| Perfume: The Story of a Murderer - R |
"There was only one thing the perfume could not do. It could not turn him into a person who could love and be loved like everyone else." This film initially held my interest with it's murderous tale of Jean-Baptiste Grenouille's (Ben Whishaw) obsession to capture the scent of beautiful young women. As the story progressed though, some scenes started to border on silly. The worst of all was the ending, which made me wonder why I sat through the entire film for it to be summed up in such a way. LOL Perfume was entertaining but nothing more. |

| The Machinist - R |
If you were any thinner, you wouldn't exist" The Machinist, starring Christian Bale as a guilt-ridden insomniac stuck in a living nightmare, unfolds in such an intelligent manner that you feel trapped along with him. His emaciated, litheless body is so disturbing that it adds to the feeling that the film evokes. Unlike other films, this one satisfies the viewer with the conclusion, and the horror of it all finally makes sense. Great performance from Bale. Although a strange film, this one makes my favorite list. |

| Killshot - R |
"You gotta know what you're doing when you go in. You gotta have it figured out. Don't hang around. Don't get interested..." Well I was interested briefly, but Killshot, directed by John Madden couldn't hold my interest. The plot was kind of hokey pokey. You sort of care about this couple Carmen & Wayne (Lane & Jane) who end up in the Witness Protection program, but you don't. You can predict pretty much everything that Blackbird's (Rourke) sidekick (Levitt) will do. Actually most of the film is predictable. Diane Lane gave a good performance, but I was mostly impressed with Mickey Rourke. It gets 3 stars for him. He's got chops in this one for sure. It was just too bad that the screenplay sucked. |

| Wendy and Lucy - R |
Michelle Williams gives a solid but understated performance in the role of Wendy, a woman whose plans fall apart when her car breaks down in a small town on her way to Alaska. Lucy the dog, was a gem. This is a quiet and lazy paced film. I was hoping that it would evoke more emotion but it just wasn't there for me. |

| The Legend of Lucy Keyes - Unrated |
This part true, part ghost story is a weak drama that tried to be a thriller but didn't make it out of the gate. Although the Legend of Lucy Keyes is an interesting tale, it's probably better told around a camp fire instead of on film. ;) |

| Blindness - R |
It is an interesting concept for a film so I was looking forward to it, however, I was disappointed. Blindness began fairly solid and then the white haze started to take over, and the pace of the movie dragged. Somewhere something went wrong and film disconnected with the audience. I'm sure everyone gets the moral message in the end, but it wasn't worth the watch. This was an instance where I wish I had read the book instead. ;) |

| Sunshine Cleaning - R |
I wasn't interested in this film until I had read some of my Flix friend's reviews. Sunshine Cleaning is a refreshing story that tugs on your heart strings, and can make you smile. Amy Adams, Emily Blunt and Alan Arkin brought a lot of charm to this peculiar indie flick. "There's not a lot that I am good at. But I'm good at getting guys to want me. Not date me, or marry me, but want me." |
