I have pretty much no idea what to make of this movie. It totally messes with your head and even the resolution which is supposed to make everything clear can't make up for how much your head has been fucked up over the previous two hours. The really weird part is how it totally differs from anything else that writer/director Cameron Crowe has made. Having seen almost all of his other films, I thought I had a fairly reasonable expectation of what kind of movie this would be. That turned out to not be the case. The rating I gave it is more out of respect for the idea that somewhere in there, after a couple of viewings maybe, there's a movie that's really trying to say something. I just don't know if I could sit through it again.

I really liked how this film didn't try to overstate the significance of the Watergate cover-up and investigation process. It was presented more as a fairly straight-forward story of how Woodward and Bernstein uncovered the entire scandal. In other words, this movie minimized the high-handed talk about how important the whole thing was in terms of the preservation of the American way of life and everything like that and presented as kind of a good mystery story. I appreciated that style of storytelling.

My all-time favorite movie that not many other people like.

One of the best movies I've ever seen. One of the few movies that actually manages to be better than its source material.
