Truly outstanding.

This film starts off in a melancholy way but as it runs, it drags you in and makes you feel what the characters feel-you find yourself uplifted at times as it is touchingly amusing in parts. This is due in part to a superb performance from Carrey- this is exactly the kind of serious role where he displays an abundance of talent.

The direction in certain parts is brilliantly realised, and the soundtrack for this film fits the tone perfectly.

Excellent show. Every time you watch it you notice something new. Superb acting- even manages to coax an excellent performance from John 'Flinstones' Goodman!

Apocalypse Now (1979,  R)
Apocalypse Now 5.0 Stars
A stunning introspective exploration of individuals in war. The soundtrack fits the mood, tone and era exactly. The casting is perfect. There are so many breathtaking acting performances it is hard to single out one, but I particularily liked Robert Duvall. Astounding, bewildering and surreal, all at the same time.

Blade Runner 5.0 Stars
I decided to put my thoughts about this movie in a series of points as it would take too long to flesh it out.

-Best soundtrack ever made
-Atmospheric
-Great cast
-Iconic
-Brilliant vision
-Precocious sets and SFX
-Has the soul that I find lacking in Star Wars
-Ford perfect for lead role
-Directors Cut is only way to get true experience of movie

Gritty tragi-comedy. A very good commentary on the pathetic (in the true sense of the word) lives of the drug addicted.

It's a Wonderful Life (1946,  Unrated)
It's a Wonderful Life 5.0 Stars
The ultimate feel-good movie. This is brilliant on so many levels- it's funny, quaint, wholesome, philosophical, romantic, gripping, optimistic (and at times pessimistic), and it awakens the emotions linked with each. It is superbly acted and it is hard to imagine anyone doing better in any role. Absolutely classic cinema.
