Lonesome Jim
by LYNNCasey Affleck, Liv Tyler, Mary Kay Place, Jake La Botz, Kevin Corrigan
DIRECTED BY: Steve Buscemi
Jim begrudgingly returns to his hometown in rural Indiana after failing to make it on his own in New York. He soon remembers why he left: a doting but overbearing mother, a distant father, and a depressed older brother whose "accidents" seem suspect at best. Jim is soon forced to take on his brother's duties -- working at his parent's factory and helping out with his two rambunctious nieces. Crippled by obligations and anxieties, Jim trudges on though every day monotones and the family's collapse after mom is mistakenly taken for a suburban drug smuggler. Almost miraculously, hope springs from his developing relationship with a local nurse and her young son, and Jim slowly learns to move forward without leaving anyone behind.

This movie tells a real story of depression and the struggles it brings along with it. Casey Affleck's character Jim is a really sad character. You can just feel the weight of despair coming from him. Casey gives a great performance as Jim. Liv Tyler's character Anika was like Jim's happy pill. She is what he needs to bring him back alive out of his 'chronic despair'. It was a good movie. Not for most. But after seeing Casey in Gone Baby Gone, I wanted to see him in other roles and that's when I came across this one. I think he has amazing acting skills. Plus I LOVE indie films. They in my opinion, are the most interesting and honest movies made.posted 28 days ago -

(500) Days of Summer
by LYNNJoseph Gordon-Levitt, Zooey Deschanel, Geoffrey Arend, Matthew Gray Gubler, Clark Gregg
This is a story of boy meets girl, begins the wry, probing narrator of 500 DAYS OF SUMMER, and with that the film takes off at breakneck speed into a funny, true to life and unique dissection of the unruly and unpredictable year-and-a-half of one young man's no-holds-barred love affair.

"...they use to call me anal girl."
LOL
I absolutely LOVED this movie. Every bit of it. Loved the story, the actors, the performances, and just the feel of the movie. Amazing. Joseph Gordon-Levitt was brilliant. You can't help but fall in love with his character Tom. Zooey Deschanel was amazing as well. Although I have love/hate feeling's for her character Summer. Loved the relationship between Tom and his younger sister. Just so cute. This movie warns you at the beginning, "THIS IS NOT A LOVE STORY", and its not although you so badly want it to be. It's a story of heartbreak, and the bitterness of a breakup. It's a very different film that shows the unsweetened truth of real life breakups without the usual happy endings most movies give you, which is refreshing. This movie takes you on a journey and you can't help but love the ride. Makes you think it's going one way, and then there's the sharp turn and it's headed in a whole different direction. It takes you back and forth from the past where their together and happy to the present where he is alone, miserable and sad. Told the story beautifully. I loved the unknown of the movie, not being able to predict how the film would end. Great movie with great music throughout it (gotta get the soundtrack). This should be on everyone's must see list.posted 29 days ago -

In the Valley of Elah
by LYNNTommy Lee Jones, Charlize Theron, James Franco, Jason Patric, Susan Sarandon, Josh Brolin
Tommy Lee Jones in another great performance. The movie is about an retired officer of the army investigating the death of his son Tucker who went AWOL after coming back from Iraq. He gets help from a female detective who is played by Charlize Theron. There is a lot of covering up, and no one wants to tell the truth. The whole movie is a build up to the ending which will leave you feeling disgusted, sympathy for the convicted, and heartbroken for the dead boys family. The movie is disturbing, and shows us what it is like for the soldiers and their families when they have come back from war. Susan Sarandon, although not having that much screen time in this movie is amazing with just the little bit of screen time she was given. You can feel her grief. Those who are for the war may be left feeling indifferent about it after watching this film. It's definitely shows the downfall of going to war, and has you sympathizing for the soldiers and their families even more so now then before. Great movie and great performances.posted 29 days ago -

Post Grad
by LYNNAlexis Bledel, Zach Gilford, Michael Keaton, Jane Lynch, Carol Burnett, J.K. Simmons
Ryden Malby graduates from college and is forced to move back into her childhood home with her eccentric family, while she attempts to find a job, the right guy, and just a hint of where her life is headed.

