I love any movie that has mystery, action or comedy. I don't watch scary movies, I've never liked them and to this day it's hard for me to sit down and watch them with anybody.
Desiree's History behind scary movies: When I was little, all of the Chucky movies were pretty popular. I never wanted to watch them but my mom thought it would help me get over my fears. She put me on the couch, in the dark, by myself and made me watch all of the chucky movies until I wasnt scared anymore.....UM! Guess again! I hated dolls since then and do not even look at them to this very day! |

Burn After Reading
by DebThis story almost defies explanation because it is such a parade of absurdity from beginning to end. "What a clusterf**k?". Everyone is sleeping with everyone, with glee and no conscience. I wish I had the Coen brothers' dark sense of humor,I might have enjoyed this more.
Great performance by John Malkovitch; his anger and rage is always a pleasure to watch (as weird as that may sound) and Brad Pitt is believable as an idiotic and rather dim personal trainer. Tilda Swinton is the Ice Queen of All Time. It is unclear as to what the point of Clooney's character was, perhaps other than being an A-hole. (He plays a paranoid sexual deviant that uses women for his own pleasure.)The best part of the film was when Malkovich's boss was making the report to his boss! “Report Back to Me......... When This Makes Sense” This statement essentially sums up the film.
“Burn after Reading”...just place it on the Next Plane to Venezuela, after all there is no Extradition Treaty.posted 1 day ago -

Shutter
by DebSexy blond, Handsome bloke..but the film sucked. There is a twist at the end and Ben found out why he's had a permanent neck ache, but it's a case of 'too little too late!' This is another one of those Japanese supernatural horror films remade for America. Try something else. Something original, maybe!
I guess it's OK to watch if you think Joshua Jackson is hot!!!

The Hangover
by DebThis movie is definitely a guy flick but totally hilarious. I could visualize guys turning to their buddies and saying "Yeah, this could be us!" It's about a Vegas bachelor party gone horribly wrong, in which the groom disappears and no one can remember a damned thing. Bradley Cooper, Ed Helms and Zach Galifianakis are likable and identifiable enough for an audience to go along with events that could quite easily in another context seem ridiculous. Tyson generates a few laughs for everyone and even though Ken Jeong was a little over the top....his performance was overall quite funny. Oh and make sure you watch the beginning of the credits and don't walk straight out, this is the big pay off and really outrageous accompanied by Flo Rida's "Right Round" Awesome! I enjoyed every min of this film and I'm a gal!
Hey, you should really see this! This is one movie that is as funny as advertised and one hangover you wouldn’t forget…

The House Bunny
by DebCliché, but so Very Cute! It is sweet, and quite funny. Shelley Darlingson is played by Anna Faris, a Playboy bunny who, the day after she turns 27, is told in a letter to leave the Playboy mansion. Poor Shelley leaves and stumbles upon the sorority house ZEDA. Faris is fantastic as lovable, adorable, intelligently stupid Shelley, trying to teach the girls to be 'sexy'. She's of course, roll on the floor hilarious.
Hugh Hefner happily takes part in the movie where he is like a kindly uncle preceding over good clean fun, and certainly not a pornographer who has gotten rich from attractive young women in states of undress or having sex.
The rest of the cast, including Emma Stone, Christopher McDonald and Beverly D'Angelo, is good, also. The movie also features Cool Music by artists such as Rihanna, Ashlee Simpson, Metro Station, The Cab, Ingrid Michaelson, Phantom Planet and Avril Lavigne.
Don't go to The House Bunny with outrageous expectations. Take it for what it is and you'll have a good time! I end with "The eyes are the nipples of the face." Haha.Hey, you should really see this!

1408
by Deb"1408" is a scary, creepy, psychological thriller with a really terrifying atmosphere and really does give you chills down your spine! It sets such an overpowering sense of impending terror in the most subtle of ways. If you truly love horror films, here's one to watch.
It is well-played by John Cusack who made a living by traveling from place to place and disproving rumors and superstitions about ghosts and poltergeists. Cusack decides to investigate an allegedly evil room in New York City where numerous guests and hotel staff have been killed over the years, and for the first time confronts what he believes to be a genuine supernatural presence. Samuel L. Jackson as the hotel manager is also amazing and convincing. They even managed to surprise me with the ending.
If you liked "The Ring" and "The Grudge," you will probably like "1408."Hey, you should really see this! Based on short story by Stephen King.

