This was a wonderful collection of short love vignettes set in Paris. A few of them were kind of weak but for each of those there was one that was really great. Also, it's a little bit on the long side, but still worth viewing.
Bolt wasn't a bad film but I was expecting more. Ironically, it doesn't become interesting until it turns into the cliche "talking animals finding their way home" film that we've seen before. The voice acting was pretty good all around but the hamster and pigeons stole the spotlight. The kids will enjoy it but I probably wont be watching it again.
Bender's Game is just as enjoyable as Big Score. It was more straight forward than Big Score, but just as funny. I think that of the four films, this one will work best when they bring it to television.
This one doesn't feel connected to the other three. I rank this one third. The writers incorporated this self awareness of the fact that this was the end but they also leave it open. I also give them credit for not trying to squeeze in every character thats ever been on the show. Overall it's a decent ending.
Beast touched on love and religion. This one is the only one that I didn't care for, not because of the subject matter, but that the plot was just too far from the norm. Maybe I'll like it more after a second viewing.
It started off with a lot of cheap gags and I was worried but soon the story pulled together into the kind of creative and intricate storytelling that I expect from Futurama. The ending was predictable but still touching when it finally came. The references to the previous seasons will make this movie much more rewarding for fans of the series than someone unfamiliar with it.
This was a very sweet romantic comedy. I really enjoyed watching this again. This felt like a comedy about real people with desires and issues and not just a string of goofy skits with romance as an afterthought. It's been a long time since I've seen a movie where I really hoped that two people get that "push" that they need to make it work.
I'm not sure who this movie is aimed at. It's animated with cutesy Star Wars characters, but the goofy Star wars political gibberish will be over the heads of children and most adults simply wont care. It's basically one LONG meaningless fight scene. We know how it began, we know how it ends. Perhaps it's time to give this material a rest.
I watched the animated comic and it was GREAT! It was also 5+hrs. So with considerably less time to work with, Watchmen the movie drops a lot of subplot (as with the original Nite Owl) and abbreviates action (as with Rorchachs ink test - he seems to confess instantly). Other moments are completely rewritten. As a result, it looses a lot of it's soul. Not to mention that the literal usage of music is annoying and distracting (Comedian/Boogie Man). Fans MIGHT forgive it's flaws but people unfamiliar with the story may find themselves bored and confused.
1/3 of the way through the movie I still didn't know what was going on. Then when I found out, I was shocked that it was so dumb. It was also kind of slow and dreary. The main villain was pretty good though, even though they were oddly absent from the open-ended conclusion.
I was a big fan of the X Files. We do finally get to see Mulder and Scully kiss, but through most of the movie she seems like she's having her period. She's either yelling, crying, or both. Plus the X File was rather weak compared to the aliens in the first movie. It wasn't terrible, just slow and disappointing.
The Lost Boys is SO cool that you can look past the mullets, the beefed up rock-n-roll sax player, and clothing so awful that it will make your eyes bleed. It was great seeing it again.
Michael Cera is like the awkward uptight Will Ferrell of Hollywood. He's basically always the same character but what keeps it from getting old is seeing said character in different situations. If you are up for a cute-funny, predictable, occasionally gross, but fun romantic comedy, then give it a rent.
Resurrection was fairly disappointing. None of the characters stand out as much as they did in the original series. Afro is washed up, Kuma is a walking vegetable, and Sio (Lucy Liu) is decent but she is no Justice. I beat the game before I watched this movie. Although the game had some serious flaws, the poignant twist at the end of the game was far effective than anything in Resurrection (although I give it credit for trying).
Better than I expected. The Kung Fu is cool, the bad guy (Tai Lung) is good, and the story wraps up nicely. Jack Black does a good job at adding some of his craziness to Po's personality without being overpowering.
It's like an episode of The Office had it been directed by Eli Roth. Although it's more of a slasher than a comedy, enough camp and humor are present to keep it tolerable for folks like myself who aren't into the torture porn.
The only thing scary about this poorly made cliche garbage is the knowledge that I intentionally gave it 90 minutes of my life. If you like the kind of movies where characters put themselves in danger for no logical reason, then please, watch this movie.
This seems more like it was conceived and executed without too much thought. The evidence doesn't firmly support one side or the other. Although it's more interesting when he's sober, it will probably hold your attention if the premise seemed interesting to you.
I was honestly disappointed. The trailer was funny but the movie was rather depressing and preachy. Children won't 'get it' and adults won't care. See Ratatouille instead.
It's entertaining though not as good as Casino Royale. The action in Quantum is relentless but it's nothing we haven't seen before, and you never really feel connected to the story.
It's a 'WB' ('CW' for the young folks) soap opera of a vampire movie. I never read the book but I enjoyed the movie. It's not MUST SEE for vampire lovers, but if you can tolerate the massive dosage of 'teen love', you won't regret it.
It's not bad but it's not that good either. Keanu will take the heat for his acting, but in fact the problem was the equally cold and uninspired screenplay and directing that, by the end of the film had me thinking that extermination might just be the best option. It's a rental.
