What can be said about me? Well, for starters, this page is SCTRICTLY FOR MOVIES!!!! Don't send me those stupid widgets as they slow down my computer and overall are pretty pointless. Another thing I'd like to point out, this isn't date.com, so go look for somebody to flirt with elsewhere.

Now that that's out of the way I can state a few things about myself. 1st off, I DO want to talk to you....about movies =P. As you may see, I ENJOY films tremendously, I believe they're my 2nd life, aside from Music that is.

Music, Soccer, Movies and of course, Girls =). These 4 are my main concerns in life, well after achieving who I am to be of course.

Pink Floyd, The Clash, Guns N' Roses, Rage Against The Machine, Oasis, The Beatles, NIN, The Killers and Iron Maiden are my fav. bands.

NEW REVIEW. Ok, a movie like this needs a better review. so i'll try. Perfect movie, no flaws, perfect pace, outstanding writing, incredible acting, and wonderful directing. Superb use of music, sounds and special effects. Can this movie be less great than it already is? Not only is the screenplay one of the greatest ever made, but it is the ultimate love story. In how many movies do you see ppl falling in love etc, etc, etc? yeah, pretty much all of them, saying how much they love each other and stuff. This one is different, they show it, not just with words, but with the emotions, the interpretations of Jim Carrey make this the best love story ever made. One of the best movies of all time, quite possible my favorite movie but there's a few that are pushing in so i can't forget about those. This movie owns all the other love stories. Perfect.

One of the best movies ever made!~ Perfect Acting, Perfect Cast, Perfect All, Best movie of 1994, well its tied with Ed Wood, idk which one i love more but its better than Pulp Fiction, Quiz show and Forrest Gump put together, and notice those 3 all got 5's from me. Hope is the best thing you can wish for. Amazing Performances By both Tim and Morgan, i literally Cried of happiness at the end of this movie, it was soo amazing, groundbreaking movie. Flawless in every sense of the word.
Amadeus 4. Amadeus PG 5.0 Stars
Simply outstanding. This movie is so tragic and ironic that, makes it even more the worthwhile to watch it. The length of this film didn't bother me at all. Although i did yawn in certain sections of the movie, i wound up loving it at the end, every well, even though i don't wanna say boring i'll say SIMPLE part always ended with a bang, something to make you wonder what was the story leading to or better yet how the life of certain people changed thru the film. Hell, I love it...It caught me by surprise, i didn't expect to be this way. The acting was just incredible. At the last minutes of it, you could see how Tom Hulce really acted out his role and just made the movie even better, but Murray takes the cake in this one. His dialogue and just interpretation of every detail through the film was astonishing. One of the best movies ever made, Amadeus showed me once again what Movie making at its finest is. I'm in awe.

HOLY FUCKING SHIT! This has got to be the GREATEST ANIME OF ALL TIME!!!! It had it all, Blood, Action, Perfect Screenplay and one of the best soundtracks and emotions in an Anime ever. 1st of, its about how human waste can fuck up the planet, and the rebirth of nature and so forth, doesn't sound compelling i know but guess what? the movie hates you too. Even though the pace of the movie is RARELY slow, it didn't bother me, i mean how could it? It sucked me in and forced me to watch it, dats how intense this anime is. GODLY movie. a thing that bothers me though is how this movie is baldly compared. I mean, I really don't know why da fuck it says "the star war's of Animated Features, WTF!? This Movie steps on Star Wars! Wit dat being said, i love this fucking movie.

Sex and the City: The Movie Sex and the City: The Movie
    3.5 Stars by Janice
First of all, I have to admit that S&TC is a horribly boring show. So it was awkward for me to take the decision to go out and see this. Now recently, since I've been discovering the chick lit genre, I thought "Hmmm, Sex and The City sounds like a fun movie". And it was.

