1.
Forrest Gump
PG-13
a very touching story that also served as a history lesson. also what stuff you can make shrimp out of
2.
Memento
R
Memento is a thriller for people who are sick of thrillers, a puzzle movie in which the puzzle is actually worth the time and effort to solve. A very interesting story about a man who needs to solve a mystery but the man has amnesia . a must see
3.
Gladiator
R
From the spectacular opening battle scene ... to a final mano-a-mano showdown in the Coliseum, this film is at its best when it's at its bloodiest. a movie every guy should watch. NO EXCEPTIONS
4.
Almost Famous
R
As a director [Crowe] has an extraordinary gift for drawing out rounded, complex performances even in supporting roles and for indicating the fine emotional shadings in the relationships among his characters. You don't just watch Almost Famous, you listen to it. You groove on it. oh yeah it also made the song Tiny Dancer cool again.
5.
We Were Soldiers
R
the ending was classic how they fought for each other in a war that nobody knew what the meaning of was. While some will object to the idea of a Vietnam picture with such a rah-rah, patriotic tone, Soldiers ultimately achieves its main strategic objective: dramatizing the human cost of the conflict that came to define a generation.
6.
Fight Club
R
Simply rough and thick! Even though it loses punch during its extended running time it is still a vibrant contribution to the film world. Fight Club is not a glorification of violence. It is a deconstruction.

This is more of a "heads up" than an actual recommendation.
I learned today that a live action version of the anime "Neon Genesis Evangelion" is in the making. I'm no fan of mainstream anime in any way, but NGE caught my eyes a few years back (it also has a very catchy opening song).
WETA Workshop (LotR, Narnia, etc.) will do the digital effects, which in my ears sounds very promising.posted 53 days ago -
