjoyed making. The unrated version of the film is quite odd to, as the director will tell you! Not quite up there with American Pie, Euro Trip etc but it should still cause quite a few laughs. That sure is an awesome car to!
No doubt a well made film and with great cinematography. However it was a little confusing at times to follow the story and who were friends and who were enemies. The big disappointment for me was I had expected something along the lines of Hero or House of flying daggers. Unfortunately this is a different type of film altogether and barely has any fight scenes, and when there are they are a blur. Definitely more of a drama than a martial arts film.
A decent enough comedy about living the same day over and over. Cool idea although the repetition does grate after a while. If you're a fan of Bill Murray and Harold Ramis comedies this is for you.
A brilliant modern day zombie film. Not seen the original yet, but this has the same appeal as 28 days later. A great cast, modern take on the genre with good gory effects. Well worth checking out.
A very well made film and interesting idea. I just felt it was a bit too drawn out and didn't have the impact of something like Crash. Good story but might not be for everyone.
I thought this was a pretty decent light hearted, sexy, crime thriller. More of a heist film to be honest. it's fun seeing how they did it, if the cops can figure it out and if he can get away with it. Strong cast and a well put together film overall.
I've been meaning to watch this for ages and glad I finally got round to it. I always remember the poster for it looking pretty good. Considered a cult classic this is a fun 80's tongue in cheek horror. The make up effects towards the end were pretty good considering it was made in 1985! A fun enjoyable horror worth checking out.
Quite funny but seemed to just reload a lot of the best stuff from the first and it's not as funny second time round. Still has plenty of good moments but not as good as the first I thought.
A pretty decent crime thriller with a strong cast. Not a lot of action but I thought it was a good story with some decent plot twists. In some elements it is like the usual suspects in the way the story unfolds with quite a few red herrings along the way. An enjoyable film that seemed to slip under the radar.