For starters, it's a happy-go-lucky film. Definitely not meant to be viewed with an overly critical eye nor a predisposition to not liking the film. If you can't handle the often times ditzy characters and overflowing closets, PLEASE, for the love of god, DON'T see this. You'll just ruin everyone else's fun! Other than that, I can truly say that I walked in the movie theatre to see Sex and The City expecting to see S&TC and nothing else. My mind was set on recreational mode. And boy was it served!

The first 10 minutes were so stupid and superficial that I almost regretted walking in to see this. But then things got serious. Dun dun dun, things aren't so perfect for the S&TC girls anymore!
And that's how Sex and The City was saved from being another stupid film. IT HAS DRAMA, PEOPLE! Halleluiah!
Now of course, don't expect tears but still - it was poignant... And I was instantly hooked in the movie after only a mere 30 minutes (of a 2h24mins movie). WooHoo!

Now the acting was mediocre. As a flixster friend of mine, Inez, said: "the cast is too comfortable to act in a silver screen, maybe they forgot that they were filming for a movie for consumptions in cinema". And I thought she was 100% right. Read her review if you can, you'll understand!

And since I attach a lot of importance to endings, I must say that S&TC's ending is genuinely perfect. It's amazing how an ending can totally change my opinion of a movie, and S&TC's ending is SO worth one istar. Cliché and predictable but hey, it's S&TC remember?

Give Sex and The City a chance. Deep down, I'm pretty sure you want to see it ;)
You just might wanna give it a try sometime

The Incredible Hulk The Incredible Hulk
    3.0 Stars by Ilya
    The Incredible Hulk (2008)
    Directed by Louis Leterrier
Starring Edward Norton, Liv Tyler, Tim Roth, William Hurt, Tim Blake Nelson, Ty Burrell

«Bruce Banner: [in a poor Portuguese] Don't make me hungry. You wouldn't like me when I'm hungry.
Tough Guy Leader: [in Portuguese] What the hell he is talking about?»

A story of a man who randomly transforms into a green monster when his anger level reaches the top, his love affair with the daughter of his worst enemy, and a life search for the cure that will bring him his normal life back. Compared to previous Hulk movie, The Incredible Hulk concentrates on the special effects rather than a story, but this time it includes some fairly good acting, however it shows a lack of a good script and just looks extremely dull.

First of all, it is important to mention that instead of Eric Bana we have Edward Norton playing Bruce Banner/Hulk. In my opinion, Norton suits the role, while Bana looks a little bit out of place. A great performance from Ed Norton, great character development and amazing acting, but because the script wasn't that good, we didn't really get to see the best of him. I wasn't particularly happy with Liv Tyler's acting; she lacked any kind of human sense and seemed a bit too ordinary for her role. I don't know why the director chose her for this film, as I can see any other person doing a much better job. I was really impressed by Tim Roth's performance which was perhaps second best in this film. His character was a tricky one, but the fact that he and his character were English helped him a lot. Still, he looked really professional and suited his role perfectly, a sort of a bad guy we wouldn't want to meet in real live. William Hurt was ok, even though he seems to overact a little bit. Tim Blake Nelson and Ty Burrell both did well in their minor roles.

The special effects were really great, the whole chasing scene were fascinating to watch, even though it looked like a poor copy of the Bourne Ultimatum scene. The final battle scene was probably the most memorable bit of special effects in this movie, and I have to admit it looked great. But mostly we have a typical battle between military guys and the Hulk himself, so it does lack originality.

The main problem of this film is: it is a rather dull movie. Yes there is all the chasing and fighting going on, but it just didn't look fun enough. Here we have Peter Parker cracking jokes in all three Spider-Man movies, Tony Stark making sarcastic remarks and looking all cocky and flamboyant in Iron Man, Bruce Wayne just looking bad ass in his batman costume and always smiling in Batman Begins, and even Fantastic Four movies managed to entertain many kids around the world. Incredible Hulk on the other hand had a guy who was trying to find a cure that will help him get rid of his super powers, when he could just try and use his power to help people. Also, it's not his fault that he can't use his powers, he simply can't control them, and therefore it is a bad thing in this movie. The whole movie just looked boring, dull and not entertaining what so ever. We have to enjoy this bit of special effects that has been offered to us just to make sure that we don't fall asleep while watching the rest of the film.

