Shaft
R
As harsh as this may sound, I believe the best thing about this film was the song. The acting was all right - Richard Roundtree was cool - but the storyline was pretty poor. There was the occasional good moment, though.
16 Blocks
PG-13
A good film with an interesting plot but one that doesn't really go anywhere. Entertaining in places but ultimately a disappointing Bruce Willis film.
The Transporter
PG-13
With some good action sequences, this film was entertaining. The plot was ridiculous, however, and some of the fights were impossibly silly. The acting also let it down as it was too melodramatic.
Trainspotting
R
With some amusing moments and a brilliant cast it is just about understandable why some people believe this to be a classic. I, however, found it a bit much at times with some very disgusting scenes. Its plot was also a bit too crazy.
Never Been Kissed
PG-13
Drew Barrymore is kind of annoying but the storyline is quite interesting. Quite a realistic portrayal of American teens but not good enough comedy for a chick flick.
X-Men
PG-13
An average film with some good characters brought to the big screen but one that failed to deliver a proper plot. Had some all right action and special effects, though.

Fight Club

This is the greatest film ever! Anyone who hasn't seen this film needs to. Regardless of your gender you will love this film!

The Shawshank Redemption
R
The most beautiful film of all time. A wonderful exploration of hope inside a prison's grey walls. A master-class in acting also helps make this quite simply superb. A must see for anyone!
3.
Pulp Fiction

A film of complete genius. Quentin Tarantino's greatest film has a plot that moves from story to story so smoothly it's a joy to watch. The acting is first rate and the memorable quotes rival that of the Bible's! It's also hilarious in places and is, in short, simply divine.

Fever Pitch

Probably not everyone's cup of tea (particularly if you're a Liverpool fan!) but for me as a die-hard Arsenal fan, this is the only film that combines my love of the beautiful game and my love of film. Sheer brilliance.

American History X

A brilliant film! Yet another must-see with Edward Norton as the star. He is absolutely superb and has a very good supporting cast backing him up, particularly Edward Furlong. Guy Torry also deserves a mention as he provides comic relief in an otherwise serious film. The plot is excellent and every character is written perfectly.

The best horror film I've ever seen. The violence is appropriate and the storyline draws you in with its originality. Exciting and thrilling, this is one of few horror films I would really recommend.