Shade
by Deb"Shade" is a story of small-time crooks trying to make big... the characters were alright, and the plot OK with some twists and turns. Fairly decent "Big Con" movie, although not in the class of "The Sting" featuring Jamie Foxx, Sylvester Stallone, Melanie Griffith, Gabriel Bryne and Thandie Newton. There is a card mechanic performing numerous tricks with a deck of cards, shot from various angles at opening credits......fascinating.

18 Year Old Virgin
by DebDirty, raunchy comedic drama about a hot girl in love with a hot guy who's in love with someone else, all the while hot girl's best buddy has been secretly lusting after her for years, like I said, nothing new here! Lots of naked scenes and the only plus for me, I enjoyed the music so I am gonna gave my rating based on that.
Watch it at your own risk!

Knowing
by DebNicolas Cage is simply brilliant as a man finding out that life is predetermined and not just the result of random events. "Knowing" is an awesome movie not to be missed by Sci-fi fans. It has action, suspense, excellent cinematography, good plot and it kept me on the edge of my seat throughout the entire movie. I actually got Goosebumps and chills just watching it. This movie definitely rivets the senses of your humanity and wakes you up from the take-it-for-granted ease and comfort provided by the Western way of life. There are some disturbing scenes in this film, for example, the horrendous plane crash scene. The subway scene was fabulous in a macabre sort of way. After witnessing a plane, subway and car crash, I think I am afraid of leaving home now. I have to tell myself this is just a movie but it is a tad too realistic for me. The mysterious supernatural occurrences add a neat twist and leave you slightly unsettled and unsure of exactly what is happening and where it's going. This movie just freaked me out ...excellent and way beyond my expectations. And the ending will certainly have people talking for a long time after.
Hey, you should really see this! I always thought global warming might destroy mankind so maybe we should treat this movie as a wakeup call and start taking the appropriate measures now..for instance..let’s all walk to work tomorrow !!(just kidding..I needed to laugh at something after all the emotional trauma of watching this movie.)But seriously...it is a good idea! One to ponder on!

The Pacifier
by DebIn this movie, Navy Lt. Shane Wolfe (Vin Diesel) is assigned to protect the family of a military computer programmer. I got to admit I was drooling over Vin Diesel because he was smoking hot in his white T?s and in one scene wearing nothing but a towel ?yummy. I totally loved the character he played here and admired the way he faced up to the challenge of his new assignment. In my opinion this is one of Vin Diesel's most appealing films, warm, funny, and very family oriented! Although first at odds with the children, he learns what it feels like to be a father and grows to love it and them. I?d love to see Diesel performing the "Peter Panda" dance once more?
Carol Kane is an absolute riot as housekeeper Helga. Lauren Graham and Brad Garrett were wonderful. Brad Garrett and his wrestling suit (I don?t know where they got that international wrestling singlet) but he was.... funny.
It was truly a great movie although no man will admit to enjoying this movie (too much of a threat to their macho personas) lol.Hey, you should really see this! This movie was hilarious and lots of fun for the family!

Babylon A.D.
by DebVin Diesel is a mercenary hired by a former client Gerard Depardieu. Depardieu wants him to protect a mysterious young woman named Aurora played by Melanie Thierry and bring her from a convent in Russia to America. New York City becomes Corporate World, where every skyscraper and sidewalk has a giant advertisement/commercial, no kiddin!
With a cast of Vin Diesel, Asian actress Michelle Yeoh, French actor Gerard Depardieu and the veteran British actress Charlotte Rampling, I thought this would be a great movie but they are all wasted here. It was intricately constructed and well-shot (for the most part) ... until the plot begins to crack and by the ending it all falls apart or maybe they ran out of film.. What makes this worse is that nothing is explained and I just wonder why half the stuff that happened did happen.
I liked Michelle Yeoh's performance; her acting and expressions are commendable and she is powerful and graceful in her martial arts display. Melanie Therry is nothing more that eye candy and with that being said, she does pull a convincing performance, but that's all.
Babylon AD is an action/adventure movie with sci-fi trimmings. There are spectacular explosions, wild chases and tough one-liners. There is this one amazing chase sequence on snow fields when the good guys on Snow mobiles are being followed by different forms of fighter planes. Vin Diesel saves the day with somersaults on the Snow Mobile that was simply mind blowing. Well done!Hey, you should really gave this one a Miss!!! Unless you got 90 mins to kill!

