A fairly good sci-fi flick that had me completely hooked in the begining...the rest of the film was a bit of a let down, but I still managed to enjoy most of it.
While there were a few funny moments in this film, it was not very good. You will laugh at a few one-liners and smirk at a couple of scenes, but in terms of a great plot mixed with perfect comedic timing, this film just doesn't make it there.
This film filled me with disappointment mainly becasue the story in gerenal had a very depressing and dark tone to it. There was no real hero/heroine, no redemdtion for the those who were wronged and no real closure to the lives of the characters. The story is about a young immigrant who sneaks himself into New York with the hopes of finding his father. Unfortuanly he arrives there with no money and no possessions as his belongings were stolen by another immigrant who planned to pose as the young man and claim whatever riches his father may have. The film moves from on disheartening event to another and there is no way you can walk away from this film feeling good.
While the movie had some nice visual affects, the overall plot was completely nonsensical. The premise of the film was about a Nun who was supposed to be sadistic and abusive towards a group of young girls in a Boarding school. The Nun disappears and years later, the women are haunted by her and one by one, they end up dead. The problem is that the Nun didn't come off as sadistic and abusive as the writer/directer intended. They failed to show just how evil and crazy this Nun was and offered a trite and contrived motivation behind the Nun's behavior. It just didn't deliver.
A very interesting film about the connections that unknowingly develop between people. It had an intriguing although sometimes confusing story line, but it was filled with passion, sensuality and mystery.
A wonderfully interwoven, multi-layered story unlike most superhero films, in my opinion. It was well-done and well developed. It held my interest until the very end.
