Unbelievable how great this movie is. It is at the same time a drama, war movie, period film, ghost story, and love story. The great Machiko Kyo gives a phenomenal performance in this movie (and so does the rest of the cast). Its sad that this movie is unknown and unwatched by virtually everyone. The most beautiful film ever made, this movie should be seen by EVERYONE who claims to be a movie lover.

This movie is so amazing that calling it one of the greatest films of all time has become very cliched. . Not one minute of the 3 hour running time is boring or dull. Inspired many films to follow (in particular The Magnificent Seven) but none came even close. The Seven Samurai is the reigning film in Japanese cinema and in Kurosawa's entire career (and thats saying a lot because he made many of the greatest films of all time).
