About Me

Hiya,

Some of you may have know me on my previous Flixster account (pirateXgirlXclaudia) which was somehow deleted. Remember the Jack Sparrow icon with my username appearing? That's me. I've tried to get the account retrieved but haven't had any luck, so I've decided to start fresh with this new account.

But incase you don't know me - I'll say a little about myself. As you may have guessed (or, should I say.. looked above) my name is Claudia. But I am also known as 'Claud', 'Claudz' and 'PG'. I'm just an Aussie girl who happens to love movies and everything Johnny Depp related. I have a severe case of JDOCD (Johnny Depp Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), and I have seen almost every one of Johnny Depp's films (with the exception of ones almost impossible for me to find and a few others). Johnny is by far the most talented actor out there in my opinion, as well as having looks like no other. If you ask me he is simply amazing beyond words.

I also have another crazy obsession with the most talented director EVER; Tim Burton. He makes the most extraordinary films, and teamed up with Johnny Depp makes them even more impressive. Tim is the wildest, wackiest, most creative and amazing filmmaker in my opinion, and combine that with Johnny's acting talent and complete gorgeousness... you get the unstoppable duo. Oh, and Danny Elfman together with them just makes it even better!

I must also mention on here about my Flixster friends. You know who you are, and you're all amazing and awesome friends. I will particularly mention about a group that I am proud to be a part of on here, The Awesome Threesome. This threesome; all Aussies, includes Ella, Cal and I. We will be the next biggest thing to hit the movies; with Cal directing, Ella writing the screenplay and me assisting the star of our movies.. the one and only, Johnny Depp. Oh and of course Ellen Page will be staring in our flick, too. Just a warning.. be ready for the power of our awesomeness. And I must say that both Cal and Ella are two of the greatest people ever, not to mention awesome. Love you guys!

I currently have left my friend requests open; I'd love to be meeting new people on this account. But be aware that I will not add you if you haven't done basic things on Flixster (such as the MCT, rating movies, reviewing etc.). And please be sure to send me a message before adding me, even just something short to let me know, or you won't be added. But please, please don't become an in-active user on here or become someone on my friends list that never talks, or you will be deleted. I use this site because I love films, so please try and keep in mind that this isn't another myspace-type site.

Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl 1. Pirates of the Caribbean - The Curse of the Black Pearl PG-13 5.0 Stars
Absolutely perfect in every possible way. This is easily my favorite of the series, introducing the best character ever created - Captain Jack Sparrow. It's got comedy, action, adventure, romance and Johnny Depp! The perfect film with an amazing cast and truly unique and original storyline. Jack Sparrow has become like an icon for Johnny Depp, he will always be remembered as the greatest, wildest and most charming pirate ever to make it in a movie. Anyone who hasn't seen this must be crazy!
Edward Scissorhands 2. Edward Scissorhands PG-13 5.0 Stars
This just proves that Johnny Depp and Tim Burton make the most amazing films together. This movie is so sad, wonderful, touching, beautiful... and just perfect. Johnny Depp was so cute and adorable as Edward Scissorhands. This is one of the sweetest and most heartwarming films ever made; I get the greatest feeling every time I watch it. A true masterpiece that will be remembered for years to come. It's no surprise that this is my second favorite movie of all time.
Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street 3. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street R 5.0 Stars
This has to be one of my favourite films ever, no doubt about that. When I first walked into the cinema to see this, I knew I was going to love it.. but I had no idea I would enjoy this film as much as I did. It had that distinctive Tim Burton 'style' to it. Dark, mysterious, eerie, bloody and humorous. You could call this a mixture of genres.. obviously it is a musical, but it's just as much of a horror movie as it is a comedy. Johnny Depp is Sweeney Todd.. the demon barber of Fleet Street. A dark character that comes across as a revenge-seeking, sinister person. All you need to know about this plot is that Sweeney Todd was once locked away from his wife and daughter, and came back to London to seek revenge. After his first killing Mrs Lovett, played by Helena Bonham Carter, suggests using the flesh in meat pies. From then the story unfolds in itself, creating some unexpected plot turns and an outstanding end to this masterpiece. Tim Burton directs one of the greatest movies ever made, making it really his own. Another reason to see this is if you absolutely love Tim's style of movies, you will love Sweeney Todd. Johnny Depp showed yet again how he is one of the best actors of his generation, and has proved to me why he is my all-time favourite actor. This was something completely different for him.. singing. I personally thought he was brilliant, the perfect actor with the perfect voice for Sweeney Todd. Seeing Helena Bonham Carter in this movie has made me admire her a lot more as an actress, she made her character certainly a lot more entertaining than I can imagine anyone else doing. She really made another stand-out performance for me. Alan Rickman was everything you would imagine his character to be, hitting some tunes and bringing a sinister feel to his character. Sacha Baron Cohen provided a couple of entertaining scenes, while Timothy Spall was just as you would imagine him to be. I can't express in words how much I loved this film, but I tried. I would strongly recommend this to anyone, just be prepared that this is a musical. Other than that... enjoy!
A Knight's Tale 4. A Knight's Tale PG-13 5.0 Stars
One of the best films ever made, purely because it is one of the most enjoyable and entertaining films to watch. This was one of the first films, if not the first, of Heath Ledger's movies that I saw. After this movie I completely fell in love with him and his movies, If you ever want to find out what a great actor he is then this is the perfect example. This movie has it all - action, comedy, romance and an all-star cast. 5 stars, 10/10, 100% brilliant!
Charlie and the Chocolate Factory 5. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory PG 5.0 Stars
Yet again Johnny Depp and Tim Burton created one of the best movies ever made, completely different from the original one. I still really liked the 1970s version, but this was just completely amazing to be, easily more enjoyable than the original. Johnny Depp couldn't have aced the role of Willy Wonka any better, the voice.. the look.. yes he may look a little 'different' than he normally does, but you just have to admire his extraordinary talent for making this film highly enjoyable.
The Shawshank Redemption 6. The Shawshank Redemption R 5.0 Stars
This movie is absolutely amazing! I would give it 10 stars if i could! The story is very powerful and unlike any other that I have seen before. Watching this should make you feel sad, but the ending leaves you with a really nice feeling. It really is all about hope, redemption and freedom. The cast were perfect for their roles, especially the two main characters played by Tim Robbins and Morgan Freeman. Overall this is one of the best movies I have ever seen! Definitely one of my faves!

Sad.... VERY VERY sad. Terribly heart-wrencingly sad. But inspirational too. I agree with the press when i say that Cameron Diaz gave one of the best performances of her life.

Abigal Breslin and Sofia Vassilieva gave wonderfully hilarious, tear-jerking, dramatic, and lovable jobs. They acted amazingly. They did so perfectlly you believed every word out of the mouths and every action.

The rest of the cast (mostly the three other males including the family and Alec Baldwin's character) were wonderfully portrayed but didn't stand out like lime green on black. They were more of a dark green that was present but not eye-catchingly obvious.

The sets, costumes, ESPECAILLY make-up, script, and direction were all wonderful.
If you think you know the ending because of the book... well I won't say more (WINK WINK)

    RATED PG-13 for:
violence including vomit, blood, and bruises, also hospital scenes may be scary to younger children.
    Language
Some sexual content (Mostly just kissing but one scene of moderate sensuality.)

