The Good, the Bad and the Ugly 5.0 Stars
The last chapter in Sergio Leone's man with no name trilogy has got to be his best film ever.

Starring Clint Eastwood, Lee Van Cleef and Eli Wallach, this film and its two prequels estabished the spaghetti western as a subgenre and helped make Eastwood an international Film star.

This film also depicted the old west as gritty and violent in a more realistic way, ushering the genre into modern cinema. With a great and awe-inspiring musical score by Ennio Morricone and beautiful cinematography, this film is a true masterpiece of Italian cinema and an international classic.

There's no place like home.

Absolutely one of the greatest and most entertaining family classics of all-time!

When I was growing-up this film was a yearly tradition to watch on network tv. This is one of my favorite films even today. With great use of color, a talented cast, fantastic set design and memorable characters from the Wicked Witch to the Scarcrow, Tin Man and the Cowardly Lion. Also some good musical numbers highlight this truly classic fantasy film.

And those damn flying blue monkeys still give me the creeps, though they are pretty cool.

Tim Burton's very funny homage to 1950's and '60's scifi b-movies and alien invasion films is a real hoot to watch.
With an all-star cast that parodies todays Hollywood blockbusters and a 1950's campy b-movie style, anyone who is a real fan of classic scifi movies or enjoys Burton's somewhat odd humor in his films should find this movie at least somewhat entertaining.

Look for Jack Nicholson in a dual role as the President of the United States and a seedy used car salesman. And Pierce Brosnan does a descent job spoofing the straght-laced scientist / hero roles that were common in classic science fiction films. And the aleins and their ships, based on a series of 1960's collector cards from Topps, fit the tone of the movie perfectly. A truely wacky treat.
