Could be classed as a 'stop the bomb' movie. Has elements of 'die hard' action scenes. Connerey and Cage are funny in places. Stylish action drama.

Hum....i watched this again last night and added half a star.
My main problem is not with the history being wrong, or with the violence, but with the constant dispair throughtout this 3 hour movie. It's heartache all the way, and the English are all portrayed as bad and nasty, or cruel and useless. On the plus side i was going to sit through just an hour, but made it till the bitter end. Mel Gibson seems to have a thing about pain. Not a film to see over and over, but certainly worth a look.

So what does make this the best feature film of all time? A unquie and brilliantly crafted story where you have to see the world through the eyes of a young man who stares at everything in wonder, and doesn't realise he is witnessing monumental events which are shaping the course of history. This is the hardest fil to review because his life is so filled with extraordinary happenings that are unbelivable, interesting, unusual, and totally fascinating all at the same time. There are no car chases or villians to kill... no warrior battles or goal to reach. And yet this simple man lives his life like a fairy tale coming truth...and sociaty doesn't understand or accepts him. There has never been a film with so many memorable lines of dialoge! If you only see one film in your life, take no notice of any bad reviews who look too much into things, keep an open mind and view the world anewwith 'Forrest Gump'.

THE GREATEST MOTION PICTURE OF ALL TIME. BEN HUR is More worthy of the 11 Academy Awards it received than the other two films than equalled it. You have to watch this on the big screen to fully appreciate this masterpiece of cinama. The chariot race is epic on its own. One of the best scenes ever placed on film. Watch the whole film to appreciate the story. Charlton Heston is Legend. PERFECTION ON FILM. Everything here is outstanding and legendary.