It was a beautiful movie with a stunning cast, great script, oustanding direction, and a perfect plot. The truth of the matter is it doesn't make sense until the absolute last half an hour of the movie. But if you don't ask question and have a keen eye for detail you can get this movie in no time the second it's done. But take it from me-- PAY ATTENTION AND DON'T RUSH THE MOVIE. It all folds out at the end. and boy is it a good ending. It was a very inspirational and sad movie but it was also sweet and romantic. And please at the begining with Ezra please don't think Will Smith's a jerk just wait. (:

    It was rated PG-13 for:
    Mild/Moderate Sensuality
    MIld Gore/Violence
    and mild Language

not the fairytale you know or love, more inspired id say, you certainly can see the storys influence, a young man has a car crash, and ends up at this house in the woods, and once meeting the seeminly perfect family, cant get away, he tries, but the forest traps him in, and theres more to family than meets the eye, a great little chiller from the east, some nice touches and moments, and great performances, especially the three kids vital to story, it looks great, very tim burton at times

Having only seen Jackson's most recent work, I wasn't sure what to expect - though I certainly wasn't expecting a completely (COMPLETELY!) fucking insane splatter-gore movie. Yet he doesn't stop there, he also manages to tuck in a solid plot and strong characters. It's shot brilliantly, with a real frenetic energy and manages to be both horrifying (the dinner-table scenes) and hilarious (the park scene). Even on top of that, the gore and horror is really inventive and consistently surprising with some terrific use of puppets and stop-motion. For 90 minutes Peter Jackson is let loose and the film is all the better for it.

Utterly captivating 'best picture' winner from the ultra-talented and incredibly versatile Danny Boyle. The clever storytelling style and touching performances from a cast of unknowns draws you in from the beginning and never lets go. The powerful message of the pricelessness of life experience (no matter how harsh) really hits home and the loyalty displayed by the lead character is nothing short of trul endearing. Highly recommended viewing to anyone and everyone. A visionary work from Boyle.

This is a suspenseful story, part science fiction, part thriller, which will challenge viewers to decide what they believe in the aforementioned debate. And unlike the sensation we find in some suspense stories, viewers won't have to suspend much belief to go along for the ride. John's journey happens step be step, each event happening in perfectly logical order. Is John creating his own story or is he just following the steps laid out for him long ago?

I enjoyed the movie all the way right up until they made it a bit too unrealistic at the end. Once you've seen it you'll know what I'm talking about...it was an interesting mix of both hope and loss.
The disaster scenes were grisly and disturbing. Cage did a great job of post-traumatic shock that was played just right.

One of the strongest experience I had by seeing a war film.
I absolutely love this movie because it shows us how much these men go through to try and make the world a better place.
This movie so realistically captures the two different styles of war (USA and Somalia); one being incredibly organized and technically superior, and the other being disorganized but fighting with reckless abandon. The gunfire-scenes are amazing as are the injuries and the treatment of them.
It wasn't may be that massacre that in Spielberg's Saving Private Ryan was, but some shots are rather disgusting.
A must-see for anyone thinking war is glorious.

This movie had a very strong script that felt very honest & humble, and what I mean by that is, it didn't need/rely on any extravagant twists/turns in order for it be interesting and suspenseful. It managed to intrigue and excite with a single plot.
The performance given by the actors in this film is what gives it the extra quality that makes it an especially good and entertaining movie. They all live up to their names/status and deliver solid performances that remind us why they're A-list actors. It's also worth mentioning that the supporting actors/actresses are equally impressive.
In conclusion, this was a great movie and I highly recommend it to everyone, especially action/drama fans.

    Public Enemies Public Enemies

''I like baseball, movies, good clothes, fast cars... and you. What else you need to know?''

The Feds try to take down notorious American gangsters John Dillinger, Baby Face Nelson and Pretty Boy Floyd during a booming crime wave in the 1930s.

    Johnny Depp: John Dillinger

The latest offering from Micheal Mann highlights the infamous John Dillinger and the 1930s depression era, a time of high crime and when bank robbery was big business. Public Enemies is expertly shot, if what sometimes dizzyingly shakey true to Mann's style, poise, and essence in the way he shoots and makes a film. It is also a historical story filmed in a modern way which puts a totally new spin on things. Interestingly the costumes, sets and chases are excellently displayed, and we really believe we are right there with them in the 1930s in all it's glory.

