The most beautiful film of all time. A wonderful exploration of hope inside a prison's grey walls. A master-class in acting also helps make this quite simply superb. A must see for anyone!

A film of complete genius. Quentin Tarantino's greatest film has a plot that moves from story to story so smoothly it's a joy to watch. The acting is first rate and the memorable quotes rival that of the Bible's! It's also hilarious in places and is, in short, simply divine.

Probably not everyone's cup of tea (particularly if you're a Liverpool fan!) but for me as a die-hard Arsenal fan, this is the only film that combines my love of the beautiful game and my love of film. Sheer brilliance.

American History X (1998,  R)
American History X 5.0 Stars
A brilliant film! Yet another must-see with Edward Norton as the star. He is absolutely superb and has a very good supporting cast backing him up, particularly Edward Furlong. Guy Torry also deserves a mention as he provides comic relief in an otherwise serious film. The plot is excellent and every character is written perfectly.

A work of sheer brilliance. The cast is superb (especially Kevin Spacey who plays an utterly convincing creepy part) and the plot is unique and amazingly compelling. Director David Fincher shows how good he really is. See this film!

The Matrix (1999,  R)
The Matrix 5.0 Stars
A revoultionary film filled with action and intelligent plot. The unique brilliance is so powerfully compelling that it allows you to look beyond Reeves' bad acting. Laurence Fishburne is great but Hugo Weaving steals the show as the cold, calculating Agent Smith. His chilling voice and constant reference to Neo as "Mr Anderson" are hugely entertaining and put this film right at the top.

The Lion King (1994,  G)
The Lion King 5.0 Stars
The last great film to come out of Disney. Joining Aladdin as my favourite two Disney films it has everything good about Disney. It also has Jeremy Irons in it who is superb as the evil Scar and gives life to one of the greatest characters ever created. All the other voices are provided perfectly too and the songs and plot really are remarkable. Maybe slightly better than Aladdin because the characters are better.

A fantastic film and, along with The Lion King, the greatest Disney film ever. Where the Lion King has Jeremy Irons, Aladdin has Robin Williams who is brilliant as the genie. It's also got Gilbert Gottfried who's hilarious as Iago! The songs are superb and the storyline equally so. A must-see for it really is an amazing animated achievement.

Robin Williams plays a fantastic part in a classic film. The rest of the cast is great too and the plot is quite sensational as it deals with the very tricky topic of divorce and makes it hilarious yet moving. The screenplay is also superb including an epilogue which sums up divorce better than anything I've ever heard.

A superbly realistic story that touches you because of the strength of Dustin Hoffman's acting. He takes a seemingly ordinary role and makes it brilliantly orignial. Meryl Streep is very good too as was Justin Henry and the plot was as superb as the acting.

A stroke of comic genius from Mike Myers and his two equally hilarious characters. The other characters are brilliant too, though, and Will Ferrell's cameo role is very much appreciated. Gulliver's Travels (1996,  PG)
Gulliver's Travels 5.0 Stars
One of few adaptations I would say was better than the book. Where the book is long, drawn out and difficult to read, this film is exciting, enjoyable and easy to follow. Each of Lemuel Gulliver's travels is as brilliant as each other with an astounding range of characters introduced and great acting all round. Ted Danson is particularly superb in both present times and flashbacks but his American accent is a little odd for someone claiming to be an Englishman! That is the masterpiece's only flaw, however, and it sparkles with creativity and great writing.

The Pursuit of Happyness 5.0 Stars
One of the most heart-warming films I've ever seen. Will Smith is absolutely brilliant and shows a new side to his acting. His son is also really good and it's their on-screen relationship that really makes this film. Granted, they are father and son in reality but there aren't many actors who have sons that are exceptional actors too. This is the first time I've seen Will Smith play something other than the slick man he normally plays and he really opens your eyes to just what a versatile actor he is. Made me cry at the end which is another of this film's many qualities.

This has got to be my favourite chick-flick. Though I like to think of it as modern literary comic genius disguised as a chick-flick. It has a perfect cast and an abundance of high quality jokes capped with an ingenius plot that pays a great homage to Shakespeare.

Brad Pitt is the differance between this film and Lock, Stock. A hilarious performance which, although has been slated, I thought he was really good. The rest of the cast is great too, mind, and the film's plot and slick directing is what earns it its right as a cult classic.

I thought Gwyneth Paltrow's English accent was great, despite some critics' opinions, and she was really good. John Lynch was great too as was his friend, Douglas McFerran, but the real shining star was John Hannah who was hilarious and brilliant when being serious too. The plot was unique and a fascinating look at fate.

Terminator 2: Judgment Day 5.0 Stars
An amazing film with the greatest special effects ever used in any film. They retain their wow-factor even by today's standards, despite the lack of technology in 1991. The evil robot is at the centre of these remarkable camera tricks and Robert Patrick plays one of the best villains of all time. Arnie is pretty cool too but it's not his film. Unfortunately, the film is slightly marred by the highly irritating Linda Hamilton but, fortunately, the Terminators drown her out.

Hugh Grant's best film by far. He shows that he is not just a chick flick dick. Granted, this could be seen as a bit of a chick flick but if it is then it is a damn good one! Hugh Grant's character, Will, is brilliantly real and someone I could really relate too. Very amusing throughout makes this very special for its genre and a must-see.

The Bourne Ultimatum (2007,  PG-13)
The Bourne Ultimatum 4.5 Stars
With some of the best fight scenes ever choreographed with the trademark shaky-cam and a plot as strong as the last two, this film ended the greatest dramatic trilogy ever made. Matt Damon was superb but so was the rest of the cast. The constant change of location was very much appreciated and kept it fresh and interesting just like the last two. The Waterloo station scene was one of my favourites because I recognised the area! But everything about this film made it unique. Modern genius makes for a modern classic.
