An unusual and moving take on the Holocaust. The friendship between the two little boys is heart-warming and haunting. The ending goes a bit over-the-top.
The humour works surprisingly well in Finnish. Overall, the film is too manic with very clinical animation. The storyline is a bit dull, but the characters manage to be quite cute and likeable even when many of the gags and jokes fall flat.
Visually cool and quite imaginative. Storywise - meh - very conventional, and it gets boring towards the end. The characters are not particularly interesting and the dialogue is often quite awkward.
The final film of the trilogy ties all the pieces together quite effectively. It's not particularly memorable, but Noomi Rapace is still very impressive.
A very imaginative, impressive and old-fashioned fairytale with strong performances from Heath Ledger, Christopher Plummer, Lily Cole and Tom Waits. Unfortunately, the narration is a bit incoherent and chaotic.
The praised, allegorical film that sees the world through the eyes of a donkey. This is a prime example of a French art film that goes well over my head. :D I can understand why Bresson is a very influential director, but his style is not my cup of tea.