What can I say about the cast? It's a star laden cast thats for sure. Of course, we have Johnny Depp as enigmatic bank robber Dillinger. We have the opposite end of the table, Christian Bale as Melvin Purvis, the FBI Agent on Dillingers trail. The rest of the cast includes Marion Cotillard as John's love interest Billie Frechette, David Wenham, Billy Crudup, and numerous other appearances. The acting as expected is top notch, the direction and tempo moderately paced, blending drama with action.

''They ain't tough enough, smart enough or fast enough. I can hit any bank I want, any time. They got to be at every bank, all the time.''

So how does Public Enemies fare against the other treats Micheal Mann has given us? Is it as good as Heat? Is it another Collateral or mixed bag like Miami Vice was for fans and critics? I feel that it's an amazing film, however I did not get any sensation after watching that this was a masterpiece of film. At times its void of humour, sometimes the plot tends to go round in a circle and of course, the ultimate outcome of John Dillinger is one we can see coming a mile away. An outcome that is more than possibly echoed in history by an array of infamous characters.

So we get the cars, the women, the bank robberies, the prison escapes, and the fast paced car chase and shootouts to name but a few of Public Enemies attractions. It is a joy as always to see Christian Bale and of course Johnny Depp sharing the big screen and doing there respective thing. Public Enemies is a bold effort by Mann, in my opinion I expected something more, and probably because I am a Mann fan, pardon the pun, I did not feel that this matched his earlier offerings. Granted the shootouts are typical Mann and I think I may have missed the trademark blue scene true to his signature in-print to his movies.

Public Enemies is going to be a big hit this summer, thanks to the lure of it's two stars, the fact it is Micheal Mann, and the fact it is a historical insight into another world. I would recommend seeing it but it's the type of film you wouldn't necessarily would want to go and see again, and this for me is a disappointment. So the end summary I would give, Public Enemies is great but very over-hyped. Great performances from it's three main stars and dazzling action, but don't expect a feel good conclusion. At least Mann did a killer soundtrack, I'd watch it again for that.

Melvin Purvis: The only way you're walking out of this jail cell is when we take you out to execute you.
John Dillinger: Well, we'll see about that.

Is the delusion of "love" better than living without love? An excellent film by William Wyler in 1949, starring Montgomery Clift and Olivia de Haviland. An awkward, plain unmarried (mature) woman is swept off her feet by a handsome young man with an eye to her fortune. He makes her happy-almost transforming her into a vibrant and happy woman. Her shot at love is sabataged by her father who suspects the young man's motives, but more importantly, cannot believe that any man could love his dull, plain daughter.De Haviland is excellent in portaying a woman transformed, again and again. The ending was spectacular.

Weird but I gotta say I liked this one better than the first one. I think it had something to do with the fact the lemurs were in this one a lot more than in the first.
I don't know if it has anything to do with Sacha Baron Cohen voicing him, but every time he appears on screen, I just can't stop laughing. The lines he gets are just so god damn funny. So I suppose it has a little to do with Cohen as it's about the delivery and the accent as well.
In this adventure the animals fly off of Madagascar but crash land in Africa. Here they discover the land they are from.
It's odd that even though they only voice the characters, they somehow don't really make an effort to be something different. I'm mainly talking about Ben Stiller, Chris Rock and David Schwimmer. There is no alteration in their voices as at. It's just them, plain as day. Which in the case of Chris Rock and David Schwimmer I can get past without too much trouble. But Ben Stiller pisses me off something terrible. Even when he's playing a cartoon lion his bad acting manages to to seep through. Ben Stiller doesn't act. He plays himself in different scenarios. In this case he just happens to have embodied a lion. This doesn't alter his 'acting' at all.
I gotta say you have to see this because watching the whole thing once just to see the Lemurs is totally worth it. The stars I give this film basically go to Cohen and no one else. If it wasn't for him I would hate it.