State of Play
by DebState of Play is an enjoyable, intense and excellent political thriller that starts out with a suspenseful killing on a dark and rainy night in an alley. It has a well-written, tightly paced script with twists and turns headed in every direction that affords all of the actors to shine.
Russell Crowe is the shabby, overweight but competent Washington Globe reporter. Rachel McAdams is delightful as the wet-behind-the-ears blog reporter, who becomes Crowe's sidekick and wants to help him get to the bottom of a mystery involving the death of a mysterious young woman with close connections to a corrupt corporation. Ben Affleck gave a solid and mature performance as a very uptight politician with a lot to hide. Helen Mirren is excellent as a tough no-nonsense newspaper boss, and Jason Bateman is particularly memorable as a PR man who talks too much. Michael Berresse is strikingly sinister as a demented ex-soldier whose menacing presence looms over the whole story as he prepares to assassinate others to keep a lid on corporate corruption in Washington. Murders, political corruption, a sex scandal, yeah that sounds familiar.
Sorry guys, no sex, not much swearing, I think Mrs Crowe (Danielle Spencer) and Mrs Affleck (Jennifer Garner) put their foot down, ha-ha. But then again, the two guys aren't the sexiest, so no bother. (I just wonder; if the male lead must be sloppy, why does Hollywood think the counterpart must be a beautiful, perfectly groomed young woman?)
This film was a bona fide entertainment joy-ride and I absolutely loved it!Hey, you should really see this! The twists and turns will hold your attention, even if the final twist isn't really too surprising....

One Missed Call
by DebThe plot unwinding was pointless and this movie was so dumb that I didn't even care what the ending was. I just wanted it to end because supposedly we should be afraid of two inanimate objects, an inhaler and a cell phone.
No, the cell phones don't kill the people instead a vengeful ghost within the cell phone does. Over the years, the cell phone has become the one indispensable electronic gadget that everybody owns, so it is inevitable that horror movie makers would exploit this vulnerability with a haunted cell phone movie. Just awesome!! Don't expect to scream, because you won't. Don't expect to jump, because you won't!!!
On a positive note Edward Burns was not bad playing a detective who is trying to save a girl and her friends from the things that are killing them. I liked Shannyn Sossamon from her lead role in A Knight's Tale, alongside Heath Ledger and Paul Bettany and she did pretty okay here playing the girl that is trying to protect her friends. You should definitely skip this one.... I heard that the Japanese version wasn’t that bad and better than the American version…I guess there are some that don’t want to make the effort of reading the subtitles lol so this one is for them....

10 Items or Less
by DebMorgan Freeman is the central character and basically plays himself, although the director swears the script was not written for him. (Freeman is the executive producer of this film.)
He is doing some research for a role as a grocery store manager for a low budget movie and sees the gorgeous Spanish cashier Scarlet (Paz Vega). His driver never returns to pick him up and Scarlet gives the actor a ride. But first she has a job interview for the position of secretary in a construction company which the actor helps her to be prepared for; then they spend the afternoon together talking.
If you're looking for action, this isn't the movie to see. There is no action here but there's LOTS of dialogue. Or you can just drool over Paz Vega cuz she is hot and sexy and a cross between Salma Hayek and Penelope Cruz.
I think Morgan Freeman is one of the best actors ever (he was incredible in 'The Shawshank Redemption') but what bothered me about this movie is that I got the feeling the actor only befriended Scarlet because she was beautiful. I wasn't quite sure if he was trying to help her or just making the moves on her. Or was he afraid to have a love affair with her and destroy his perfect world with his family? I'm still not sure but I'll ignore the cynic in me and just say maybe it's one of those little films about human relationships.
A nice line from Jim Parsons "You make me want to be a woman" to Freeman. At one point in the movie when they were lost, Morgan Freeman started talking about stopping the car to ask for directions and Scarlet said she never does that. BTW who ever heard of a guy wanting to ask for directions and the woman saying no? In the real world it's the exact opposite!!! I am just thinking aloud here!!!Still a Morgan Freeman fan!