Cute, funny, quirky movie with a mix of a love story. Definitely would fall under the category of a chick-flick. The legend Carol Brunett plays the grandmother in this film and she is her usual hilarious self. Liked it, didn't love it.What I would love however is to see Alexis Biedel in some more serious roles. The girl can act, just needs to be put into the right roles. But surely this is a movie for those who like the chick-flicks.posted 30 days ago -

Gamer
by LYNNGerard Butler, John Leguizamo, Michael C. Hall, Logan Lerman, Kyra Sedgwick, Milo Ventimiglia, Alison Lohman, Amber Valleta
Set in a future-world where humans can control other humans in mass-scale, multi-player online gaming environments, a star player (Butler) from a game called "Slayers" looks to regain his independence while taking down the game's mastermind (Hall).
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
OK, this movie wasn't great, but it wasn't bad either. The way they used the camera was a bit annoying. It goes a little fast at times and makes it hard to see everything that is going on. Michael C. Hall played the bad guy well. I like Logan Lerman. He plays a good smart ass. =)
It's got a lot of action, and the concept of the movie is pretty messed up. Kinda like the movie Surrogates, but other people control you in this movie and make you do some horrendous things. It was all in all an OK film.posted 30 days ago -
Sally Field is amazing. She absolutely breaks my heart in this movie. Anyone who has had a close member pass away from cancer like myself just recently, can relate to this story. This movie takes you to where many of us have been when they are all coming together to say goodbye to a loved one. This movie will have you back and forth from tears to laughter. Sally field is one who never disappoints with another brilliant performance. A must see.posted 30 days ago -
Thought it was an OK movie. Worth the watch. All of the actors have done better work. Just kinda feel like the movie could have been better. JGL character got on my last nerve with all his non-stop talking about the most random shit. But all in all a decent movie. =)posted 32 days ago -
A great movie with an amazing cast. What a ride this movie takes you on. So many twists and turns. A smart suspense thriller. Has a great storyline, and the performances where right on. Loved Rachel McAdams and Russell Crowe together. This movie is close to the 2hr mark, but you would never notice with the speed of the movie. No slow points. Keeps moving at steady pace that holds you interest throughout. Love these kinds of movies. A must see.posted 32 days ago -
The Life Before Her Eyes
by LYNNBrian M. Wixson, Eva Amurri, Evan Rachel Wood
Diana is a suburban wife and mother who begins to question her seemingly perfect life--and perhaps her sanity--on the 15th anniversary of a tragic high school shooting that took the life of her best friend. In flashbacks, Diana is a vibrant high schooler who, with her shy best friend Maureen, plot typical teenage strategies--cutting class, fantasizing about boys--and vow to leave their sleepy suburb at the first opportunity. The older Diana, however, is haunted by the increasingly strained relationship she had with Maureen as day of the school shooting approached. These memories disrupt the idyllic life she's now leading with her professor husband Paul and their young daughter Emma. As older Diana's life begins to unravel and younger Diana gets closer and closer to the fatal day, a deeper mystery slowly unravels.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Tragic, sad, and heart breaking. That's what I think of after seeing this movie. Such amazing performances by Evan Rachel Wood and Eva Amurri. This has to be my favorite performance by both of them. This movie takes you back and forth from the past to the present. It gets you right at the begining of the film. Two best friends standing in the bathroom pleading for their lives, and yet the killer with the gun says only one of them will die, and then he asks the most horrific question. "Which one of you do I kill?" Leaving it up to the best friends to decide which one of them should be left alive. It keeps you guessing as to what happens until the end. Some people are disappointed with the ending, and really didn't understand it. But I say take away from it what you will.posted 33 days ago -

The story of five teenage girls who form an unlikely bond after beating up a teacher who has sexually harassed them. They build a solid friendship but their wild ways begin to get out of control.

Really liked this movie. Some of the early works of Angelina Jolie. Thought she was great in it. Loved how all the girls, even though are very different from each other, come together and kick their perverted teacher's ass. LOL..
Shows you that one event in your life can bring you to befriend some people you would normally never even have a conversation with. A "girl power" movie.posted 33 days ago -

The People Under The Stairs
by LYNNAJ Langer, Brandon Adams, Brandon Quintin Adams
A bookish and poverty-stricken young boy becomes involved in a scheme in order to pay for his mother's operation but is met with unsuspecting horrors.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This was my favorite scary movie when I was younger. Loved it so much I bought on DVD. I have seen it so many times I can't count. Love the story line, the creepiness of the characters. The two creepers are a couple who are brother and sister who want children but can not have children and so they kidnap them. But the catch is, when the children misbehave and become imperfect, the couple locks them underneath the stairs and goes on the hunt for other children. The children start piling up underneath the stairs. It's directed by one of the greats (in my opinion) Wes Craven. So you have to see it just for that fact alone. LOL.
There is a mixture of scary moments, some gore, comedy, and a little bit of cannibalism, oh, and sprinkled with a little bit of incest. LOL..posted 34 days ago