The story development was handled badly. The first 10 minutes that included literally the whole of the first movie looked rushed and pointless. Main characters were left in shadow, and at some point I found Tim Roth's character more developed than Bruce Banner himself. It is hard to understand what's actually going on in some parts of the movie, and everything just seem to happen way too fast, especially the action scenes.

Overall The Incredible Hulk was a bit of an improvement since the last Hulk movie, but still it wasn't nothing like the recent Iron Man movie. It's more of a movie that has been made specifically for the die hard fans of the Hulk and I am sure they will enjoy it, but for everybody else though, it may look not as great as the likes of Batman Begins and even Spider-Man.

Review Date: 6th of July, 2008.

Hey, you should really see this!

I actually found it rather dull and boring. Iron Man is just so much better than that. Shame, i expected more.

THE DARK KNIGHT is one of the very best films of the year!
Make no mistake ... this is NOT your average Mega-Million Summer Blockbuster.
This is a brilliant, mature, extremely rewarding film going experience.
    You will NOT be disappointed!
Its just amazing ... and Heath Ledger is phenomenal!!
I truly think he will have a chance for a posthumous Oscar nomination ... its happened before (James Dean)
and he could possibly win ... that's also happened before (Peter Finch).
The film delivers everything you have hoped for since it was announced.
This is a terrific script and all the tech credits are top-notch.
The superb Christian Bale is the best Bat Man ever, and Michael Caine, Morgan Freeman, Aaron Eckhart, Gary Oldman
and Maggie Gyllenhaal all deliver great performances.
But the 'star'of the film is the brilliant director Christopher Nolan. He just gets better and better and better!
How good is THE DARK NIGHT? Look for this 'genre' epic to be sitting with the 'prestige' films come Award Season.
    P.S. See it in IMAX!!!!!!!!!
If you can, see this brilliant film, one of the year's best, on the 8 story tall IMAX screen.
[Will be away on vacation most of July .... first stop: The Dominican Republic. a gorgeous locale with beautiful people!]

It's hard to make heads or tails of "Hancock." At times the movie seems like an overcooked cinematic concoction. At other times, it appears to be half-baked.

So, despite having a few "wow" moments, this is one of the more frustratingly inconsistent movies in recent memory.

Of course, that inconsistency might be more forgivable if the film were a low-budget "indie" instead of a big-budget summer spectacular. And it might not be so noticeable if the film didn't star Will Smith, a usually reliable performer.

His last really big commercial and critical dud was "Wild Wild West," nearly 10 years ago. Fortunately, this film isn't nearly that bad.

As played by Smith, the title character is super-strong, seems to be invulnerable and has the ability to fly.

And though he has used those powers to fight crime, he's also irresponsible and thoughtless, and his actions have caused considerable property damage. So he's very unpopular with the public.

So, it's no wonder the cast appears to be confused. Smith is a little tentative, as is Charlize Theron, who plays Ray's wife ? and is hiding a pretty big secret from him.
this won't be om screens long.. wait for DVD

A small film about a student, during the summer of 1994, selling marijuana to put himself through college, seemed like a sure case of "been there, done that", but THE WACKNESS proved to be one of the better films I have seen so far this year. Absolutely great acting from a cast that includes Ben Kingsley, in his best performance since HOUSE OF SAND AND FOG and SEXY BEAST, and a truly star-making turn by Josh Peck (newly thin having lost 40 pounds and suddenly he's a 'hunk' ... who knew?). If DeNiro and Pacino could have a love-child it would surely be Josh Peck! A great little film!
Amid all the multi-million dollar blockbusters ... seek out this entertaining indie when its released in your area. A small joy!

