Ledger is flat-out freaky (this is a good thing), and they actually managed to surprise me with a couple of the plot twists. Darker than the first, but in a good way.
Would've been four stars (or at least 3 1/2) if the studio hadn't wussed out and changed the ending. The theatrical ending is a cop out and makes no sense -- rent this one and watch the 'alternate' deleted ending for an end that actually works with the film.
Good, but not the spectacle the critical reviews were making it out to be. If anything, Burton went a bit _too_ dark, going for more pure horror rather than dark comedy. I wasn't as impressed as I'd hoped.
The Nat. Treas. series isn't quite Indiana Jones, but they have a lot of fun getting pretty close. Check your brain at the door and go in for a fun ride, it's just as worthy as the first one was.
