The Replacement Killers - R This is a solid action movie. It stars Chow Yun Fat as a assassin who gets a conscience when it comes to job. The man who hired him then sends out more assassins to kill him for not doing the hit. The movie has a solid story. Chow Yun Fat is great as the hero of the film. Mira Sorvino is also quite good in her role. You get tons of action sequences and gun fights as expected in this. They take a lot from John Woo films for the style of the action and images in the movie. If your looking for a good action movie to watch then check this out. January 7, 2010

White Men Can't Jump - R This is a solid movie starring Wesley Snipes and Woody Harrelson. They made this a fun film to watch. This movie has elements of comedy and drama. Basically about two basketball hustlers who team up to improve their chances of making money on the court. Of course the movie is also about friendships. These two guys butt heads often but become good friends. A fun film with a good story and cast. Worth a watch. January 7, 2010

Domestic Disturbance - PG-13 This is a decent thriller. Stars John Travolta and Vince Vaughn. Travolta playes a divorced father who is still on good terms with his ex wife and son. Vince Vaughn plays the step father who marries into the family. At first everyone seems to like him but when the son finds out his step father is a murderer the only one who believes him is his actual father. John Travolta is solid in his role as the hero. Vince Vaughn is quite good in the role as the bad guy. This is a typical predictable thriller. But it works and was entertaining. I liked it. Worth a watch. January 7, 2010

Beverly Hills Cop III - R This is the third movie in the Beverly Hills Cop series. Not as good as the other two movies. But it still is a decent action movie. Eddie Murphy is back with his character to solve a case and create tons of chaos. This movie is typical of the other films with the action, explosions and foul humour. But it works for this type of movie. Eddie is solid again in his role. If you enjoyed the other films in the series then you should check this one out. January 7, 2010

Escape from New York - R This is a cult film from the early 80's by director John Carpenter. It stars Kurt Russell as Snake Plissken who is a criminal in a bleak future. New York is now a prison island for the most dangerous criminals. The USA president plane crashes in the island and is now the criminals prison. So they send Snake Plissken in to save the president and he gets paroled. This is a fun film. The movie shows off the dark and bleak future. Kurt Russell is great as Snake Plissken. He is the quintessential tough guy hero. A bad guy with some morals. The movie has some decent action and funny lines from Snake Plissken. The movie does seem a bit aged now but I still find it a fun watch. If you enjoy movies like Mad Max then you should enjoy this as well. January 7, 2010

3000 Miles to Graceland - R This is a good heist film. The movie stars Kevin Costner and Kurt Russell. But the film also has a great supporting cast. The story is basically about a group of criminals that rob a casino. In the course of the theft they turn on each other and another one gets a change of heart. The movie is full of action sequences and one liners. Kevin Costner plays a great bad guy in this. This is just one of those films that are just plain fun to watch. January 6, 2010

Colors - R This is a good movie about cops in Los Angeles that try and control the gang crime in the city. Stars Sean Penn as a rookie cop with veteran cop Robert Duvall. The movie is also about issues with racism and morals. The film has a good supporting cast. Plus with a solid story and acting this was a good movie. If you enjoy movies about cops then check this out. January 6, 2010

The Amityville Horror - R This film was well made for its time. Apparently based on true events. The story I find is sort of scary. But not scary in as if a monster is out to get you but more of the unknown or pure evil scare. James Brolin is great in this. The movie does have that 70's look and feel to the film. They made sequels to this movie that never seemed to be on par with this original. But the Ryan Reynolds remake was close to this one. Overall this was a good horror film for it's time. A bit dated with the look but it is still scary. Worth a watch. January 6, 2010

Assassins - R This is a classic action flick with Stallone and Banderas at their best as action stars. The story is about two of the best assassins hired to take down a women and get back a computer disk. This movie gives you what you expect. A solid story with solid acting. Plus you get all the action, fights and explosions you would want from a action movie. Stallone and Banderas are great as the adversaries in this. Just a fun action movie. Worth a watch. The Man Who Knew Too Much - PG This is another classic movie directed by Alfred Hitchcock. Basically about a couple who have their son kidnapped when the stumble upon a assassination plot. The movie stars James Stewart and Doris Day. They both give top notch performances. The movie has a great story. Very entertaining. Plus the entire film has that look and feel to a Hitchcock type movie. The movie is not as good as other Hitchcock movies like Vertigo, North by Northwest or Rear Window. But it still is a classic. Well worth a watch. January 4, 2010

The Watcher in the Woods - PG This is a movie that had promise but failed in the end. I was shocked to find out this was a Disney movie. I guess this was their attempt to make a scary movie but still have a general rated audience watch it. The movie started out as creepy but once the story evolved it became less and less creepy. The movie has a very low budget look. Plus the acting was very bad in this. This may creep out some kids but now it comes across as a very cheesy movie. Not worth a watch. Skip it. January 4, 2010

State and Main - R This is a quirky but fun movie. Basically about a film crew trying to make a movie in a small town in Vermont. They of course have problems with locations, the actors and the local towns people. This movie has a great cast with William H. Macy, Alec Baldwin, Julia Stiles, Philip Seymour Hoffman, Sara Jessica Parker and so forth. The movie has many funny moments. And all the actors give solid performances. The story is worth a watch just for the cast brought together for this. Worth a watch. January 4, 2010

Copycat - R This is a good mystery thriller about a string of copycat murders. The film stars Sigourney Weaver, Dermot Mulroney, Holly Hunter and Harry Connick Jr. The movie has a very good story and cast. The acting is top notch. And the movie has a good flow and enough suspense to make for a entertaining movie. Harry Connick Jr. is great in his role as the serial killer. He impressed me with his performance. Overall this is a solid entertaining movie. Well worth a watch. January 4, 2010

Striking Distance - R This is a solid action mystery thriller. It stars Bruce Willis as a cop who is investigating the murder of his father by a serial killer. The movie has a decent story and supporting cast. Bruce Willis is great as the tough cop with a bad attitude. The movie has enough action and suspense to keep me entertained. Plus I liked the ending to the movie. I did not suspect who the killer was. Overall a solid action mystery film that entertained. If your a Bruce Willis fan then check this out. January 4, 2010

The Frighteners - R This is a decent horror comedy. Stars Michael J. Fox as a psychic swindler who can actually talk to the dead. He gets involved in a case of mysterious deaths. The film is directed by Peter Jackson. He gets the best from his cast and the script. Michael J. Fox is great as the lead and the movie has a good supporting cast. The F/X is very good in this. I wouldn't call this a scary film but more of a supernatural comedy. The story is decent and entertaining overall. Check it out if your a Peter Jackson or Michael J. Fox fan. January 4, 2010

Escape from L.A. - R This is the sequel to the John Carpenter film Escape from New York. Kurt Russell is also back as Snake Plissken. Much like the original film the future looks very bleak. This time Snake Plissken is sent to the prison Island of Los Angeles. He must go in and save the President's daughter to become a free man. Much like the original movie he has to start interacting with the local prisoners to get what he wants. Kurt Russell is still great as Snake Plissken. The movie is kind of cheesy but in a fun way. The story is okay and it does have some solid action. If you liked the original movie or enjoy future desolate world type of film then this is worth checking out. December 31, 2009

The Hand That Rocks the Cradle - R This is a really good thriller. Basically about this nanny that a family hires that has her own agenda to get revenge on them. Rebecca De Mornay is excellent in this. Most likely her best role she starred in. The movie has a great supporting cast. With a great story that keeps you on the edge. You wonder what else this woman will do. Well worth a watch. December 31, 2009