In the 1950's studios churned out films in the (then) new 3-D process to lure viewers back to theatres and away from Television. It failed because the films were predominately low level B-Films. Now the studios will hit us with a new onslaught of over 30 features readied for release in a new and improved process which has recently proven to be terrific for concert films. If, however, the quality of these films will be on the level of JOURNEY TO THE CENTER OF THE EARTH 3-D we are in for 30 lousy films ... with a gimmick.
Your pre-teen relatives and kids may be entertained, but even at a mercifully brief 92 minutes, I guarantee you will be bored out of your mind!

If you are not a Will Smith fan you probably will not like HANCOCK, ... but if you love Will you'll love this film, an original take on a Super Hero story.
The action sequences are certainly there! The script however is full of holes and suffers from underdeveloped characters and plotlines. The actors are all very good (including a beautiful Charlize Theron and Jason Bateman) and lift the material to a level higher than it actually is. A terrific plot twist an hour into the film also raises the bar ... but isn't played out to its potential.
That being said, it is a breezy, brief (only 92 minutes!) diverting entertainment. You'll totally forget it by the time you exit the theater.
A must for Will Smith fans ... all others should proceed with caution, or wait for the DVD.

At first I was not interested in seeing this film, the sight of Poehler peeing in a sink is not my idea of good comedy. However the film has some good laughs, and some of the better comedy I've seen from Tina Fey. I like her but her comedy seems to be a mix of good and bad, sometimes she's funny, sometimes she's not. In this film it's more than not, also, women will enjoy the film and its comedy much more than men.

Now, I won't admit I was wrong thinking it was bad, however, it was not as bad as I assumed it would have been. It was JUST passable as a movie that I would see, on a whim, with some friends at the theater. I wouldn't plan to see it, I wouldn't go out late on a Friday/Saturday just to see it. But on a slow Monday/Thursday afternoon when you're just hanging downtown, it is a good movie to see. No real thinking, some quaint comedy and a story that doesn't get too bad too fast. However, the last 15 minutes were both rushed, predictable and was not synergistic with the rest of the movie. However, this is becoming a common occurance in movies lately.

Not great, not bad, just right for an afternoon time killer.
A perfect mid-day movie on a slow and casual weekday. (Rent, don't buy)

The Dark Knight The Dark Knight

I saw a screening this past weekend .. and this is sure to make some fans pleased.

Heath Ledger's final performance is one to remember him by. Los Angeles-area critics got an early press screening Thursday night (luckies), and the best-supporting-actor campaign has already begun.

Batman Begins told audiences and film critics it is possible to root a comic book generated superhero in reality. Earlier this year Iron Man set out to do the same but lost its balance in the final act. The Dark Knight manages to exceed expectation with a villain so maniacal, his desire for destruction begins to make sense to the point you understand his desire for all out anarchy while you are cheering for the opposition in a war that basically boils down to one side against individual terrorism.

The sound track alone stands on its own as an amazing score.
In terms of comic book film adaptations this is the pinnacle. The argument saying this is the Godfather Part II of comic book movies would insinuate that Batman Begins is on equal terms with the original Godfather, which is far from true. However, if we could call this The Godfather of comic book movies I wait anxiously for what may/will become the film that caps off the trilogy.

Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story Dodgeball - A True Underdog Story

    Dodgeball (2004)
    Directed By Rawson Marshall Thurber
Starring Vince Vaughn, Ben Stiller, Christine Taylor, Rip Torn, Justin Long, Stephen Root, Joel Moore, Chris Williams, Alan Tudyk, Missi Pyle

«Patches O'Houlihan: If you can dodge a wrench, you can dodge a ball.
    Justin: What?
[Patches throws a wrench and hits Justin in the face]»

Peter LaFleur (Vaughn) is the laid-back owner of Average Joes, a failing gym with a handful of loyal, but eccentric, members, including Steve the Pirate (Tudyk), Justin (Long), Gordon (Root), and employees Dwight (Williams) and Owen (Moore). His rival, White Goodman (Stiller), owner of the glamorous Globo-Gym located across the street, has purchased Average Joe's defaulted mortgage, meaning that Peter must raise $50,000 in 30 days in order to redeem the equity of redemption on the about-to-be-foreclosed mortgage, or else Goodman will successfully foreclose upon Average Joe's Gym and demolish it for a parking garage. Working on this transaction is attorney Kate Veatch (Taylor), whom White attempts, and fails, to charm, although she and Peter develop a friendship despite her role in his business troubles. After various half-hearted attempts at money-raising fail, Gordon declares that they can win the money needed to pay the redemption costs by winning a dodgeball competition in Las Vegas, and begin to train to enter the tournament.

Dodgeball is a typical brainless comedy; only difference is its all about dodgeball. It is about Vince Vaughn's character called Peter, who is desperate to save his gym by collecting $50,000 by winning a dodgeball competition. It is important to notice that Vince did well, a good solid performance from him, but nothing special really. Ben Stiller played the villain, a guy called White, who bought Peter's gym and now trying to stop him from retaining his gym back. Stiller gave a great performance, his character was a typical evil guy, who just wants to make a good guy suffer; a bit like in any superhero movie, only in this film he is interesting in purchasing Peters gym. Christine Taylor plays a woman who is working on the transaction of Peter's gym; both slowly start finding each other attractive. I didn't really enjoy Christine's performance, she and Vaughn didn't have any mixture between them and they just looked bad together, but love is not the whole point of this movie so it didn't really matter. The rest of the actors did well, everyone who played the members of the Average Joes gym/dodgeball team were good and a special praise goes to Missi Pyle for creating a completely unforgettable character.

There is not much to say about this movie, it's a typical comedy that you don't have to understand or to think about deeply, just watch and enjoy it. Some scenes and dialogues were hilarious, but overall you won't get anything else from this movie. I feel exactly the same as Stiller's character in the end of the movie: most of American movies end up with a happy ending, and that is why movies like that will never make it to the top of the movie business. It doesn't mean they are pointless, it means that they are rather simple and mostly predictable.

Review Date: 30th of June, 2008.

Hey, you should really see this!

Stupid, really stupid. But its rather hillarious. Stiller is great in this. worth a look on sunday night.

I am SO disappointed in this. It felt like a remake of The Others, only a little more "del Toro-esque". You know, sprinkled with fantasy and crazy imagination.
Guillermo del Toro is a GOD, but it doesn't mean all of his films are masterpieces. Like this film for instance, call me crazy but I thought this was REALLY overrated. Totally unoriginal!
I mean come on, children seeing other invisible children? Children drawing invisible beings and their parents freaking out at their generally unnatural behaviour? PLEASE! We have seen this concept SO MANY TIMES! It's about time they stop making such movies!

However I have to admit that Belén Rueda is superb in her role as Laura, mother of Simon. She can act various emotions with such passion that it becomes believable. And as for the other actors, mmmyeah they were good. Just not as good as Rueda.

And as much as the concept is a "been there, done that"... it's catchy. Only because some elements of the story are well-thought and well-introduced.

I will only say this: the ending is wonderful. But it has already been done people! Don't get all happy and excited!!
Don't be fooled by Guillermo del Toro being the director!
    Unoriginal, if you ask me.
    And so overrated!

However, I suggest you see this film anyways because I have noticed that a majority of my friends who saw this actually loved it (they're all crazy :P). So see for yourself and I'm always up for a discussion anytime! (It's almost the only thing I have to do these days, hahahahaha!)

WANTED is a slick, well acted, and very well made action picture that is almost always entertaining... but it's over-the-top nature (to the point of INSANITY) makes the film lack the heart and soul that many scene try to incorporate. So on a human level, the film just doesn't work.

But the blood-soaked action sequence are the reason most will be at the multiplex in line to see the film anyway, and although they do get repetitive and exhaustive after a while, they are a ton of fun to behold. James McAvoy also makes for a very unique (and suprisingly likeable) action hero.

Mix things up with some very funny dialogue, and WANTED is a film I can easily recommend. But what I'm saying is this; as far as Orgasmic-action romps go... I liked SHOOT 'EM UP more.
It's a good summer action movie that is sure to entertain. Like most entries in the genre as of late, it's best to leave your brain at the door.

    3.5 Stars by Janice
Caramel is the story of five Lebanese women coming to terms with their lives, while sharing a unique bond of friendship, probably portrayed by a tangible setting, the beauty salon, helping them cope with the harsh realities of existence.
First there's Layale who realizes her relationship with a married man is leading her nowhere. Then there's Nisrine who is to marry a Muslim man yet faces a terrible obstacle. As for Rima, she is a lesbian. Then Jamale who fears old age and seems to encounter but failures in her professional life. Lastly there's the very endearing Rose who must chose between love or her senile mother Lili.
Director Nadine Labaki (who also plays Layale) beautifully portrays the lives of these women without making it too melodramatic, occasionally adding dashes of humour to soften the film.

First of all, for a film whose title is "Caramel", there is not enough caramel. Of course everyone can remember the film Chocolat (with Juliette Binoche and Johnny Depp) which featured the life of a rebellious woman interwoven with the art of making chocolate. And basically, the movie just oozed with chocolate and the likes. But in Caramel, caramel itself is allotted only a few scenes, namely the opening scene where the process of making caramel is introduced to us - caramel in this movie being most of all used as an epilation method rather than for edible reasons. But then I thought, hmmm, the caramel in itself is the reason why these women are together. So Caramel is an appropriate title; well, at least better than Four Lebanese Women or Beauty Salon, haha!

The characters aren't as deep as one would think. I was expecting more depth and emotionally arousing situations. And as bizarre as it may sound, my favourite character wasn't even one of the main women; it was Lili, the mentally-challenged old lady.
Also, I wouldn't go so far as saying this is beautifully shot because it isn't. The colours are too dark for such a film. And no, I'm pretty sure it wasn't done to create a certain style. Common sense, people! When you call your film Caramel, I bet you'll try and make the scenes and transitions look as smooth as possible, far from angular shots that make the scenes look strict and devoid of softness. Sheesh!

Overall, a nice directorial debut from Nadine Labaki, worth a watch especially by fans of the genre. I'll definitely be awaiting her next film!
For fans of the genre especially.
But hey, whoever said others couldn't see this?
So give Caramel a try, you've got nothing to lose (except 1h30mins).

    Wanted Wanted
    4.0 Stars by Bob
Fans of director Timor Bekmambetov's Russian films know he is a visual stylist with great flair. That visual flair is very much on view in WANTED, an in-your-face, over-the-top, non-stop action opus, the likes of which have not been seen since the MATRIX films burst from the big screen. A very good Morgan Freeman performance, a terrific one from James McAvoy and a stunningly sexy Angelina Jolie (poor Jennifer never had a chance!) all add to the fun. A bombastic score by Danny Elfman fits this hyperkinetic action thriller to a 'T'. I've read that some people find the script too confusing ... absurd!, all the info is right there.
    Great inventive action thriller!
... and ooooooowwwww ... that Jolie!!!

Another super solid winner from Disney/PIXAR, WALL-E will be a major Animation contender come award season.
Directed by Andrew Stanton who previously gave us FINDING NEMO.
Terrific on all levels: script, music (Thomas Newman, Peter Gabriel) and, of course, animation.
No one does it better than PIXAR!!

    Get Smart Get Smart
    3.5 Stars by Michael
GET SMART is the years biggest surprise. The trailers looked "iffy," but the film isn't. It boasts great special effects, perfect lead casting (Steve Carell is great, and Anne Hathaway is smokin'), and most of all it's genuinely funny. Just about every joke works... and that is rarely accomplished outside the realms of Apatow! Strong supporting work aswell from the likes of Alan Arkin, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Terrence Stamp, and the very funny Ken Davitian of BORAT fame.

And keep an eye out for Bill Murray in one of his oddest cameos.
Laid back summer entertainment at it's finest!
